netcomics 0.14.1
netcomics project is a Perl script that downloads todays comics from the Web. more>>
netcomics project is a Perl script that downloads todays comics from the Web.
Netcomics is a program that downloads todays comic strips from the Web, and places them in a local directory where they can be retrieved for display. Because each website that carries comic strips chooses how old of strips to show, the comic strips downloaded will actually be from different dates, but theyll always be the latest.
Although not always kept up to date, there are a lot of comics supported. Use the link for supported comics to get a list of the comics supported as of the last software release.
Written in perl, netcomics is very platform independant. perlTK & perlGTK are used for the implementation of graphical user interfaces. All of netcomics is written using modules, so you can write your own scripts using it if youd like.
Netcomics was created for the purpose of having a little relief from the weary mind of someone busy at work, so another script called display_comics is also provided as an example way to periodically show the retrieved comic strips throughout the workday.
Also, when run on a Monday, you can run netcomics to download Saturdays and Sundays comic strips as well.

ComicMaster 0060
ComicMaster is a CBR/CBZ reader for comic archives. more>>
ComicMaster is a CBR/CBZ reader for comic archives. It is able to open CBR and CBZ archives and display image contents. It allows you to add and remove single images, reorder images, and rename images in archives.
It has some functionality to verify archives, and provides means to conveniently sort archives in a different folder. Those features are fairly well tested.
ComicMaster project allows you to load a database plugin to manage comics in a PostgreSQL database, and it allows you to add meta-information in XML format to archives. The implementation of these features is currently sketchy at best.
Enhancements:
- Several bugs are fixed.
- One new feature: Export to portable device. Allows to scale images to a user defined width separated for portrait and landscape images. Also allows to convert all readable image formats into jpg, png, bmp, tif and a few unimportant other formats. No gif.
- Fixed the reorder feature, which also allows to drop images from folder into an opened archive. No separate window anymore, neatly integrated into the ControlCenter.

C Comic Collection 0.04
C Comic Collection project is a GTK application for downloading, cataloging, and viewing Web comics. more>>
C Comic Collection project is a GTK application for downloading, cataloging, and viewing Web comics. It uses a MySQL database.
To compile this software, just type "make".
It requires development libraries for gtk, gtk_imlib, cURL, mysql and pthreads. If youre on Linux these should come with your distrobution; I dunno for other OS. If you only have the runtimes and are using a 386 derivative (Pentium et al) you can get a binary from http://c-comiccollect.sourceforge.net.
Compilation will produce a binary called "gtk-cc"; copy this to your /usr/bin (youll need root privileges, copy to your ~/bin (you wont) or just run it from where it is (./gtk-cc &).
You can populate the database by running the included "comiccollection.sql" against an empty database. (mysql -u < username > < dbname > < comiccollection.sql). It even includes some comics to get you started!
Enhancements:
- Minor improvements - only really relevant if you view KeenSpace comics.
- Fixed file non-deletion problem
- Fixed KeenSpace file download problem
