Color::Scheme 1.02

Color::Scheme 1.02

Color::Scheme is a module used to generate pleasant color schemes. more>>
Color::Scheme is a module used to generate pleasant color schemes.

This module is a Perl implementation of Color Schemes 2, a color scheme generator. Start by visitng the Color Schemes 2 web site and playing with the colors.

When you want to generate those schemes on the fly, begin using this modoule. The descriptions herein dont make too much sense without actually seeing the colorful results.

Henceforth, paragraphs in quotes denote documentation copied from Color Schemes 2.

"Important note: This tool doesnt use the standard HSV or HSB model (the same HSV/HSB values ie. in Photoshop describe different colors!). The color wheel used here differs from the RGB spectre used on computer screens, its more in accordance with the classical color theory.

This is also why some colors (especially shades of blue) make less bright shades than the basic colors of the RGB-model. In plus, the RGB-model uses red-green-blue as primary colors, but the red-yellow-blue combination is used here.

This deformation also causes incompatibility in color conversions from RGB-values. Therefore, the RGB input (eg. the HTML hex values like #F854A9) is not exact, the conversion is rough and sometimes may produce slightly different color."

Text::VimColor 0.11

Text::VimColor 0.11

Text::VimColor is a syntax color text in HTML or XML using Vim. more>>
Text::VimColor is a syntax color text in HTML or XML using Vim.

SYNOPSIS

use Text::VimColor;
my $syntax = Text::VimColor->new(
file => $0,
filetype => perl,
);

print $syntax->html;
print $syntax->xml;

This module tries to markup text files according to their syntax. It can be used to produce web pages with pretty-printed colourful source code samples. It can produce output in the following formats:

HTML

Valid XHTML 1.0, with the exact colouring and style left to a CSS stylesheet

XML

Pieces of text are marked with XML elements in a simple vocabulary, which can be converted to other formats, for example, using XSLT

Perl array

A simple Perl data structure, so that Perl code can be used to turn it into whatever is needed

This module works by running the Vim text editor and getting it to apply its excellent syntax highlighting (aka font-locking) to an input file, and mark pieces of text according to whether it thinks they are comments, keywords, strings, etc. The Perl code then reads back this markup and converts it to the desired output format.

This is an object-oriented module. To use it, create an object with the new function (as shown above in the SYNOPSIS) and then call methods to get the markup out.

GLCARS

GLCARS

GLCARS project is Gregors LCARS theme for KDE. more>>
GLCARS project is Gregors LCARS theme for KDE. LCARS is the computer system from Star Trek.

Believe it or not, I didnt create this solely because Im such a trekkie. My main reason is that LCARS (though not real) is a sensible theme for tablet PCs.

Ive also created a fairly gawdy widget set. Its included in the download, but is not in the default theme. You can install it afterwards. Its bright, colorful, and has pill-shaped buttons, like LCARS.

If youd like your panel to look like mine in the screenshot:

1) Move you main panel to the left of the screen.
2) Set its width to 100*(w/1600), where w is the width of your screen.
3) Make it transparent.
4) Add buttons to it as you please (the images I used are included)
5) Create a KasBar, put it at the top of the screen. Make it large for 1024x768, perhaps larger for higher resolutions.
Note: You may have to mess around with kasbar to make it work properly. I cant help much, sorry.
6) Add another panel, also aligned to the top.
7) Adjust your new panels height to taste. I have mine set to 54, for a 1024x768 screen.

Cft 0.2.1

Cft 0.2.1

Cft project watches a system administrator as she makes changes to a system. more>>
Its basic principle is heavily influenced by Gnomes Sabayon. Instead of the desktop though, cft is focused on traditional system administrators and how they maintain machines, mostly with command line tools.

Cft uses puppet as its backbone for expressing the configuration of a system, and for understanding in greater detail what changes the admin has made to the system. Sites that already use puppet to manage their configuration can easily integrate cfts output into the overall site configuration; for sites that use some other means of configuration management, cfts output provides a complete record of changes made and serves as a good starting point of integrating the changes back into the sites configuration.

Example:

In lieu of colorful screenshots, a simple example will explain in more detail how cft works: cft organizes changes in sessions to let the user better indicate what aspect of the system they are fixing (the webserver, the mailserver etc.) A simple session to fix the configuration of postfix and to start and enable the service might entail root running the following commands:

tux:1# cft begin postfix
tux:2# yum -y install postfix
tux:3# vi /etc/postfix/main.cf
tux:4# chkconfig postfix on
tux:5# service postfix start
tux:6# cft finish postfix

Note that the user only had to issue two additonal commands to begin and finish the session, everything else in the session is exactly the same as if the changes had been made without cft. The command cft begin postfix tells cft to start a session called postfix, and the last command cft finish postfix tells it to do the final bookkeeping necessary for analysing the results.

Once the commands above have been issued, running cft manifest postfix will print the changes in the form of a puppet manifest:

tux:6# cft manifest postfix
class postfix {
package { postfix.i386:
ensure => 2:2.3.3-2
}

service { postfix:
enable => true,
pattern => postfix,
ensure => running
}

file { /etc/aliases.db:
group => smmsp,
owner => root,
mode => 0640,
source => /tmp/cft/postfix/after/etc/aliases.db
}

file { /etc/postfix/main.cf:
group => root,
owner => root,
mode => 0644,
source => /tmp/cft/postfix/after/etc/postfix/main.cf
}
}

This manifest tells puppet that puppet should enable and start the postfix service, and that the two files should be copied from the location mentioned as the source and receive the given owner, group, and mode. cft takes care of copying all modified files into a safe location so that they can be copied off the machine into a central location. The mention of the file aliases.db is somewhat spurious: it gets automatically recreated by the init script for postfix, and cft treats it exactly as if the user had created the file.
To facilitate moving the changes onto a central serevr, cft can also convert a session into a tarball that contains both the puppet manifest and all the files that are mentioned in it, in this case aliases.db and main.cf. Fancier, more convenient methods of integrating changes back into a central puppet server are planned for the future.
