blog_my 1.5
blog_my is a weblog software. more>>
blog_my is a weblog software.
Main features:
- It doesnt use a database. Everything is stored in files.
- World-class file upload & management interface. (uses SWFUpload)
- It uses web.py for clean, fast operation.
- It uses MochiKit for javascript goodness.
- The "admin" interface is the regular interface. When you login, "edit" links appear by things that are editable.
- People can edit their comments later
- Edits in progress are autosaved every 10 seconds.
- Javascript is used whenever possible to avoid page reloads when changing state.
- The javascript does not break search engine indexing. Pages & links look good to googlebot.
- It supports wiki-style "pages" (youre reading one now)
- Markdown is used for formatting. Raw html can be used too. Theres no WYSIWYG editor.
- Its pretty extensible. Different types of "things" (besides the default posts, quotes, books) can be added without changing any existing code.
- Configuration & customization is simple:
- 1 config file
- 1 css file
- 1 template file
- Fairly lightweight. About ~1000 lines of python + ~1000 lines of javascript. (though the size increases about 20x when you add MochiKit & web.py & SWFUpload).

Glom 1.5.2
Glom allows you to design database table definitions and the relationships between them. more>>
Glom allows you to design database table definitions and the relationships between them.
The design is loosely based upon FileMaker Pro, with the added advantage of separation between interface and data. It attempts to provide a simple generic framework sufficient to implement most database applications. These systems normally consists of lots of repetitive, unmaintainable code.
Glom-specific data such as the relationship definitions is saved in the Glom document. Glom re-connects to the database server when it loads a previous Glom document. The document is in XML format.
Glom uses the PostgresSQL database backend but it can not edit databases that it did not create, because it uses only a simple subset of Postgres functionality.

4. Install a J2EE servlet container, I recommend Resin 2.x (it is also a webserver and can be integrated with IIS or Apache if you want)
5. Get the SKForum WAR file.

8. Set up the data sources. If needed install the JDBC driver in the servlet container (get the mysql driver here).
Setup data source in Resin 2.x
Setup data source in Resin 3.x
Setup data source in Orion
9. This step only if you do not use Resin: If you use tomcat, remove web.xml and rename tomcat-web.xml to web.xml. Otherwise comment out the parts of web.xml that is marked "resin specific" that your server does not support.
10. Get the mysql jdbc driver and put it in your app servers lib directory.

EasyH10 1.5
EasyH10 is an open source project for the development of a software suite for iRiver H10 digital audio players. more>>
EasyH10 is an open source project for the development of a software suite for iRiver H10 digital audio players. The project creates the database layout for an H10 player, without the need for iRiver Plus or Windows Media Player 10, based on music and playlist files transferred manually (e.g., drag-and-drop operation, copy command, rsync utility, etc).
EasyH10 is compatible with iriver H10 5GB, 6GB, and 20GB models shipped worldwide as well as various platforms such as Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP, Linux, MacOS X, and other POSIX-like operating systems.
EasyH10 is for whom?
EasyH10 is for those users who know a bit about digital audio players and have become more accustomed to doing things the better way rather than the "newbie" way. In contrast with iRiver Plus and Windows Media Player 10, EasyH10 does not incorporate unnecessary and cumbersome features:
- Converting a music CD into music files (since we have excellent sources of free software, e.g., Exact Audio Copy, CDex, and LAME).
- Editing media information (since e.g., MP3TAG and The GodFather will do).
- Transferring music/playlist files from a local HDD to your iriver H10 player (since drag-and-drop with Explorer or rsync will do).
- Creating playlists from scratch on demand (e.g., WinAmp or foobar2000).
Whether a user finds integrated software useful or annoying depends on his or her level of knowledge regarding electronics, digital audio players in particular. Some users (including me) may prefer other excellent software for performing the tasks listed above. EasyH10 assumes a user is able to:
- Prepare music files with tag information (a good idea, but no mandatory any longer)
- Transfer music files to the iRiver H10 player without syncronization software
- Create playlist files through existing software
Do the above steps seem fairly easy? Then EasyH10 does just two remaining tasks for your H10 player, before it is ready to use:
- Media database construction, which is a necessary process for an H10 player to display song information in MUSIC mode.
- Playlist conversion, which is also a necessary process for your playlist files to become compatible (recognizable) with an H10 player.
Enhancements:
- [common] Added Hebrew support, which arranges artist/album/title/genre names in reversed order. Although the H10 firmware cant display a string in right-to-left language correctly, EasyH10 tries to improve this situation by flipping Hebrew letters in the database. EasyH10 [Win32 GUI] activates this routine automatically when running on the Hebrew locale, but one can disable it by setting LanguageRightToLeft variable to -1 in easyh10.ini. EasyH10 [CUI] uses the routine only when option -b (--bidi) is specified. The flipping routine was written by David Kohen.
- [POSIX CUI] Added automatic detection of a system character-encoding. EasyH10 detects the character encoding of the current system if its not specified with -e option.
- [POSIX CUI] Options -n, -i, and -c for database construction were removed for simplicity. EasyH10 [CUI] now has two options: -C (database rebuild) and -U (database update).
- [POSIX CUI] Show an error message when EasyH10 cannot initialize the routine for converting multi-byte characters to UCS-2.
- [POSIX CUI] Crash fix for MP3 files without read permission.
- [POSIX CUI] Crash fix for MP3 files with compilation flags enabled but with empty artist names. This fix was submitted by Carsten Pfeiffer (#1539139)
- [POSIX CUI] Bug fix for an incorrect usage of returned codes from iconv.
- [POSIX CUI] Updated the man-page.

ArchGenXML 1.5.2
ArchGenXML project is a code generator for Plone CMS. more>>
ArchGenXML project is a code generator for Plone CMS.
It builds on architecture-centric, model-based and test-driven developement. Generates Python code from UML-Models (XMI-Format). Its optimized for the generation of code based on the Archetypes framework.
With ArchGenXML you can create working python code without writing one single line of python. It is is a commandline utility that generates fully functional Zope Products based on the Archetypes framework from UML models using XMI (.xmi, .zargo, .zuml) files. The most common use case is to generate a set of custom content types, possibly with a few tools, a CMFMember type and some workflows thrown in.
In practice, you draw your UML diagrams in a tool like Poseidon or ObjectDomain which has the ability to generate XMI files. Once you are ready to test your product, you run ArchGenXML on the XMI file, which will generate the product directory. After generation, you will be able to install your product in Plone and have your new content types, tools and workflows available.
At present, round-trip support is not implemented: Custom code cant be converted back into XMI (and thus diagams). However, you can re-generate your product over existing code. Method bodies and certain "protected" code sections will be preserved. This means that you can evolve your products public interfaces, its methods and its attributes in the UML model, without fear of losing your hand-written code.
WHY use "ArchGenXML":
- You want to save time
- You are a lazy programmer
- You dont like to reinvent the wheel
- You dont like copying and pasting code and bugs
- You make heavy use of references and interfaces
- You have big projects with many different custom types
- You want or need a well-documented interface to your product
- You like structured model- and pattern-driven software development
- You want to maintain your project in future without getting a headache
- and many more good and odd other reasons.
Enhancements:
- Stable ArchGenXML for Plone 2.1 and 2.5. No more new features in v1.5 in future, just bugfixing. Features are for v1.6 targetting at Plone 2.5 and 3.0. They are developed on svn-trunk. v1.5 is branched away.
