Free cisco unity vmware software for linux

SlaBuntuVMware is a useful installation suite for installing VMware Server on Slackware or Ubuntu.

The project automatically downloads packages from the VMware site.

Tested on Slackware 11. (Slackware 10.2 might not work - try)
Tested on Ubuntu Desktop Dapper Drake and Ubuntu Desktop Edgy.

IMPORTANT: this suite does not include the vmware server packs,
they are downloaded from the official VMware site.
You also need a server key for activating the product that you must
get (for free) from the VMware web-site (http://www.vmware.com/server/)

INSTALLATION (Slackware Linux) :

a) 1- The perfect setup for running vmware on Slackware is:
Slackware 11 (When you install the OS leave a big partion for your
virtual machines).

Using a good server with an hardware raid controller:

Suggested Partition Table (scsi disks, if ide hda):
/dev/sda1 swap (megs?gb? depends on your system)
/dev/sda2 / 10Gb
/dev/sda3 /home 2Gb
/dev/sda4 /vm (160 Gb the rest for your virtual machines)

You must do a normal install with X support but no KDE.


2- Dropline Gnome (http://www.droplinegnome.net)
It is suggested you run gnome on Slackware 11. Gnome is not
included in the distro cds, therefore you must download
Dropline Gnome.

3- Kernel 2.6.x (with the kernel sources into /usr/src/linux)
(Default Kernel 2.4.33.3 works perfectly though)

CAUTION: take a look on www.vmware.com for the
supported kernel 2.6 versions.

OR

- If you have problems building 2.6.x vmware kernel module, just use
the normal 2.4.33.3 kernel supplied with your slackware, or try the test26.s
or huge26.s supplied with your slackware cds.

b) - The base setup for running vmware on Slackware is:
1- Slackware 11
2- Kde(not tested can have problems with some libraries)
(if you do not want to Download and install Dropline Gnome)
3- Kernel 2.4.33 (with the kernel sources into /usr/src/linux)

Using a normal pc with no raid controller (so you should use linux
raid software):

Suggested Partition Table (scsi disks, if ide hda):
/dev/md1 swap (megs?gb? depends on your system)
/dev/md2 / 10Gb
/dev/md3 /home 2Gb
/dev/md4 /vm (100 Gb? the rest for your virtual machines)

2) After making sure you have everything (including the kernel sources
inside /usr/src/linux) you can run:

4) follow the steps provided
(you can hit ENTER to most of the questions (90%)

4) provide the vmware free key when needed
(ask for it on the site http://www.vmware.com)

6) under an X session: Run the command "vmware" and Enjoy vmware!

INSTALLATION (Ubuntu Desktop, Alternate,NOT Server):

1) edit /etc/apt/sources.list and uncomment all the lines starting with deb

2) open a terminal (xterm) and type "sudo ./setup.sh"

3) follow the steps provided
(you can hit ENTER to most of the questions (90%)

4) provide the vmware free key when needed
(ask for it on the site http://www.vmware.com)

5) Run the command "vmware" and Enjoy vmware!

INSTALLATION ON UBUNTU SERVER

- Not tried yet, but you should at first download and install X11 and gnome
and then follow the steps provided for Ubuntu Desktop above.

IMPORTANT INFO:

- Remember that vmware server packs are downloaded from the official vmware
site and are property of the VMware Company: http://www.vmware.com/

- Remember that in order to use VMware you should accept the terms of the
VMware license that will be displayed during the installation process.

- Remember that in order to installa VMware you should ask the VMware
fellows for a key. Do this at the VMware site: http://www.vmware.com/

- To create virtual machines you should use the vmware console.
a) Run the command "vmware" and the vmware console starts up.
b) Then connect to localhost.

- After created a virtual machine to run it from the cmd line use:
bash# vmware-cmd vmname.vmx start

Download them and to install those just type (as root):

When you have finished installing all the packages you need remember to run:

# ldconfig

- If you need a window manager you can install windowmaker:

# wmaker.inst

Cisco IP Accounting Fetcher is a set of Perl scripts that allows you to fetch IP accounting data from Cisco routers. There is the only one config file - "getdata.conf for configuration.
Main features:
- fetch accounting data from the router
- generate the HTML statistics

Cisco::IPPhone is a package for creating Cisco IPPhone XML objects.

Cisco::IPPhone - Package for creating Cisco IPPhone XML applications
This Cisco IPPhone module was created to provide a simple convenient method to display Cisco IP Phone objects and gather input from a Cisco 7940 or 7960 IP Phone. This module supports all known Cisco XML objects for 7940 and 7960 phones. Knowledge of Cisco XML syntax is not a requirement.

This Perl module gives the ability to use simple PERL objects to display XML on the IP Phone unlike to Cisco Software Development Kit (SDK) which uses Microsoft IIS Server, ASPs, JSPs, Javascript, COM Objects, and requires knowledge of XML syntax.

PIX Logging Architecture [PLA] is a project allowing for correlation of Cisco PIX Firewall Traffic and IDS Logs.
Centralization of the logs is provided using a MySQL database, supported by a Web-based frontend for Log Viewing, Searching, and Event Management.
PLA is completely coded in the Perl programming language, and uses various Perl modules including Perl::DBI and
Perl::CGI.

IPCAD stands for IP Cisco Accounting Daemon. It runs in background, listens traffic on the specified interfaces, and records the traffic for later retrieval and analysis. IPCAD can use raw BPF devices, PCAP library, divert, tee or Linux iptables ULOG & IPQ packet sources to capture the packets.

IPCAD can export gathered information using rsh or NetFlow.

AsItHappens is a real-time network performance monitor. AsItHappens project collects data from devices over a network and displays them on a graph, optionally storing collected data in a database for later retrieval.
Current collection types include network response, bandwidth, Cisco NBAR, and Cisco NetFlow. AsItHappens polls data in regular intervals, which can be as low as every second, to give immediate feedback on network performance.

AMP (Asterisk Management Portal)
- AMP is a web GUI that allows the configuration of Asterisk without the need for editing config files. If you use AMP be careful not to make manual changes to the config files that will affect AMP?s operation.
Flash Operator Panel
- Flash Operator Panel is a real-time web interface to Asterisk. You can see what all of your extensions, trunks, and conferences are doing. We have extension 200 set up for testing. This is a live extension and will work as soon as a phone is registered to ext 200. The rest of the buttons are dummy objects for examples.
- The op_buttons.conf file has all of the configs for each button in Flash Operator Panel you can edit this using the Config Edit button on the maint menu. You must reboot the Asterisk or restart the panel service after you make changes. The normal config files for Flash Operator Panel end in .cfg we changed them to .conf so they would match the other Asterisk files.
Cisco XML Services
- Asterisk@Home has a Cisco XML Services that can be used to look up contacts in a database. Click on Web Address Book from the Asterisk@Home main menu. (user: admin password: password) and enter all of your contacts and their phone numbers.
Music On Hold (mpg123)
- Asterisk@Home has now uses mpg123 for music on hold. Put a call on hold and they hear music not dead air!
Fax support (SpanDSP)
- SpanDSP allows Asterisk to receive faxes. You can set this up in AMP.

Super Sparrow enables users to load balance traffic between geographically separated points of presence by finding the site network-wise closest to clients.
This is done by accessing BGP routing information, the information that determines the path that traffic will take on the internet. Super Sparrow forms part of VAnessa. Super Sparrow is made to work with other components of VAnessa, including Ultra Monkey.
Main features:
- Uses BGP routing information to determine which point of presence a client should connect to.
- Routing information can be obtained from a Route Server running GNU Zebra, Gated or Cisco IOS.
- Driver module, mod_supersparrow, for Dents enables Super Sparrow enhanced sites to used DNS to communicate which server a client should connect to.
- Stand-alone programme, supersparrow, enables Super Sparrow to be integrated into applications that can communicate using stdio. This can be used to tie Super Sparrow directly into The Apache HTTP Server.
- Library API to enable applications to be integrated with Super Sparrow.
- Code is Open Source.
