VDB Chinese Chess 1.10
VDB Chinese Chess is a Chinese chess program. more>>
VDB Chinese Chess is a Chinese chess program which uses pictures instead of Chinese letters so people who arent Chinese can play it. VDB Chinese Chess supports 99 levels and different computer levels can play against each other.
Installation :
Step 1: Make sure that all necessary components are installed!
This program needs:
1. g++: Gnu c++ support including header files
2. xaw3d: 3D-extension for the Athena Widget Set if you cannot find it you can change xaw3d by xaw in src/Makefile.in but the program will not look so nicely
3. Standard Template Library
Actually this program will use only one header file for the function max(), that returns the maximum of two values. You can implement that yourself. 4. xpm: this is a library for icons in x- all board pieces are implemented with this library, this library is very common under X, so it should be included in your distribution 5. pthread: this is used for multithreading, sometimes also called pthreads, you might have to change this in your src/Makefile.in
Step 2:download this program and unzip it in the directory you want to run it. There is NO separate installation directory! tar xfz cchess.tar.gz
Step 3: cd cchess_dist/cchess
Step 4: ./configure
make
make install
Rules of Chinese Chess:
Indeed, Chinese Chess is very similar to Chess but there are some differences according how to move your pieces on the board and the following:
1. You cannot exchange the pawn against some other piece if you reach the end of the board
2. There is no rochade and moving "en passant"
3. You lose the game also if you are stalemate
4. If both kings are on the same column there must be one piece between them
5. If there is three times the same position because of the same moves you must move different next time
6. The pieces are not black and white but red and black. Red moves first.
There are the following important locations:
The two palaces, each consists of nine fields marked by two diagonal lines.
The river: The area in the middle of the board, that is not interrupted by lines
The pieces on the board move the following way:
King: Can only move one field forward or to the side, not diagonal. Has to stay inside the palace
Pawn: Moves one field forward. If he is beyond the river he can also moves side wards
Rock: Moves one or more fields to the side, forward, backward but not diagonal
Cannon: Moves one or more fields to the side, forward, backward but not diagonal. Must always jump over one piece!
Horse: Moves one field straight, one field diagonal, cannot move over another piece.
Elephant: Moves exactly 2 fields diagonal, cannot move over the river
Mandarin: Has to stay inside the palace. Moves one field diagonal.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes some defects in the game strategy.

Unix I-Ching Generator 0.8.1
Unix I-Ching Generator is an I Ching generator for the Unix command line. more>>
Unix I-Ching Generator project is an I Ching generator for the Unix command line.
It accepts questions and generates responses that can be looked up in the I Ching (a Chinese divination book).
It is designed around "spiritual algorithms", that is, algorithms that make some sort of sense spiritually, not just programatically.
This is software that automates the casting of I-Ching hexagrams. It does not provide the interpretations or readings of those hexagrams.
It merely outputs a mandella of two hexagrams and then informs you of the numerical identity of each hexagram.
Enhancements:
- Moved global options to header file. (ARJ)
- Changed unigram::cast() so that it relied on globals. (ARJ)
- Fixed spelling errors. (ARJ)

Thesaurus 0.23
Thesaurus is a Perl module that maintains lists of associated items. more>>
Thesaurus is a Perl module that maintains lists of associated items.
SYNOPSIS
use Thesaurus;
my $th = Thesaurus->new( -files => [ file1, file2 ],
-ignore_case => 1 );
@words = $th->find(vegan);
%words = $th->find( Faye );
foreach $word ( @{ $words{Faye} } )
{
#something ...
}
$th->add_file( file1, file2 );
$th->add( [ tofu, mock duck ] );
$th->delete( meat, vivisection );
Thesaurus is a module that allows you to create lists of related things. It was created in order to facilitate searches of a database of Chinese names in Anglicized form. Because there are various schemes to create phonetic representations of Chinese words, the following can all represent the same Chinese character:
Woo
Wu
Ng
Thesaurus can be used for anything that fits into a scalar by using the new method with no parameters and then calling the add method to add data.
Thesaurus also acts as the parent class to several child classes which implement various forms of persistence for the data structure. This module can be used on its own to instantiate an object that lives for the life of its scope.

Encode::HanExtra 0.10
Encode::HanExtra Perl module contains extra sets of Chinese encodings. more>>
Encode::HanExtra Perl module contains extra sets of Chinese encodings.
SYNOPSIS
use Encode;
# Traditional Chinese
$euc_tw = encode("euc-tw", $utf8); # loads Encode::HanExtra implicitly
$utf8 = decode("euc-tw", $euc_tw); # ditto
# Simplified Chinese
$gb18030 = encode("gb18030", $utf8); # loads Encode::HanExtra implicitly
$utf8 = decode("gb18030", $gb18030); # ditto
Perl 5.7.3 and later ships with an adequate set of Chinese encodings, including the commonly used CP950, CP936 (also known as GBK), Big5 (alias for Big5-Eten), Big5-HKSCS, EUC-CN, HZ, and ISO-IR-165.
However, the numbers of Chinese encodings are staggering, and a complete coverage will easily increase the size of perl distribution by several megabytes; hence, this CPAN module tries to provide the rest of them.
If you are using perl 5.8 or later, Encode::CN and Encode::TW will automatically load the extra encodings for you, so theres no need to explicitly write use Encode::HanExtra if you are using one of them already.

BIG5-1984
This is the original Big5 encoding made by TCA Taiwan.
BIG5PLUS
This encoding, while not heavily used, is an attempt to bring all Taiwans conflicting internal-use encodings together, and fit it as an extension to the widely-deployed Big5 range, by CMEX Taiwan.
BIG5EXT
The CMEXs second (and less ambitious) try at unifying the most commonly used characters not covered by Big5, while not polluting out of the 94x94 arragement like BIG5PLUS did.
CCCII
The earliest (and most sophisticated) Traditional Chinese encoding, with a three-byte raw character map, made in 1980 by the Chinese Character Analysis Group (CCAG), used mostly in library systems.
EUC-TW
The EUC transport version of CNS11643 (planes 1-7), the comprehensive character set used by the Taiwan government.
CNS11643-*
The raw character map extracted from the Unihan database, including the plane F which wasnt included in EUC-TW.
GB18030
An extension to GBK, this encoding lists most Han characters (both simplified and traditional), as well as some other encodings used by other peoples in China.
UNISYS
Unisys Systems internal Chinese mapping.
