Free children under software for linux

Childsplay is a suite of educational games for young children, like gcompris, but without the overkill of c/c++ and the gnome environ.

Also the use of the SDL libraries makes smooth animation and the playing of sound very easy. Childsplay uses a plugin system for the games, so you might want to check the childsplay-plugins page. (There are two built-in games; Memory and a typing game)

Childsplay and the games are GNU-GPL licensed and are tested on GNU/Linux, FreeBSD.

Echo2 Extras provides a collection of additional user interface components for the Echo2 framework. Echo2 Extras project is currently under development and should be considered beta-quality software.
Current components provided by the Extras library include:
- AccordionPane: A tabbed container that displays its contents between vertical separators with only one child component displayed at a time. The separators slide up and down with an animated effect when the user changes selection by clicking on a separator.
- BorderPane: A simple single-child container that displays its content surrounded by a graphically drawn FillImageBorder.
- CalendarSelect: A date selection component which provides a view of an entire calendar month to aid in selection.
- ColorSelect: An Hue-Saturation-Value based color selection component.
- PulldownMenu: A pull-down menu component with the capability to display submenus and toggle/radio items.
- TabPane: A traditional tabbed pane implementation. This component can lazy-render its children to reduce initial load times.
Enhancements:
- Opacity-based fades were added to TransitionPane.
- The Calendar component has been localized for English, German, French, Greek, Italian, Spanish, and 1337.
- IE6 BorderPane rendering issues were fixed, including enabling transparent borders with this browser.

CrunchyFrog is a database schema browser and query tool written in Python/PyGTK. CrunchyFrogs current status is under development, but its useable for the most common tasks.

Slune is a 3D action car game.

Along the game, youll learn that patents hurt software, as well as medical domain too. At the different exposition (RMLL 2003 and 2004,...) we have showed it, Slune was found very attractive by young children (7-12 years old).

EasyChem is a program designed to draw chemical molecules, written under Linux and using Gtk+ 2.
Main features:
- Drawing very easily ornaments (non-bonding electron pairs, ...)
- EPS exporting with LaTeX fonts (Computer Modern)

PySyCache is an educational program for young children (4-7 years old).

pysycaches purpose is to teach them to manipulate the mouse by uncovering a picture with mouse movements.

This game doesnt want some powerfull computer, and it can be used at home with yours children or in the schools

The target of PySyCache is that child must show a picture hidden by a cache. In this order, the mouse movements erase the cache and the picture appears step by step.

CartoWeb is a comprehensive and ready-to-use Web-GIS (Geographical Information System) as well as a convenient framework for building advanced and customized applications.
Developed by Camptocamp SA, it is based on the UMN MapServer engine and is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
Written using innovative language PHP5, CartoWeb is highly modular and customizable thanks to its object-oriented architecture. CartoWeb project runs evenly on Windows or Unix-like platforms and shows its real power when associated to PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
Last but not least, CartoWeb may be set up as a SOAP Web Service enabling to have front-end server on one machine and data and map generation on an other.

PHP FastFileCache caches output from dynamic PHP scripts, and stores them in files for fast retrieval under high server load.
