WEP Key Changer 0.2

WEP Key Changer 0.2

WEP Key Changer project, in short WepKC is a client/server application that allows you to protect your wireless network. more>>
WEP Key Changer project, in short WepKC is a client/server application that allows you to protect your ad-hoc (point to point) wireless network when you are unable to use (due to software or hardware limitations) sophisticated protocols like WPA.

The program consists out of two parts:

the wepkcd daemon, which randomly changes the WEP key after a specified amount of time and sends the chosen key, encrypted with AES, to the wepkcc client
the wepkcc client, which receives the key through the encrypted channel and changes the WEP key in the client machine

The server also waits for packets ("pings") from the client, resetting the WEP key to a defined value when the client goes down and stops pinging the server.

If someone tries to use the wireless network without contacting the server, the connection will be dropped repeatedly in order to prevent further annoyance from strangers (please note that this feature, at the moment, works only in *nix systems).

And its very easy to setup and use.

MAC Changer GUI 0.03

MAC Changer GUI 0.03

MAC Changer GUI will display and change your MAC address to a user supplied or random value. more>>
MAC Changer GUI will display and change your MAC address to a user supplied or random value.

Created with kommander 1.3.0. Not sure if it works with previous versions.

Depends on kdialog and must be executed with the kdesu command.

Example:

kdesu kmdr-executor /home/someDIR/mac.kmdr

As this script is executed using root privileges it is good practice to inspect the script for malicious content. With that being said there is nothing in the script that can harm your computer. A reboot will restore your original MAC if you forget its value and want to change it back.

NachoCalendar 0.23

NachoCalendar 0.23

NachoCalendar is intended to provide a fully customizable calendar component for Java. more>>
NachoCalendar is intended to provide a fully customizable calendar component for Java. NachoCalendar has three components: DateField, MonthPanel, and CalendarPanel.
DateField
This component can be used instead of a JFormattedField, in fact it uses one. You can write directly the date in it or display the Calendar to navigate between months. It extends from JPanel so can be used in any Swing/AWT application.
The DateField can also be used withing a JTable.
DatePanel
This component is used to show a month permanently. You can add convenient Listeners to react to day changes. It extends from JPanel also.
CalendarPanel
This is the last (for now) component. It shows many months at once. They are synchronized, so they are always ordered and always only one date is selected. This component can be oriented horizontal or vertical. You can select the quantity of months to show. The position of the scrollbar and the year changer can be changed.
Enhancements:
- JTableCustomizer: fixed DateRendererDecorator constructor
- Added moon phase support (thanks to Leo Welsh)
- Added "eternal scroll" to CalendarPanel (thanks to Leo Welsh)
- Demos updated
- Lots of small fixes

Amanda CDRW-Taper 0.4

Amanda CDRW-Taper 0.4

Amanda CDRW-Taper is a drop-in replacement for the taper component of the Amanda backup system. more>>
Amanda is a client/server application for making remote backups. While originating from a UNIX environment, it also supports backups of windows machines (via the smbclient utility). Client software for other machines is planned. See the Amanda homepage for details.

Amanda CDRW-Taper program is a drop-in replacement for the taper component of the Amanda backup system. CDRW-Taper makes it possible to dump backups to CD-RW, DVD+RW or DVD-RW instead of tape. CDRW-Taper is licensed under the GNU general public license (version 2) (see COPYING for more information).

The original version of the CDRW-Taper simply copied the backed up data from Amandas holding disk to an intermediate directory. After the backup was finished, the CDRW-Taper program created an ISO-9660 image from the intermediate directory which was burnt on a CDRW.

After using this setup for about half a year it became clear, that CDRW media were simply too small for our purposes. While Amanda does support tape changers, the CDRW-Taper has no such equivalent.

One option was to move to a larger type of media, like DVD+R or "double density" CDRW, without changing the software. The other, at that time cheaper option was to change the software to emulate some kind of CDRW changer.

The idea is to have the taper copy the backed up data to several intermediate directories, each representing a single CDRW. After the backup is finished, these can be burnt to CDRW one by one. The changing of the media can be done manually.

The nice thing about this is that this way you can also back up to hard disk. Diskspace has become cheap, so you can have all of your backups available online, and still burn them all on removable media (to be stored in a safe place).

Meanwhile, DVD+RW have become sufficiently cheap to present an interesting alternative to the clumsy manual process involved with backups to multiple CDRW. Therefore, the current version has been extended to support backup to DVD+R/+RW and DVD-R/-RW media as well, using the dvd+rw-tools.

AbsVolume 4.3

AbsVolume 4.3

A quick volume adjuster for Linux more>>
AbsVolume 4.3 provides you with a very useful and quick volume adjuster which is designed for Linux. Quick volume changer for OSS/Alsa on Linux. Make it to plug into my toolbar of IceWM. Very small and simple, written in C and GTK. Version 4.3 runs in the system tray (by your clock.) • Fix - uses alsamixergui by default if present (earlier typo prevented this)
  • Fix - closes volume slider automatically when mixer is selected (had not done so when custom mixer was set)

cfourcc 0.1.2

cfourcc 0.1.2

This program identifies the codec used in AVI files (*.avi) and allow the user to change the FourCC description code. more>>
This program identifies the codec used in AVI files (*.avi) and allow the user to change the FourCC description code (like fourcc-changer in Windows). It is useful for people working with Microsoft AVI file.
I created this simple program after reading divx/mpeg4 related forums. It comes to me that there arent any software developed in GNU/Linux (nor other UN*X-variant) that have similiar functionality as "Nics Mini AviC" in Microsoft Windows platform.
FourCC (Four Character Code) is a (rather crude) method to identify codec used to encode Microsoft RIFF AVI files. Application software/hardware use the FourCC to correctly select a codec suitable for playing the AVI file in question. The problem arises when a video player (usually the hardware one) fail to recognize a FourCC, and unable to select a newer/compatible codec to play the AVI file. This simple program solves this problem by providing a simple way to change the FourCC of the AVI file to a value accepted by the video player.
Enhancements:
- add -f (force) option to enable changing FourCC in unsupported files.
