dpkg-changes 1.2

dpkg-changes 1.2

dpkg-changes is a simple script which will report on the packages which have been installed, or uninstalled. more>>
dpkg-changes is a simple script which will report on the packages which have been installed and uninstalled, since the script was last run.

It does this by building up a list of all the packages installed upon your system the first time it is run, then comparing that list against what the system reports whenever it is subsequently run.

The intention is that it can be placed in a crontab file for a user and be run on a daily/weekly basis to give a good idea of what has changed upon the machine.

This is particularly handy when a server is maintained by multiple people, as it allows all admins to be informed when a new package is installed.

chngpwd 1.0.0

chngpwd 1.0.0

chngpwd is a secure wrapper to change user passwords another user in a PAM-enabled system. more>>
chngpwd is a secure wrapper to change user passwords another user in a PAM-enabled system.

chngpwds main use is as a wrapper for other interfaces to communicate with the user (e.g., Web interface).

It was build with security in mind, so there should not be any security bugs or holes opened by it (But you should check by your self before using it).

It requires: Authen::PAM from CPAN and Sys::Syslog (your perl distribution should have it already).

The main use for this is as a wrapper for changing password securily (e.g. from a web interface). So the cgi or whatever is being used doesnt need to deal with this issues (and run the cgi as suid root).

The script is rich in error messages and exit codes, so it is easy to track down errors, misconfiguration and abuses.

Also, on some critical circunstances it will try to mail the admin in a unknown event. Everything that it does is also logged to Syslog.

As it uses PAM to change passwords, it should work on any PAM aware system (almost all Linux distributions, Solaris and at some extend HP-UX). I just tested it on Linux (Conectiva Linux and Debian btw).

Chora H3 2.0.2

Chora H3 2.0.2

Chora is built upon the Horde Application Framework and provides a read-only browser interface to any number of version control. more>>
Chora is our tool for viewing code repositories that are managed using the CVS or Subversion source control systems. The project aims to provide a high degree of integration with CVS, SVN and the other Horde web-based tools.
Right now, Chora comes close to matching existing CVS-Web scripts feature for feature, and provides a solid base for future development. Some exciting new features include a visual branch viewing tool, which intelligently displays the branch history of a given file. Branches have traditionally been a source of confusion when using CVS, and this feature aims to make it a bit clearer and easier to use.
Chora is designed from the ground-up with customisability in mind, since Version Control Systems are used in a variety of different ways. Because of this, all the repository manipulation logic is abstracted away in our VC library module.
The main PHP scripts are simple HTML rendering scripts, while the complex repository logic is hidden away in the library. This library can be used for a variety of other uses, such as searching for commits, graph generation, change collation, etc (all features planned for eventual inclusion into Chora).
Enhancements:
- The sort order of patchsets has been changed to match commit log ordering.
- A Danish translation has been added, and almost all other translations have been updated.

Network Device Change Control 3.10

Network Device Change Control 3.10

Network Device Change Control (NDCC) is a system that monitors and records changes to the configurations of network equipment. more>>
Network Device Change Control (NDCC) is a system that monitors and records changes to the configurations of network equipment.

Network Device Change Control can store configuration snapshots for any text-based configs. It has been used to store configurations from Unix and Linux systems, Cisco routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls, Foundry, NetScreen, Juniper, NetScaler, and others.

It only took a while to realize that router changes should be tracked. I rewrote the system to give a current and once-back system of configurations. Since I was using diff, I decided to leave the diff information in the system. Those diffs were emailed to a group so everyone knew when something was changed, along with what was changed.

Some time later, a bank needed to track configuration files, and the system was upgraded for use within a database. The first implementation was using perl as a CGI script against a PostgreSQL database. The company wanted many changes made for their auditing needs and most of those changes enhanced NDCC. Upgrades to their environment moved things to PHP and MySQL, and the system was rewritten for that environment and the old perl code has since been lost.

BitTyrant for Linux 1.1.1

BitTyrant for Linux 1.1.1

A new, protocol compatible BitTorrent client that is optimized for fast download more>> BitTyrant is a new, protocol compatible BitTorrent client that is optimized for fast download performance. BitTyrant is...
Fast:During evaluation testing on more than 100 real BitTorrent swarms, BitTyrant provided an average 70% download performance increase when compared to the existing Azureus 2.5 implementation, with some downloads finishing more than three times as quickly.
Fair:BitTorrent was designed with incentives in mind:if a user is downloading at 30 KBps, they should upload at 30 KBps. However, due to the unique workload properties of many real-world swarms, this is not always enforced. BitTyrant is designed to make efficient use of your scarce upload bandwidth, rewarding those users whose upload allocations are fair and only allocating excess capacity to other users.
Familiar:BitTyrant is based on modifications to Azureus 2.5, currently the most popular BitTorrent client. All of our changes are under the hood. You find the GUI identical to Azureus, with optional additions to display statistics relevant to BitTyrant operation.
