JChav 1.1.0
JChav is a way to see the change in performance of your Web application over time by running a benchmark test for each build. more>>
JChav is a way to see the change in performance of your Web application over time by running a benchmark test for each build you produce. JChav project is an Ant task that, when used in conjunction with the JMeter ant task, produces historic views of the performance of your application.
Charts are produced for individaul pages of the application along with summary data. If integrated with cruise-control or similar build tools, you will get an idea if the changes you are making to your Web application are improving or degrading performance.
How does it work?
- You build and deploy your application.
- You write a JMeter test plan to exercise your application.
- From Ant, you run the JMeter test plan and log the results, using the Ant JMeter task.
- JChav reads all the JMeter logs from each of your runs (one per build), and produces a set of charts for each test in each run.
- Each time you deploy, re-run the JMeter tests and the JChav tool to update the charts to show the change in performance.
- By running this often you can see the effect of code change on your application performance.

B-Chat 0.13
B-Chat is a small application which allows you to chat on Battle.net. more>>
B-Chat is a small application which allows you to chat on Battle.net.
It has no fancy GUI interface (yet :-), but I have plans for making it Gnome compliant.
However, at the moment it works pretty much like the regular UNIX telnet client, with the lines that are being sent and received mixed into eachother.
It can make it hard to read at times, but it serves my purpose.
I started work on this client because I wanted a way to chat with my friends on Battle.net while I was on Linux.
I really didnt feel like rebooting to Windows just to run TopazChat or ScumBot (I dont like Wine either :-), so I decided to code my own chat client.
The client is still in its early stages, so its very rough and may be hard to use. You have to supply the name o the Battle.net server that you are going to be connecting to. This will change in the future.

rblcheck 1.5
rblcheck is a lightweight C program for doing checks against Paul Vixies MAPS Blackhole List and the ORBS open relay list. more>>
rblcheck is a lightweight C program for doing checks against Paul Vixies MAPS Blackhole List and the ORBS open relay list. It works well in conjunction with Procmail for filtering unwanted and spamming bulk email.
The general idea behind RBL-style listings is rapid lookup of IP addresses using DNS (for example, for blacklisting IP addresses because of abuse). Each IP address is reversed and has a domain name attached to it; for example, the IP address 127.0.0.2 would become 2.0.0.127, and then a domain such as "relays.visi.com" would be added to it. You would then try to resolve the result (ie. 2.0.0.127.relays.visi.com); if you receive a positive reply, then you know that the address is listed. Further information can also be queried, such as text descriptions of why the address was listed.
Enhancements:
- Converted to automake/autoconf for configuration, which should make it easier to extend portability
- Added support for checking multiple addresses in one invokation.
- Added support for reading addresses to check from standard input, by specifying an argument of -.
- Changed rbl.dorkslayers.com to relays.orbs.org, due to a change in management.

Network Device Change Control 3.10
Network Device Change Control (NDCC) is a system that monitors and records changes to the configurations of network equipment. more>>
Network Device Change Control (NDCC) is a system that monitors and records changes to the configurations of network equipment.
Network Device Change Control can store configuration snapshots for any text-based configs. It has been used to store configurations from Unix and Linux systems, Cisco routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls, Foundry, NetScreen, Juniper, NetScaler, and others.
It only took a while to realize that router changes should be tracked. I rewrote the system to give a current and once-back system of configurations. Since I was using diff, I decided to leave the diff information in the system. Those diffs were emailed to a group so everyone knew when something was changed, along with what was changed.
Some time later, a bank needed to track configuration files, and the system was upgraded for use within a database. The first implementation was using perl as a CGI script against a PostgreSQL database. The company wanted many changes made for their auditing needs and most of those changes enhanced NDCC. Upgrades to their environment moved things to PHP and MySQL, and the system was rewritten for that environment and the old perl code has since been lost.

ShoutChat 0.1.8
ShoutChat is a PHP script which allows developers to add an instant message (or IRC) like shout box to Web sites. more>>
ShoutChat is a PHP script which allows developers to add an instant message (or IRC) like shout box to Web sites.
The shoutchat is an iframe element (Mozilla compatible), and the script operates using Javascript and stores the messages in a MySQL database (a file gets complicated with synchronous posts, so a database was favored).
The look of the box is controlled through styles.
All the modern browsers are supported (including Konqueror).
In order to act more like an instant chat, it handles some of the details that other shout boxes do not.
It uses Javascript head requests to check for new messages, refreshing the iframe and scrolling down to the new message when one is detected.
Several IRC features are included, such as channels. Finally, a text formatting engine called FastFormat code is used to decorate text and create special links.
Enhancements:
- renamed project to ShoutChat to reflect the change in direction the project took
- migrated to two tables, one for shouts, the other for channels
- updated database script

Kandau 0.1
Kandau is a library that offers an easy way to store and retrieve C++ objects. more>>
Kandau is a library that offers an easy way to store and retrieve C++ objects (and its relations with other objects) into whatever backend you can imagine. Currently implemented are the SQL, XML and .desktop backends. Kandau uses Qt & KDE libraries and is released under the LGPL.
Because Kandau is backend independent it may be as interesting for storing configuration information as it is for storing information in a relational database. Furthermore, you can switch the backend without any change in the source code, and its thus transparent to the application developer.
Please, note that the Kandau project is still considered alpha software but already provides some interesting features. Developers and testers are very welcome in order to improve features and stability.
Enhancements:
- This is not exactly a release but a public announcement. Source Download links to a nightly updated snapshot of the source code in the Subversion repository.
