Kumula Cases 0.1

Kumula Cases 0.1

Kumula Cases is a case management software for lawyers. more>>
Kumula Cases is a case management software for lawyers (similar to programs like Amicus Attorney or RA-Micro), based upon the Kumula package. It was part of my diploma thesis and consists of multiple parts:

Cases:

The main application for handling the case files. It shows active and closed case files, and also the appointments and time limits of all cases. When opening a case file, it starts "CaseData", which is merely an "internal" application.

CaseData

Displays the content of one case file. Because of splitting the case management and the case contents, its possible to:

- work with different cases at the same time
- open a case from Cases and Clients (see below)
- open a case directly from your desktop (if you create a shortcut there)
This case content program is also modular and brings the following modules with it:
- Header, for storing reference number, case title etc.
- Parties, for managing clients, contrahents and third parties
- Events, for recording appointments, time limits and resubmissions
- Documents, for assigning letters and other documents to a case file
- Journal, for register revenues and expenses related to a case

Cases module for Clients

This module for Kumulas client management program shows the cases in which a client is involved, including the possibility to open the case file directly.

gnome-o-phone 0.5.2

gnome-o-phone 0.5.2

Gnome-o-phone (gphone for short) is an internet telephone. more>>
Gnome-o-phone (gphone for short) is an internet telephone. In other words, if you and your friend have computers with sound cards and network connections, you can use gphone to talk to each other and save on phone bills. Gphone is definitely a work in progress and you probably shouldnt bet your business on it; if it breaks you can keep both pieces. Dont be too hard on the program, though -- the user interface is a bit rough but gphone does work pretty well.
As the name implies, it aims to be fully gnome-groovy, but that hasnt quite happened yet. Gphone is definitely a work in progress and you probably shouldnt bet your
business on it. Dont be too hard on the program, though -- although the user interface is mighty rough, gphone does actually work pretty well. Ive only tested the program over ethernet, but the data rate should be low enough to work over a reasonable modem connection.
The protocol is nominally RTP/RTCP, and gphone complies well enough with the standard to be able to talk to speakfreely. Ive only tested the UNIX version of speakfreely, but as long as you tell sfmike to use RTP and GSM compression, it seems to work fine. Maybe someday Ill add in support for other codecs; encryption is a little less likely
because Id just as soon not open that legal can of worms. One easy way to get some security would be to modify my program rtptunnel to tunnel the RTP protocol through a SSL socket instead of a straight TCP socket.
Gphone supports full duplex if your sound card has this feature. Ive had good luck using the ALSA drivers for my SB16.
Enhancements:
- gphone/gphone.c: Add Jorge Gomes Silvas patch to fix config button crash.

METHODS
The following methods from Number::Phone are overridden:
is_valid
The number is valid within the national numbering scheme. It may or may not yet be allocated, or it may be reserved. Any number which returns true for any of the following methods will also be valid.
is_allocated
The number has been allocated to a telco for use. It may or may not yet be in use or may be reserved. Not currently implemented.
is_geographic
The number refers to a geographic area.
is_fixed_line
The number, when in use, can only refer to a fixed line.
is_mobile
The number, when in use, can only refer to a mobile phone.
is_pager
The number, when in use, can only refer to a pager.
is_tollfree
Callers will not be charged for calls to this number under normal circumstances.
is_specialrate

is_adult
The number, when in use, goes to a service of an adult nature, such as porn.
is_network_service
The number is some kind of network service such as a human operator, directory enquiries, emergency services etc
country_code
Returns 353.
regulator
Returns some text in an appropriate character set saying who the telecoms regulator is, with optional details such as their web site or phone number.
areacode
Return the area code - if applicable - for the number. If not applicable, returns undef.
areaname
Return the area name - if applicable - for the number, or undef.
subscriber
Return the subscriber part of the number
operator
Return the name of the telco operating this number, in an appropriate character set and with optional details such as their web site or phone number. Not currently implemented.
format
Return a sanely formatted version of the number, complete with IDD code, eg for the Irish number (021) 765-4321 it would return +353 21 7654321.
country
If the number is_international, return the two-letter ISO country code.
NYI
Version restrictions:
- Strictly sppeaking, this kind of duplication of the Number::Phone::UK class is bad. A tidy-up is in order, though it may emerge that a completely new implemantation is better.
- The results are only as accurate as my own investigations into current allocations. User feedback welcome.
- While the names of the nominal owners of mobile prefixes are given, number portability makes this information unreliable.

Cell Electrophysiology Simulation Environment 1.4.6

Cell Electrophysiology Simulation Environment 1.4.6

Cell Electrophysiology Simulation Environment is a simulation environment for electrophysiology. more>>
Cell Electrophysiology Simulation Environment (CESE) is a comprehensive framework specifically designed to perform computational electrophysiological simulations, for example, simulations of cardiac myocyte electrical activity.
Cell Electrophysiology Simulation Environment is useful for simulations of action potentials, individual ionic currents, and changes in ionic concentrations.
CESE is a cross-platform program, it runs on any system that has Java runtime environment (JRE) version 1.4 or above. It was tested on Windows, Linux, Solaris, MacOS X, and AIX.
CESE users
CESE is an integrated environment for performing computational simulations using a variety of electrophysiological models.
At this stage CESE allows creation and execution of the single-cell models (containing both Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) and Markovian current formulations). Models of electrical activity of cardiac myocytes with source code are included in the CESE distribution. We hope to extend the number of available models, and add certain neuronal models in the future.
The main strength of CESE is in its uniformity ? a program interface remains the same for different types of models. You can easily switch between models and compare simulation outputs. Model parameters can be modified, selected for output and/or clamped in the same, standard way.
CESE extends the conventional electrophysiological meaning of the "voltage clamp". You can clamp virtually any model variable, including voltage (membrane potential), total or individual ionic currents, ionic concentrations, temperature, gating variables, etc. The clamping commands can be complex piece-wise functions, individually set for the model variable of interest. This opens endless possibilities for the exploration of complex model behavior.
CESE provides simple, but efficient data visualizations. Simulation results can be presented in the graphic and tabulated forms. Plots can be customized, and regions of interest zoomed.
Even though CESE was not designed to be a data analysis tool, you can generate current-voltage relationships (I-Vs) and calculate statistical parameters for a given signal within the program. You can export your data to ASCII, Axon Text File (ATF), and NetCDF formats to continue analysis in your favorite package.
CESE developers
CESE was created from the ground up to incorporate the best programming practices available to Java developers, both in terms of user interface consistency and code clarity and reuse. Wherever possible, CESE rely on available Java APIs (for example Java2D, JavaBeans, JAXP) to simplify the code.
Model creation requires a number of house-keeping functions to be coded ? these include ODE integrators, routines for handling model parameters, saving/restoring model state, visualizing simulation results, etc. CESE provides you with implementation for these routines, hence, you can concentrate on writing the code for concrete ionic current(s), and CESE will handle the rest.
CESE is not trying to create complicated programming frameworks on its own ? rather, it utilizes core Java APIs. For example, models are Java components conforming to the JavaBeans specification. We use XML to specify clamping commands, and Java object serialization to save/restore model parameters.
Enhancements:
- This release improves results printing, adds export to the scalable vector graphics (SVG) format, improves support for continuous simulations, and fixes many bugs in plot rendering and model switching.

DESCRIPTION ^
This module provides several functions to configure and to maintain an AFS cell. It is used to maintain the configuration directory. Any function required must by explicitly listed by the use statement to be exported into the calling package.
Some of these functions have the optional argument FOLLOW. FOLLOW determines which file should be used should PATH be a symbolic link. If FOLLOW be set to 1, then the symbolic link is followed to its target. If FOLLOW is set to 0, then the function applies to the symbolic link itself. If not specified FOLLOW defaults to 1.
