Installation:
The simplest way to compile this package is:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.
Running `configure takes a while. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
4. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean.

Payroll Perl Modules 1.3
Business::Payroll is a series of Perl Modules that provides an API for working with multiple countries federal, state taxes. more>>
Business::Payroll is a series of Perl Modules that provides an API for working with multiple countries federal, state and local taxes.
Payroll Perl Modules project also supports calculating mileage reimbursement values and can handle adjustment entries.
The Business::Payroll module starts with an xml document in the Input format and if everything is successfull, outputs the results in the Output XML format.
Currently only the US is supported and MO is the only supported state. We are not supporting any cities in MO yet. Federal Income, FICA, Medicare and Mileage Rates are all being calculated. We take into account the number of allowances people can claim and the fact that you can withhold more for federal and state.
Federal Income tables are only available for any date >= 07/01/2001.
See the payroll_test.pl script and input.xml file for a sample implementation.
Use process_payroll (in the /usr/bin directory after an rpm install, otherwise in the payroll-x.y directory) to actually process payroll files for real.
process_payroll will take the specified raw xml file and process it. If no errors occured, then you get the result on stdout. If you specify 2 file names the result will go into the second file. You can specify - (for the first file) and it will know to work with stdin. I.e. you can pipe the file to be processed. Ex. cat input.xml | process_payroll - would process input.xml from the stdin and then output the result to stdout.
Enhancements:
- This release has been updated to cover the 2006 tax changes.

Beanie 0.1
Beanie is a flexible, distributed accounting system for medium-sized companies. more>>
Beanie is a flexible, distributed accounting system for medium-sized companies.
It includes back-end batch processing as well as a GTK GUI and provides automated purchases, sales, and nominal ledgers as well as automated invoicing (via email).
Beanie project also supports payroll and VAT.
Installation:
STEP ONE:
You must create a user on the system called beanie. This unprivileged user will own all the accounting files and executables. The home directory of this user will be the main location for all accounting files so choose wisely. Examples are /v/beanie or
/var/accounts.
This is an example of the password entry:
beanie:*:101:20:The Accounting System:/v/beanie:/bin/csh
Make sure you set the BEANIEROOT environment variable in the file beanie.mk to the home directory of the beanie user.
STEP TWO:
You must create a MySQL database called beanie. You then need to create a user also called beanie with a 8 to 10 character password which has full access to this database. Check that you can access the new database using the following command:
% mysql -h -u beanie -p beanie
You will be prompted for a password. Enter the password you set on the account and youre now ready to create a config.h file.
STEP THREE:
Copy the file config.h.sample to config.h and edit it. You will find information on how to configure this file in the comment blocks of the file. Note that the MAIN_DBHOST and DBPWD_CHARxx values need to match what you entered above.
STEP FOUR:
Edit the file beanie.mk and make sure that the defaults are OK.
Once you have completed these steps, compile the source by running the following commands:
% make clean all
% make install
You may need to run the second make as root in order to have permissions to create directories and some binary files (such as xeparse which needs to be installed in /usr/libexec).
STEP FIVE:
You need to create a cron(8) entry for the beanie user. There is a sample cron entry in the file crontab.sample. Edit this file and change $BEANIEROOT to be the home directory of the beanie user. Then, either logged in as beanie or as root, run the following command:
% crontab -u beanie < crontab.sample
This makes sure the overnight processing is performed every evening at 11PM. Each day, the databases will be backed up and the daily operations (such as invoicing, etc) will be performed. Each Sunday, the end of week tasks will be performed and on the last day of the month, the monthly, quarterly and annual tasks will be performed.
You can examine these scripts to see what they do:
overnight/acct.prolog
overnight/acct.daily
overnight/acct.weekly
overnight/acct.monthly
overnight/acct.epilog
Edit the tmac source files for your specific information. The key one here is lhead.tmac because this is the source for your company letterhead. Its written in troff.
Youre Done!! Now you just need to run the newcompany program.
Enhancements:
- In this initial release, the billing functionality is very complete and the general ledger functionality is pretty much all there.
- A VAT system was added with a payroll check-in due very shortly.

GNU Aspell 0.60.4
GNU Aspell is an intelligent spell checker. more>>
GNU Aspell is a Free and Open Source spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell. The project can either be used as a library or as an independent spell checker.
Its main feature is that it does a superior job of suggesting possible replacements for a misspelled word than just about any other spell checker out there for the English language. Unlike Ispell, Aspell can also easily check documents in UTF-8 without having to use a special dictionary.
Aspell will also do its best to respect the current locale setting. Other advantages over Ispell include support for using multiple dictionaries at once and intelligently handling personal dictionaries when more than one Aspell process is open at once.
Main features:
- Is an actual library that other programs can link to instead of having to use it through a pipe.
- Does a much better job of suggesting possible replacements for a misspelled word than Ispell does or for that matter any other spell checker I have seen. If you know a spell checker that does a better job please let me know.
- Can learn from users misspellings.
- Can easily check documents in UTF-8 without having to use a special dictionary.
- Has support for using multiple dictionaries at once.
- Is multiprocess intelligent. When a personal dictionary (or replacement list) is saved it will now first update the list against the dictionary on disk in case another process modified it.
- Can share the memory used in the main word list between processes.
- A better, more complete word list for the English language. Word lists are provided for American, British, and Canadian spelling. Special care has been taken to only include one spelling for each word in any particular word list. The word list included in Ispell by contrast only included support for American and British and also tends to included multiple spellings for a word which can mask some spelling errors.

Damn Vulnerable Linux 1.0
Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is a Linux-based (modified Damn Small Linux) tool for IT-Security & IT-Anti-Security. more>>
Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is a Linux-based (modified Damn Small Linux) tool for IT-Security & IT-Anti-Security and Attack & Defense. Damn Vulnerable Linux was initiated for training tasks during university lessons by the IITAC (International Institute for Training, Assessment, and Certification).
Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is highly integrated into the community project crackmes.de (http://www.crackmes.de) and is frequently updated with new community provided lessons. Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is your place either to get the latest Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) distribution, to get new lessons, or to submit own lessons based on the Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) training system.
Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is provided without any fee or charge! Actually, it is a perverted Linux distribution made to be as insecure as possible. It is collection of IT-Security and IT-Anti-Security tools. Additional it includes a fullscaled lesson based environment for Attack & Defense on/for IT systems for self-study or teaching activities during university lectures. Its a Live Linux Distro, which means it runs from a bootable CD in memory without changing the native operating system of the host computer.
As well it can be run within virtual machine environments, such as qemu or vmware. There is no need to install a virtual machine if you use the embedded option. Its sole purpose in life is to put as many security tools at your disposal with as much training options as it can. It contains a huge ammount of lessons including lesson description - and solutions if the level has been solved by a community member at crackmes.de.
Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is meant to be used by both novice and professional security personnel but is not ideal for the Linux uninitiated. Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) assumes you know the basics of Linux as most of your work will be done from the command line. If you are completely new to Linux, its best you stop playing with this system.

dANN 0.1-alpha-RC2 (Java)
dANN is a library to help create artificial neural networks within other programs. more>>
dANN is a library to help create artificial neural networks within other programs. It is currently written in Java, C++, and C#. However C++ and C# versions can only be obtained through the SVN at the moment. Also they are not properly documented and cleaned up, although they work.
Our intentions are two fold. First, to provide a powerful interface for programs to include artificial neural network technology into their code. Second, To act as a testing ground for research and development of new AI concepts. We hope to provide bleeding edge AI technology both in house and out in our library. However, we will keep the simplified base classes for flexiblity and simplicity.
dANN is currently in the alpha stage so there is no stable release as of yet.
Ive included a package of examples. Right now it only contains one example, an exclusive OR switch (called an XOR).
However, in the future there will be more examples added. If you use the examples dont forget to make sure you have the library in the classpath when you do.
If you need any help installing, compiling, or patching this software in any way at all please feel free to send me, the author, an e-mail at jeffreyfreeman@syncleus.com or join us on irc on the server irc.freenode.org in channel #dANN I am user tty1, or IM me at AIM: debeomorium, Yahoo: debeomorium, ICQ: 10171249. Im more then happy to help with support in any way i can. My name is Jeff Freeman.
Enhancements:
- The fundamental structure of the library was completely changed.
- The JavaDocs were updated.

Bontmia 0.14
Bontmia is an incremental network backup tool for snapshotting directories. more>>
Bontmia was written by John Enok Vollestad in april 2003 to merge the functionality of glastree and rsync in one application with a more flexible selection of long term storage. It has later gone through some changes to enhance usability
Main features:
Cost
- Tapes cost more than disks and require a tape-drive and possibly also a tape robot.
Reliability
- Disks have a higher MTBF than tapes and they require a tape drive of the same type. Disks can increase MTBF by being connected together to form RAID. Tapes can not. Incremental backup on a disk or a RAID volume does not change the MTBF while incremental backup on tape drastically lower the MTBF. Sometimes tapes written in one drive is difficult to read in another drive. This is a silent error if you do not test the tapes no and then. No such thing on file systems like ReiserFS.
Location
- Tapes is removable media and thereby avoiding the risk of localized disasters. A network connection does the same.
Time
- Copying just the changes gives a fast and efficient backup. Tape drives are very slow. Often slower than the network. Remote backup will therefore usually go faster to disk. Faster backup and efficient storage means one can do backup more often. Once every hour is usually not a problem. This also means rapid restore which is even more important.
Space
- Tapes split the data needlessly since they can not be used with RAID to form bigger volumes as disks can. Using hard-links on a file system gives very good storage efficiency and availability as ordinary file systems with random access.
- There is a lot of remote backup software out there. I wrote Bontmia since I could not find one that did all that I wanted.
Bontmia Functionality
- Each backup is a complete "snapshot" of the backed up directories.
- Files that is not changed since the last backup does not take up extra space and is not transferred over the network.
- Preserves a configurable selection of backups in a similar manner as tape rotation schemes.
- Remote backup is done encrypted over ssh for security reasons.
- Each backup is stored with absolute path.
- It is possible to limit the bandwidth to avoid affecting production systems.
- Support copying files, directories, device files, named pipes, symlinks and hard-links.
- Preserves user id, group id and permissions for all types of files.
Enhancements:
- Added support for specifying the directory for temporary files.
<<lessMain features:

LinCAN 0.3.3
LinCAN is a Linux kernel module that implements a CAN driver. more>>
LinCAN is a Linux kernel module that implements a CAN driver capable of working with multiple cards, even with different chips and IO methods. Each communication object can be accessed from multiple applications concurrently.
It supports RT-Linux, 2.2, 2.4, and 2.6 with fully implemented select, poll, fasync, O_NONBLOCK, and O_SYNC semantics and multithreaded read/write capabilities. It works with the common Intel i82527, Philips 82c200, and Philips SJA1000 (in standard and PeliCAN mode) CAN controllers.
LinCAN project is part of a set of CAN/CANopen related components developed as part of OCERA framework.
Enhancements:
- Some more fixes were made in SJA1000 bus-off recovery.
- The i82527 IRQ stuck problem was fixed.
- The module was updated and tested up to kernel version 2.6.17 (rc4).
- Minimal chip information was added in /proc/can.
- Support for NSI CAN PCI was contributed.

JavaSame 0.9
JavaSame project is a Same clone written in Java. more>>
JavaSame project is a Same clone written in Java.
JavaSame is another Same clone written in Java.
Its based on the KSame ideas and GnomeSame images, and can be run as an applet or stand alone application.
Remove as many balls as you can. You can do it by clicking on groups of two or more balls.
The bigger group you remove the more points you get, exactly (balls-2)^2.
If you leave some unremoved balls, they are subtrackted from your points in the same manner.
For an empty field you get 1000 bonus points.
(Soon there will be a highscores list, so do Your best!)
Good luck! :)

MOV, MP4 conversion service
MOV, MP4 conversion service can convert files supported by ffmpeg to MOV / MP4 format, supported by my iPod Video G5. more>>
MOV, MP4 conversion service is final and working version of my script, which I use to convert files supported by ffmpeg to MOV / MP4 format, supported by my iPod Video G5.
Everything was tested to be easy to use (finally, after installation). If You have any problems with it, just let me know - Ill try to help as far as I can.
INSTALLATION:
Just download "avi2mov" script, and save it in /usr/sbin/ directory (You can save it in any directory, but take care later, because i assume, youve saved it in /usr/sbin/ :) ).
After this, You need to set proper permissions, so use chmod:
chmod +x /usr/sbin/avi2mov
Finally, You need to add this converter to Service Menu. Create file
/usr/kde/3.5/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/convert-avi-to-mov.desktop
with Kate for example, and copy and paste this code:
[Desktop Action MediaConvertFile]
Exec=/usr/sbin/avi2mov %U
Icon=reload
Name=Convert selected file to mov / mp4 ...
[Desktop Entry]
Actions=MediaConvertFile
Encoding=UTF-8
Icon=reload
ServiceTypes=video/*
ExcludeServiceTypes=kdedevice
