Major Features:
- Federal taxes for all of Canada
- TONI provincial tables
- Several output options
- Holiday Pay
- Advances
- Ability to save file
- Spreadsheet output
- Cross platform command line
- Graphical Interface (Linux)
- New web interface included
- Distributed free under the GPL
Enhancements: Changes were made for the 88th edition of Payroll Deductions Formulas for Computer Programs for Canada (t4127-09e.pdf), which is effective January 01, 2009.

Installation:
The simplest way to compile this package is:
1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.
Running `configure takes a while. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.
2. Type `make to compile the package.
3. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.
4. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean.

Payroll Perl Modules 1.3
Business::Payroll is a series of Perl Modules that provides an API for working with multiple countries federal, state taxes. more>>
Business::Payroll is a series of Perl Modules that provides an API for working with multiple countries federal, state and local taxes.
Payroll Perl Modules project also supports calculating mileage reimbursement values and can handle adjustment entries.
The Business::Payroll module starts with an xml document in the Input format and if everything is successfull, outputs the results in the Output XML format.
Currently only the US is supported and MO is the only supported state. We are not supporting any cities in MO yet. Federal Income, FICA, Medicare and Mileage Rates are all being calculated. We take into account the number of allowances people can claim and the fact that you can withhold more for federal and state.
Federal Income tables are only available for any date >= 07/01/2001.
See the payroll_test.pl script and input.xml file for a sample implementation.
Use process_payroll (in the /usr/bin directory after an rpm install, otherwise in the payroll-x.y directory) to actually process payroll files for real.
process_payroll will take the specified raw xml file and process it. If no errors occured, then you get the result on stdout. If you specify 2 file names the result will go into the second file. You can specify - (for the first file) and it will know to work with stdin. I.e. you can pipe the file to be processed. Ex. cat input.xml | process_payroll - would process input.xml from the stdin and then output the result to stdout.
Enhancements:
- This release has been updated to cover the 2006 tax changes.

GNU Aspell 0.60.4
GNU Aspell is an intelligent spell checker. more>>
GNU Aspell is a Free and Open Source spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell. The project can either be used as a library or as an independent spell checker.
Its main feature is that it does a superior job of suggesting possible replacements for a misspelled word than just about any other spell checker out there for the English language. Unlike Ispell, Aspell can also easily check documents in UTF-8 without having to use a special dictionary.
Aspell will also do its best to respect the current locale setting. Other advantages over Ispell include support for using multiple dictionaries at once and intelligently handling personal dictionaries when more than one Aspell process is open at once.
Main features:
- Is an actual library that other programs can link to instead of having to use it through a pipe.
- Does a much better job of suggesting possible replacements for a misspelled word than Ispell does or for that matter any other spell checker I have seen. If you know a spell checker that does a better job please let me know.
- Can learn from users misspellings.
- Can easily check documents in UTF-8 without having to use a special dictionary.
- Has support for using multiple dictionaries at once.
- Is multiprocess intelligent. When a personal dictionary (or replacement list) is saved it will now first update the list against the dictionary on disk in case another process modified it.
- Can share the memory used in the main word list between processes.
- A better, more complete word list for the English language. Word lists are provided for American, British, and Canadian spelling. Special care has been taken to only include one spelling for each word in any particular word list. The word list included in Ispell by contrast only included support for American and British and also tends to included multiple spellings for a word which can mask some spelling errors.

PerlActor 0.02
PerlActor is a simple automated executable acceptance test framework for Perl. more>>
PerlActor is a simple automated executable acceptance test framework for Perl.
PerlActor is a simple automated executable acceptance test framework for Perl. It can be used by Extreme Programming (XP) teams to rapidly develop executable acceptance tests for their Perl code.
XP mandates that the Customer writes acceptance tests for the application under development. The acceptance tests, also known as customer tests, demonstrate that application features are complete and that they work as expected. Ideally, the tests should be directly executable and automated so that they can be run continuously, without manual effort.
PerlActor enables an XP Customer to write *executable* acceptance tests as plain text files, using a very simple syntax. Each test consists of a number of parameterized commands (one per line), which PerlActor uses to exercise the application. PerlActor parses the test, invokes the commands with any parameters, and reports the result. The developers provide glue code to implement the commands required by the tests.
PerlActor allows tests to be grouped into suites so that related tests can be run as a group. The Customer can also just place test scripts in a directory structure and have PerlActor find and execute them all.
The PerlActor approach to acceptance testing has a number of advantages:
1) As the application grows the team will gradually develop a comprehensive set of Commands for testing the application.
2) The Customer, independent of the development team, can write and execute new tests for the application at any time, using any of the existing Commands.
3) Existing tests may be changed by the Customer at any time, again without developer help.
EXAMPLE SCRIPT
The following sample test script is adapted from one of the example scripts contained in the examples/calculator directory of this distribution. It tests a toy calculator "application":

Beanie 0.1
Beanie is a flexible, distributed accounting system for medium-sized companies. more>>
Beanie is a flexible, distributed accounting system for medium-sized companies.
It includes back-end batch processing as well as a GTK GUI and provides automated purchases, sales, and nominal ledgers as well as automated invoicing (via email).
Beanie project also supports payroll and VAT.
Installation:
STEP ONE:
You must create a user on the system called beanie. This unprivileged user will own all the accounting files and executables. The home directory of this user will be the main location for all accounting files so choose wisely. Examples are /v/beanie or
/var/accounts.
This is an example of the password entry:
beanie:*:101:20:The Accounting System:/v/beanie:/bin/csh
Make sure you set the BEANIEROOT environment variable in the file beanie.mk to the home directory of the beanie user.
STEP TWO:
You must create a MySQL database called beanie. You then need to create a user also called beanie with a 8 to 10 character password which has full access to this database. Check that you can access the new database using the following command:
% mysql -h -u beanie -p beanie
You will be prompted for a password. Enter the password you set on the account and youre now ready to create a config.h file.
STEP THREE:
Copy the file config.h.sample to config.h and edit it. You will find information on how to configure this file in the comment blocks of the file. Note that the MAIN_DBHOST and DBPWD_CHARxx values need to match what you entered above.
STEP FOUR:
Edit the file beanie.mk and make sure that the defaults are OK.
Once you have completed these steps, compile the source by running the following commands:
% make clean all
% make install
You may need to run the second make as root in order to have permissions to create directories and some binary files (such as xeparse which needs to be installed in /usr/libexec).
STEP FIVE:
You need to create a cron(8) entry for the beanie user. There is a sample cron entry in the file crontab.sample. Edit this file and change $BEANIEROOT to be the home directory of the beanie user. Then, either logged in as beanie or as root, run the following command:
% crontab -u beanie < crontab.sample
This makes sure the overnight processing is performed every evening at 11PM. Each day, the databases will be backed up and the daily operations (such as invoicing, etc) will be performed. Each Sunday, the end of week tasks will be performed and on the last day of the month, the monthly, quarterly and annual tasks will be performed.
You can examine these scripts to see what they do:
overnight/acct.prolog
overnight/acct.daily
overnight/acct.weekly
overnight/acct.monthly
overnight/acct.epilog
Edit the tmac source files for your specific information. The key one here is lhead.tmac because this is the source for your company letterhead. Its written in troff.
Youre Done!! Now you just need to run the newcompany program.
Enhancements:
- In this initial release, the billing functionality is very complete and the general ledger functionality is pretty much all there.
- A VAT system was added with a payroll check-in due very shortly.

Sportal 1.4
Sportal is a program made for the people that needs to know what is going on, in their systems. more>>
Sportal is a program made for the people that needs to know what is going on, in their systems, what it does is keep an eye on the files that you select , for "hot Words" that u also select, all this is made trough a graphical interface, u never have to touch a config file, but if u want u can.
When a "hot Word" is found on the file being watched, the Main Window goes to the front of your desktop, leaving all the other windows on the back, so u dont have to keep looking at it, it will let u know when a word is found. There is no restriction on the numbers of files or hot words, u can have as many as u want.It only needs "read access" to the files. It is not recomended runing th as root, only because it doesnt need it.
Main features:
- Infinite numbers of files
- Infinite numbers of words
- Execute a command when word is found, %l to include the line
- Transparent Window and tint
- Show all lines option.
- Search through Regular Expresions
- Whenever i get enough mails asking for regular expresions I will implement them.
- Configuration done trough Graphical Interface
- Inteligent behavior (save location and size of all windows)
- You can save the content of the main window
Enhancements:
- Added option to Show All the lines that get added to the file
- Fixed some bugs
- Send Bug reports

MOV, MP4 conversion service
MOV, MP4 conversion service can convert files supported by ffmpeg to MOV / MP4 format, supported by my iPod Video G5. more>>
MOV, MP4 conversion service is final and working version of my script, which I use to convert files supported by ffmpeg to MOV / MP4 format, supported by my iPod Video G5.
Everything was tested to be easy to use (finally, after installation). If You have any problems with it, just let me know - Ill try to help as far as I can.
INSTALLATION:
Just download "avi2mov" script, and save it in /usr/sbin/ directory (You can save it in any directory, but take care later, because i assume, youve saved it in /usr/sbin/ :) ).
After this, You need to set proper permissions, so use chmod:
chmod +x /usr/sbin/avi2mov
Finally, You need to add this converter to Service Menu. Create file
/usr/kde/3.5/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/convert-avi-to-mov.desktop
with Kate for example, and copy and paste this code:
[Desktop Action MediaConvertFile]
Exec=/usr/sbin/avi2mov %U
Icon=reload
Name=Convert selected file to mov / mp4 ...
[Desktop Entry]
Actions=MediaConvertFile
Encoding=UTF-8
Icon=reload
ServiceTypes=video/*
ExcludeServiceTypes=kdedevice

JavaSame 0.9
JavaSame project is a Same clone written in Java. more>>
JavaSame project is a Same clone written in Java.
JavaSame is another Same clone written in Java.
Its based on the KSame ideas and GnomeSame images, and can be run as an applet or stand alone application.
Remove as many balls as you can. You can do it by clicking on groups of two or more balls.
The bigger group you remove the more points you get, exactly (balls-2)^2.
If you leave some unremoved balls, they are subtrackted from your points in the same manner.
For an empty field you get 1000 bonus points.
(Soon there will be a highscores list, so do Your best!)
Good luck! :)
