KWA Canadian Fire Fighters 0.2

KWA Canadian Fire Fighters 0.2

KWA Canadian Fire Fighters is a simple real time strategy game. more>>
KWA Canadian Fire Fighters is a simple real time strategy game. The task is to fight fires in a forest.

Installation:

The simplest way to compile this package is:

1. `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and type `./configure to configure the package for your system. If youre using `csh on an old version of System V, you might need to type `sh ./configure instead to prevent `csh from trying to execute `configure itself.

Running `configure takes a while. While running, it prints some messages telling which features it is checking for.

2. Type `make to compile the package.

3. Type `make install to install the programs and any data files and documentation.

4. You can remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory by typing `make clean.

GNU Aspell 0.60.4

GNU Aspell 0.60.4

GNU Aspell is an intelligent spell checker. more>>
GNU Aspell is a Free and Open Source spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell. The project can either be used as a library or as an independent spell checker.
Its main feature is that it does a superior job of suggesting possible replacements for a misspelled word than just about any other spell checker out there for the English language. Unlike Ispell, Aspell can also easily check documents in UTF-8 without having to use a special dictionary.
Aspell will also do its best to respect the current locale setting. Other advantages over Ispell include support for using multiple dictionaries at once and intelligently handling personal dictionaries when more than one Aspell process is open at once.
Main features:
- Is an actual library that other programs can link to instead of having to use it through a pipe.
- Does a much better job of suggesting possible replacements for a misspelled word than Ispell does or for that matter any other spell checker I have seen. If you know a spell checker that does a better job please let me know.
- Can learn from users misspellings.
- Can easily check documents in UTF-8 without having to use a special dictionary.
- Has support for using multiple dictionaries at once.
- Is multiprocess intelligent. When a personal dictionary (or replacement list) is saved it will now first update the list against the dictionary on disk in case another process modified it.
- Can share the memory used in the main word list between processes.
- A better, more complete word list for the English language. Word lists are provided for American, British, and Canadian spelling. Special care has been taken to only include one spelling for each word in any particular word list. The word list included in Ispell by contrast only included support for American and British and also tends to included multiple spellings for a word which can mask some spelling errors.

Payroll Perl Modules 1.3

Payroll Perl Modules 1.3

Business::Payroll is a series of Perl Modules that provides an API for working with multiple countries federal, state taxes. more>>
Business::Payroll is a series of Perl Modules that provides an API for working with multiple countries federal, state and local taxes.
Payroll Perl Modules project also supports calculating mileage reimbursement values and can handle adjustment entries.
The Business::Payroll module starts with an xml document in the Input format and if everything is successfull, outputs the results in the Output XML format.
Currently only the US is supported and MO is the only supported state. We are not supporting any cities in MO yet. Federal Income, FICA, Medicare and Mileage Rates are all being calculated. We take into account the number of allowances people can claim and the fact that you can withhold more for federal and state.
Federal Income tables are only available for any date >= 07/01/2001.
See the payroll_test.pl script and input.xml file for a sample implementation.
Use process_payroll (in the /usr/bin directory after an rpm install, otherwise in the payroll-x.y directory) to actually process payroll files for real.
process_payroll will take the specified raw xml file and process it. If no errors occured, then you get the result on stdout. If you specify 2 file names the result will go into the second file. You can specify - (for the first file) and it will know to work with stdin. I.e. you can pipe the file to be processed. Ex. cat input.xml | process_payroll - would process input.xml from the stdin and then output the result to stdout.
Enhancements:
- This release has been updated to cover the 2006 tax changes.

FreeADSP 0.0.2

FreeADSP 0.0.2

FreeADSP is a free audio-oriented real-time DSP software. more>>
FreeADSP stands for Free Audio Digital Signals Processor and is a free audio-oriented real-time DSP software. What it does is taking a signal as input, transform it through arbitrary-disposed modules, and then putting the result back to some output (that is, for example, the same thing that regular guitar stomp boxes do).

What are these modules?

Unlike similar applications which are designed to use only one or two kinds of audio computational plugins, FreeADSP is capable of putting to work everything that could be used to do a computation (for example a circuital representation, a mathematical formula or a neural net). This is possible because FreeADSP uses external module loader plugins which know how to make things work properly.

So, what can this program do?

The main purpose of this software is processing sounds at real-time. While there are already a lot of packages around that can do it, often with some sensible limitation, FreeADSP aims at being THE program of real-time sound processing. To achive this goal its design is extremely modular, and this is what makes it capable of doing unbelivable things, at least theorically.

As said before, the possibility of using external plugins to load other stuff to process data means the possibility of using potentially everything that can do a computation, from well-known LADSPA, DSSI or VST/VSTi plugins to neural nets, also simultaneously, and in an extremely clean fashion.

The whole I/O and user interface parts are handled by external plugins too. This means again a lot more flexibility and also easier portability and integration on different OSes and/or hardware architectures (also thanks to FreeADSPs high configurability)! Furthermore an user could easily switch user interface without having to put the program and his work into the trash can.

The I/O is handled in such a generic way that one can use every kind of input or signal to interact either with modules (for example, one could use a breath control to manipulate the output volume of a fretless bass, obtaining a wind instrument-like feel) or with FreeADSP itself (start/stop processing, etc.)

Last but no least, FreeADSP also lets you manage collections of presets, eventually organised into banks and record what you play at each stage of processing.

Damn Vulnerable Linux 1.0

Damn Vulnerable Linux 1.0

Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is a Linux-based (modified Damn Small Linux) tool for IT-Security & IT-Anti-Security. more>>
Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is a Linux-based (modified Damn Small Linux) tool for IT-Security & IT-Anti-Security and Attack & Defense. Damn Vulnerable Linux was initiated for training tasks during university lessons by the IITAC (International Institute for Training, Assessment, and Certification).
Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is highly integrated into the community project crackmes.de (http://www.crackmes.de) and is frequently updated with new community provided lessons. Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is your place either to get the latest Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) distribution, to get new lessons, or to submit own lessons based on the Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) training system.
Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is provided without any fee or charge! Actually, it is a perverted Linux distribution made to be as insecure as possible. It is collection of IT-Security and IT-Anti-Security tools. Additional it includes a fullscaled lesson based environment for Attack & Defense on/for IT systems for self-study or teaching activities during university lectures. Its a Live Linux Distro, which means it runs from a bootable CD in memory without changing the native operating system of the host computer.
As well it can be run within virtual machine environments, such as qemu or vmware. There is no need to install a virtual machine if you use the embedded option. Its sole purpose in life is to put as many security tools at your disposal with as much training options as it can. It contains a huge ammount of lessons including lesson description - and solutions if the level has been solved by a community member at crackmes.de.
Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) is meant to be used by both novice and professional security personnel but is not ideal for the Linux uninitiated. Damn Vulnerable Linux (DVL) assumes you know the basics of Linux as most of your work will be done from the command line. If you are completely new to Linux, its best you stop playing with this system.

Jifty::Manual::Tutorial 0.60912

Jifty::Manual::Tutorial 0.60912

Jifty::Manual::Tutorial is a Perl module for Zero to Jifty in a Jiffy. more>>
Jifty::Manual::Tutorial is a Perl module for Zero to Jifty in a Jiffy.

This tutorial should give you everything you need to build your first application with Jifty.

HOW TO

The requirements
Heres what you need to have installed -- at least when we write it.

Installing Jifty
No bones about it. We believe pretty strongly in the DRY (Dont Repeat Yourself) principle. Thats one of the big reasons we love Perl and CPAN. Jifty makes use of lots of amazing code from CPAN. At last count, it directly depended on 60 packages from CPAN. Most of these libraries are cross-platform pure-Perl packages and should run great out of the box on any platform you can get Perl onto.

Weve gone to lengths to make sure you dont spend your day downloading library after library by bundling everything we can inside the Jifty package. With luck, all youll need to install is a few tricky libraries that actually need to be compiled for your operating system. (Little things like Perls database interface and the embedded SQLite that Jifty defaults to.)

You can either grab a complete Jifty package from http://download.jifty.org/pub/jifty/ or install from CPAN. If you get the slim version from CPAN, youll have to install Jiftys dependencies yourself. (Though we help out with that where we can.) If you want to get up and running quickly, grab the latest version from:

http://download.jifty.org/pub/jifty/

Either way, the installation process is the same:

# tar xzvf jifty- .tgz
# cd jifty-
# perl Makefile.PL
# make
# make test
# make install

If the tests dont pass, we want to hear about it. Please join us on jifty-devel@lists.jifty.org and report the failure. (See "GETTING HELP" below for info on how to join the list.)

ModPerl::ParamBuilder 0.08

ModPerl::ParamBuilder 0.08

ModPerl::ParamBuilder is a Perl module that makes building custom Apache directives easy. more>>
ModPerl::ParamBuilder is a Perl module that makes building custom Apache directives easy.

SYNOPSIS

package MyApp::Parameters;

use ModPerl::ParamBuilder;

use base qw( ModPerl::ParamBuilder );

my $builder = ModPerl::ParamBuilder->new( __PACKAGE__ );

# Build simple one argument parameter
$builder->param( Template );
$builder->param( PageTitle );
$builder->param( ItemsPerPage );

# Build an On/Off parameter
$builder->on_off( Caching );

# Build a Yes/No parameter
$builder->yes_no( AutoCommit );

# Build a no argument/flag parameter
$builder->no_arg( Active );

# Build a one argument parameter with a custom error message
# and special configuration hash key
$builder->param( {
name => SMTPServer,
err => SMTPServer xx.xx.xx.xx,
key => smtp_server,
});

# Load the configuration into Apache
$builder->load;

################################################
# And elsewhere in your application
################################################
package MyApp::Main;

# Retrieve the configuration like so
my $params = MyApp::Parameters->new;
my $conf_ref = $params->get_config( $r );

# Or if you have PerlOptions +GlobalRequest on then you can just
# call
my $conf_ref = $params->get_config;

One of the neatest features of mod_perl 2.0 is the ability to easily create your own custom Apache directives. Not only are they more efficient to use compared to PerlSetEnv, PerlPassEnv, PerlAddVar, and PerlSetVar, but they give your application a more polished and professional look and feel..

Not to mention theyre just plain cool. This module aims to make the already easy, even easier.
Note that you MUST load your parameter module with PerlLoadModule in your httpd.conf and not PerlModule. This is necessary because Apache needs to load your module earlier than usual in the startup to be able to read its own configuration now.

LIMITATIONS

The biggest limitation is that this module ONLY works with mod_perl 2.0 and above. There are no plans to support mod_perl 1.x for this module, trust me you want to upgrade to mod_perl 2 as soon as you can.

This modules intent is not to replace the underlying mod_perl APIs nor is it intended to be used for complicated cases where special processing is needed. It is intended to make the simple things simple.

Some things to keep in mind when using ModPerl::ParamBuilder

This module does not restrict where the directives can be used in Apaches httpd.conf. To restrict directives to particular area ( only in main server conf, a VirtualHost, or a Location, etc ) you will need to use the mod_perl APIs to build your directives.

This also does not do, by default, any error checking or validation on the arguments passed to directives. If you create a directive NumberOfItemsPerPage and then put:

NumberOfItemsPerPage rhubarb

Apache will not see this as an error and your configuration hash for the key NumberOfItemsPerPage will contain the string rhubarb. You can validate this data in three different ways:

1) Validate the configuration data in your application prior to
using it.

2) Instruct ModPerl::ParamBuilder to use a special function for
processing the arguments by passing the func option.

3) Revert to using the mod_perl API where you have more control.

See the appropriate mod_perl 2.0 API modules for how to accomplish more in depth processing of directives and their data.

Beanie 0.1

Beanie 0.1

Beanie is a flexible, distributed accounting system for medium-sized companies. more>>
Beanie is a flexible, distributed accounting system for medium-sized companies.
It includes back-end batch processing as well as a GTK GUI and provides automated purchases, sales, and nominal ledgers as well as automated invoicing (via email).
Beanie project also supports payroll and VAT.
Installation:
STEP ONE:
You must create a user on the system called beanie. This unprivileged user will own all the accounting files and executables. The home directory of this user will be the main location for all accounting files so choose wisely. Examples are /v/beanie or
/var/accounts.
This is an example of the password entry:
beanie:*:101:20:The Accounting System:/v/beanie:/bin/csh
Make sure you set the BEANIEROOT environment variable in the file beanie.mk to the home directory of the beanie user.
STEP TWO:
You must create a MySQL database called beanie. You then need to create a user also called beanie with a 8 to 10 character password which has full access to this database. Check that you can access the new database using the following command:
% mysql -h -u beanie -p beanie
You will be prompted for a password. Enter the password you set on the account and youre now ready to create a config.h file.
STEP THREE:
Copy the file config.h.sample to config.h and edit it. You will find information on how to configure this file in the comment blocks of the file. Note that the MAIN_DBHOST and DBPWD_CHARxx values need to match what you entered above.
STEP FOUR:
Edit the file beanie.mk and make sure that the defaults are OK.
Once you have completed these steps, compile the source by running the following commands:
% make clean all
% make install
You may need to run the second make as root in order to have permissions to create directories and some binary files (such as xeparse which needs to be installed in /usr/libexec).
STEP FIVE:
You need to create a cron(8) entry for the beanie user. There is a sample cron entry in the file crontab.sample. Edit this file and change $BEANIEROOT to be the home directory of the beanie user. Then, either logged in as beanie or as root, run the following command:
% crontab -u beanie < crontab.sample
This makes sure the overnight processing is performed every evening at 11PM. Each day, the databases will be backed up and the daily operations (such as invoicing, etc) will be performed. Each Sunday, the end of week tasks will be performed and on the last day of the month, the monthly, quarterly and annual tasks will be performed.
You can examine these scripts to see what they do:
overnight/acct.prolog
overnight/acct.daily
overnight/acct.weekly
overnight/acct.monthly
overnight/acct.epilog
Edit the tmac source files for your specific information. The key one here is lhead.tmac because this is the source for your company letterhead. Its written in troff.
Youre Done!! Now you just need to run the newcompany program.
Enhancements:
- In this initial release, the billing functionality is very complete and the general ledger functionality is pretty much all there.
- A VAT system was added with a payroll check-in due very shortly.
