HandBrake for Linux 0.9.1
open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded DVD to MPEG-4 converter more>> Were chagrined to announce the public release of HandBrake 0.9.1. Why chagrined? Because 0.9.0 wasnt as stable as it should have been, something 0.9.1 rectifies.
This minor update squashes a number of glaring bugs. Most notably, HandBrake will no longer hang at the end of encoding MKV files with chapter markers. This means the Animation, Bedlam, Constant Quality Rate, Deux Six Quatre, Film, and Television presets are now usable.
Additional improvements:
Impressive performance enhancements
Significant interface prettification (Mac more than Win)
Color subtitles now show up in color
Changing dimensions in Picture Settings no longer causes a crash (Mac)
Forced subtitle support
More robust exception handling (Win)
Closing the main window no longer causes HandBrake to crash (Mac)
Using Slow deinterlacing no longer doubles the chapter count.
MPEG Stream support is now case-insensitive (.VOB as well as .vob, etc) and more compatible
No more error messages sent to standard out instead of standard error
Bigger buffer for the activity log (Mac)
Proper display of fading subtitles
On-completion options to shutdown, suspend, etc (Win)
Same as source FPS now works correctly when the end-credits of a progressive film are interlaced.
Add-to-queue fixed (Win)
Target size fixed for the umpteenth time (Mac)<<less

AndyChat 3.00
AndyChat is a program for chatting to people over various network protocols. more>>
AndyChat is a program for chatting to people over various network protocols. It was originally designed as a chat program which can work only on IPX networks. Now its fast becoming a command line Curses based IRC client which will eventually have all the features of AndyChat v2.xx minus the IPX code, and will have additional features including support for all the Instant Messenger systems I can get my hands on, starting with ICQ, and also several Java/Web chat backends (for users to participate in Yahoo! Web Chats, etc from the console!).
Also, since AndyChat v3.xx is written in Perl, it should be theoretically possible to keep it cross-platform, although good luck in getting it to work on Win.

Neos 2.4
Neos is a port of the original theme for Gnome. more>>
Neos is a port of the original theme for Gnome.
BVCs "Alien" theme was used for modifications. Window decorations code was compiled in Alien. And toolbar icons from Alien theme of BVC. Thanx to good working of BVC ;).
You may wonder why is not exactly the same as the orginal one even though, this is neos theme port. The answer is simple: When you look at Gnome/Gtk as whole screen, some of the graphics looks disjointed. According to my personal taste i customized some of graphics.
Enhancements:
- Neos Improved Series Has been added.
- Improved Blue Gtk style 24x and 48x (sized panel presets), Neos 1 Style Win decoration , Neos 2 Win decoration has been added.
- Improved Lime Gtk style 24x and 48x (sized panel presets), Neos 1 Style Win decoration , Neos 2 Win decoration has been added.
- Improved White Gtk styles 24x and 48x (sized panel presets), Neos 1 Style Win decoration , Neos 2 Win decoration
- Please use 24x or 48x size panel. And choose to 24x or 48x Gtk Style preset depend on your using size panel. Dont use to any Panel Background texture. Gtk styles includes to default looking textures. On the next versions will be add other sizes (32,64,76...) presets.
- Improved style is indepent version of orginal Neos.
- Improved styles includes Gradient Graphics: Gradient Notebook border, Small sized 4 color menubackground, imrpoved tab styles etc... (in my opinion it looks very good).
- Improved to Orginal Neos ports graphics. But it hasnt gradient Notebook borders.
- Neos 1 and Neos 2 Window Decoration problems has been resolved and improved its graphics.From now not need to Gnome Configurator Os X like window decoration settings. Because windows buttons and titles positions changed to right side. So, dont use to Os X like windows placement with Gnome Configurator!
- Some of gtk-stock and toolbars icons has been added. Blue, Lime and White style...
- It may seems no different between improved theme and original theme.
- One of the reasons of this Original Neos theme is also taken, almost every property of the improved theme.it has not only gradient notebook borders. Actually improved versions are consisting of my personal edition. And these are the sets that will be effected by the changes in the future. Original neos wouldnt be effected by these developments. Actually there is detailed worked in Gtk Graphics and window decoration graphics. For understand about difference you can download it.

Gnono 1.9.1
Gnono is a rewrite of the Windows card game WUNO for GNOME. more>>
Gnono is a rewrite of the Windows card game WUNO for GNOME. Gnonos objective is to discard all of ones cards before the opponent does.
Cards are discarded by matching the value or color of the top discard or by playing a wild card.
HOW TO PLAY
Each player picks a card. The person with the highest value card plays first. (not yet implemented)
Each player is dealt either 7 or 11 cards, depending on the chosen preferences. (not yet implemented) The remainder of the cards are placed face down on the pick-up pile, and the top card of the pick-up pile is turn over onto the discard pile.
Play starts in a clockwise direction. The player, whos turn it is, has to play a card which matches the card on the discard pile. This played card then becomes the new topmost card on the discard pile. The card played must match the card on the discard pile by either function (i.e. number) or colour (pattern). Alternatively, the player can play a wild card.
If the player does not have a card which they can play, they must take a card from the pick-up pile. If they can play the card they have picked up, they may, otherwise they keep it and play moves to the next player.
The same applies if the player does have a card they can play, but chooses not to.
PLAYING OUT
Once a player has played all their cards, the current round is over, and the winning player gets the sum of the points in the oppenents hands added to their current score. If the player has reached the playout score, they win the game, otherwise play starts again with the next round.
During play, if all the cards have been taken from the pick-up pile, the deck is shuffled and play continues.
Enhancements:
- Migrate all deprecated GTK+ APIs.
- Implement GnomeGoals/PoLinguas.
- Reverse card acts as Skip in two-player game.
- Make one "Points to Win" field showing the playout score instead of individual fields showing points remaining to win.
- Added man page.

Curses 1.15
Curses is a terminal screen handling and optimization. more>>
Curses is a terminal screen handling and optimization.
SYNOPSIS
use Curses;
initscr;
...
endwin;
Curses::supports_function($function);
Curses::supports_contsant($constant);
Curses is the interface between Perl and your systems curses(3) library. For descriptions on the usage of a given function, variable, or constant, consult your systems documentation, as such information invariably varies (:-) between different curses(3) libraries and operating systems. This document describes the interface itself, and assumes that you already know how your systems curses(3) library works.
Unified Functions
Many curses(3) functions have variants starting with the prefixes w-, mv-, and/or wmv-. These variants differ only in the explicit addition of a window, or by the addition of two coordinates that are used to move the cursor first. For example, addch() has three other variants: waddch(), mvaddch(), and mvwaddch(). The variants arent very interesting; in fact, we could roll all of the variants into original function by allowing a variable number of arguments and analyzing the argument list for which variant the user wanted to call.
Unfortunately, curses(3) predates varargs(3), so in C we were stuck with all the variants. However, Curses is a Perl interface, so we are free to "unify" these variants into one function. The section "Supported Functions" below lists all curses(3) function supported by Curses, along with a column listing if it is unified. If so, it takes a varying number of arguments as follows:
function( [win], [y, x], args );
win is an optional window argument, defaulting to stdscr if not specified.
y, x is an optional coordinate pair used to move the cursor, defaulting to no move if not specified.
args are the required arguments of the function. These are the arguments you would specify if you were just calling the base function and not any of the variants.
This makes the variants obsolete, since their functionality has been merged into a single function, so Curses does not define them by default. You can still get them if you want, by setting the variable $Curses::OldCurses to a non-zero value before using the Curses package. See "Perl 4.X cursperl Compatibility" for an example of this.
Objects
Objects are supported. Example:
$win = new Curses;
$win->addstr(10, 10, foo);
$win->refresh;
...
Any function that has been marked as unified (see "Supported Functions" below and "Unified Functions" above) can be called as a method for a Curses object.
Do not use initscr() if using objects, as the first call to get a new Curses will do it for you.
Security Concerns
It has always been the case with the curses functions, but please note that the following functions:
getstr() (and optional wgetstr(), mvgetstr(), and mvwgetstr())
inchstr() (and optional winchstr(), mvinchstr(), and mvwinchstr())
instr() (and optional winstr(), mvinstr(), and mvwinstr())
are subject to buffer overflow attack. This is because you pass in the buffer to be filled in, which has to be of finite length, but there is no way to stop a bad guy from typing.
In order to avoid this problem, use the alternate functions:
getnstr()
inchnstr()
innstr()
which take an extra "size of buffer" argument.

Main features:
- implement GPL sounds (if there is a such thing)
- create a make install target
- credits menu option
- sound/no sound switch
- music/no music switch
- human player name
- network version to play against other humans
- clean up the code (although there are lots of comments, the structure is very bad and needs to be cleaned up)

Obfuscated Tiny C Compiler
Obfuscated Tiny C Compiler (OTCC) is a very small C compiler. more>>
Obfuscated Tiny C Compiler (OTCC) is a very small C compiler I wrote in order to win the International Obfuscated C Code Contest (IOCCC) in 2002.
My goal was to write the smallest C compiler which is able to compile itself. I choose a subset of C which was general enough to write a small C compiler. Then I extended the C subset until I reached the maximum size authorized by the contest: 2048 bytes of C source excluding the ;, {, } and space characters.
I choose to generate i386 code. The original OTCC code could only run on i386 Linux because it relied on endianness and unaligned access. It generated the program in memory and launched it directly. External symbols were resolved with dlsym().
In order to have a portable version of OTCC, I made a variant called OTCCELF. It is only a little larger than OTCC, but it generates directly a dynamically linked i386 ELF executable from a C source without relying on any binutils tools! OTCCELF was tested succesfully on i386 Linux and on Sparc Solaris.
NOTE: My other project TinyCC which is a fully featured ISOC99 C compiler was written by starting from the source code of OTCC !
Compilation:
gcc -O2 otcc.c -o otcc -ldl
gcc -O2 otccelf.c -o otccelf
Self-compilation:
./otccelf otccelf.c otccelf1

Avadan 0.19a
Avadan is a rogue-like role-playing game situated in space. more>>
Avadan project is a rogue-like role-playing game situated in space.
The player travels from planet to planet in order to find the mystical oracles. The player is placed in nethack-style dungeons. The whole game is rogue-like, but with the extension of space travels.
The dungeons are shown with tile graphics, and space looks a bit better. On space stations, the player can talk to NPCs, get quests, and trade artifacts found in the dungeons.
To execute the game, you have to open and run the project with Gambas (>= 0.19.20). The finished version will include a binary with all source and data in one big file, so then youll still need gambas for execution, but the game can be started itself; you dont need to use the Gambas IDE.
To see how it works, you should stay in galaxy sector 2-3, fly to the stations entry (with cursor keys), press "d" to dock and then "l" to land on the planet. There you can discover a nethack-style dungeon, slash monsters, collect treasures and so on. The goal is to reach the oracle in dungeon level 10. Press "t" to talk to traders and the oracle. Press "F1" in every stage of the game to get help (esp. about the meaning of keys).
Enhancements:
- added magic weapons
- scrolls can be read (used)
- rearranged some parts of the code
- chests can be traps
- added oracles (essential for win the game, on dungen level 10)
- made enemies stronger
- added enemies for dungeon levels 5-10

. Its syntax is almost identical to that of the Interactive Data Language (IDL).
Main features:
- all language elements are supported
- multithreaded operators
- array operations use MMX/SSE/SSE2, if available
- module profiling
- line profiling
- about 300 library functions (more or less usable)
- true-color (24 bit) direct graphics devices: X, WIN, PS, PDF, Z
- run-time performance: for many programs, FL is faster than IDL (eg. the empty loop is three times faster in FL :-)
Installation:
- create a directory (INSTDIR), where you want to install FL
- unpack the archive into this directory
- create an FL_DIR environment variable, which points to INSTDIR/fl/fl_0.61
- run FL_DIR/bin/fl
Enhancements:
- This release introduces Distributed FL, and can be started as a TCP/IP daemon (Linux only), waiting for requests from other hosts (masters) and working for them as a slave.

cz2cz tools is software for converting texts between various charset encodings that are used in the Czech language.
The most important feature is autodetection of the most-used encodings (UTF-8, ISO-8859-2, Win-1250, cp850, and Kamenickych). There are both console non-interactive (text-based) and interactive (curses) applications.
cz2cz also allows you to convert characters with diacritics to TeX (LaTeX) conventions. The interactive part of cz2cz tools can be used for quick manual complementing of diacritics to texts.
Enhancements:
- Automatic detection for the UTF-8 encoding was added.
