LLnextgen 0.5.0

LLnextgen 0.5.0

LLnextgen is an Extended LL(1) parser generator. more>>
LLnextgen is an Extended-LL(1) parser generator. LLnextgen project is a rewrite of the LLgen parser generator by D. Grune and C.J.H. Jacobs which is part of the Amsterdam Compiler Kit (ACK).
Like all parser generators, LLnextgen takes the description of the grammar with associated actions as input, and generates a parser routine for use in compilers and other text processing programs.
LLgen, and therefore LLnextgen, extends on the LL(1) class of parser generators by allowing FIRST/FIRST conflicts and FIRST/FOLLOW conflicts to be resolved with both static and dynamic conditions.
Enhancements:
- This release adds a new operator for specifying an optional-final repetition.
- This is useful for implementing grammar rules like C99/C++ enums where a comma after the last constant is allowed, but not required.
- An option was added to change the extensions of the generated files.

SmokePing 2.1.0

SmokePing 2.1.0

SmokePing is a network latency monitor similar to MRTG. more>>
SmokePing is a delux latency measurement tool. SmokePing project can measure, store and display latency, latency distribution and packet loss. SmokePing uses RRDtool to maintain a longterm datastore and to draw pretty graphs, giving up to the minute information on the state of each network connection.
SmokePing uses latency measurement plugins for seamless extendability.
SmokePing comes with a smart alarm system. Apart from simple threshold alarms, you have the option of defining latency or loss patterns and use them to trigger alarms.
This allows you to define a pattern which would generate a single alarm when the loss goes from below 1% to over 20% and stays over 20% for more than 10 minutes. The advantage of this approach is the virtual elimination of duplicate alarms which you would get with a simple threshold based system.
Alarms can be sent to a mail address or a pager and if you want you can also start an external script to handle the alarms.
Complex Alarms can be written as plug-ins.
SmokePing can also deal with machines who frequently change their IP address by allowing the remote host to call SmokePings attention to its new IP address. In such a setup SmokePing monitors also for how long the remote system could keep its IP address.
To ensure that it is not suddenly monitoring the wrong host, SmokePing further tries to fingerprint each of its Dynamic IP targets via SNMP.
SmokePing is written in Perl. It consists of a daemon process responsible for data collection and a CGI script presenting the data on the web.
The CGI script uses SpeedyCGI to achieve mod_perl like performance without the need to deploy mod_perl on your web server. SmokePing sports a plug-in architecture to easily add new latency measurement capabilities to SmokePing. SmokePing works happily on all Unix platforms.
Enhancements:
- The scoreboard has a list of hottest targets.
- Echoping V6 compatibility.
- Mail templates.
- A failover server for alert email messages.
- Many new plugins.
- Several bugfixes.

OpenDarwin 7.2.1

OpenDarwin 7.2.1

OpenDarwin is the core of Mac OS X. more>>
Darwin is the core of Mac OS X. The Darwin kernel is based on FreeBSD and Mach 3.0 technologies and provides protected memory and pre-emptive multitasking. Darwin runs on PowerPC-based Macintosh computers and a version is also available for x86-compatible computers.
Apples open source projects allow developers to customize and enhance key Apple software. Through the open source model, Apple engineers and the open source community collaborate to create better, faster and more reliable products for our users.
Beneath the appealing, easy-to-use interface of Mac OS X is a rock-solid foundation that is engineered for stability, reliability, and performance. This foundation is a core operating system commonly known as Darwin.
Darwin integrates a number of technologies, most importantly Mach 3.0, operating-system services based on 4.4BSD (Berkeley Software Distribution), high-performance networking facilities, and support for multiple integrated file systems.
Since it was first released in March 1999, Darwin has been the open-source OS technology underlying Apples Mac OS X operating system, with all development being managed and hosted by Apple at http://developer.apple.com/darwin/.
Since Apples Mac OS X releases are based directly on the live Darwin CVS repository, it has been necessary to have a fairly comprehensive procedural framework in place for registering and managing Darwin developers to ensure a good level of quality control. While this system has served its intended purpose quite well, it is desirable to further increase the collaboration between Apple and the open source community beyond the current model.
OpenDarwin.org, jointly founded in April 2002 by Internet Systems Consortium, Inc. (ISC) and Apple, is an attempt to take cooperative Darwin development to the next level. Membership in the OpenDarwin project and access to its works are open to everyone.
The project is also fully independent, with control over its own web site, project news, bug tracking information and CVS repository, as well as any other services that the community owners may wish to provide. Neither Apple nor ISC take any responsibility for, or exercise any editorial control over, the OpenDarwin project.
Many OpenDarwin members are either Apple employees or Darwin Committers, who have an active interest in merging technologies from OpenDarwin.org into Darwin and Mac OS X releases. With OpenDarwin, project members have greater latitude in producing incremental updates or interim releases of Darwin.
The mission of the OpenDarwin project is to innovate and explore new technologies while still remaining relevant, through its informal connection to www.opensource.apple.com, to the mainstream computing environments that Apple provides. It complements Apples infrastructure by allowing increased participation by the community.
Enhancements:
- Install script has been enhanced to allow user creating, setting root password
- AuthenticAMD cpus are now properly detected
- cvs from upstream feature releases
- locate from NetBSD
- at/atrun synced with FreeBSD-5
- various unix software has been updated.
- ODTulipDriver, a driver for tulip-based ethernet controllers, has been added.
- ncutil, a network configuration tool for Darwin, has been updated to version 2.1

XAO::Web 1.07

XAO::Web 1.07

XAO::Web is a Perl module for XAO Web Developer, dynamic content building suite. more>>
XAO::Web is a Perl module for XAO Web Developer, dynamic content building suite.
XAO::Web is a part of XAO open source web services suite. It allows to build dynamic web content using data, templates and external input.
The distinguishing feature of XAO::Web is in its modular design where almost every aspect of functionality can be altered and alterations can be re-used. No complex code is embedded in the templates which allows to upgrade code and templates separately or maintain multiple visual representations of the same functionality at the same time.
Aside from that most interesting features of XAO::Web are:
- Perl code is not mixed with templates. Templates can be normal HTML files if no processing is required.
- A specific site can replace or modify standard XAO::Web objects if required by overriding or extending their methods. You do not need to re-implement entire object to make a site specific change.
- In case of system object upgrade or bug fix there is no need to alter site-specific changes normally.
- Site can create any extension objects or embed third-party extensions as well.
- One server can serve arbitrary number of XAO::Web sites each with however extended functionality without creating any conflicts. That includes different modifications to the system objects for different sites.
- Not limited to Web environment, allows to build any dynamic content -- content of mail messages or reports for instance.
- Works with CGI or mod_perl (mod_perl is recommended for production grade sites).
If used in mod_perl mode improves performance by using caching of configuration, parsed templates, database handlers and so on.
- XAO::Web is by default integrated with XAO::FS (see XAO::FS) as a database layer, but this is not a requrement -- if for any reason a different database must be used for a site it can be easily and gracefully achieved.
- Hosting providers can allow their customers to build very complex sites without allowing them to execute arbitrary code, by allowing to modify only templates.

Xai 0.3.3 Alpha

Xai 0.3.3 Alpha

Xai is an extensible framework for developing and prototyping real time video analysis algorithms. more>>
Xai is an extensible framework for prototyping and developing real time video analysis algorithms by allowing execution and composition of such algorithms in the form of data flows between algorithm blocks.
The blocks can be written in C++ by extending special interfaces, and they can be compiled to dynamically linked libraries. The algorithms can be composed using a GUI or written directly in XML.
The approach
The approach taken here was to develop a universal framework for prototyping video analysis algorithms by building them from previously prepared blocks. Each block is in fact a dynamically linked library, with well defined interface, that can be attached to a workflow of blocks and executed by the framework.
The core of the Xai is called XaiEngine and contains all functionality needed to load, run and save algorithms. Additionaly, each block is a separately developed, dynamicaly-linked C++ class, that can be loaded during run-time. Also, any number of GUIs for Xai can be developed as XaiEngine provides a universal interface for accessing the functionality. Currently Xai contains a GUI developed in Gtk and based on DiaCanvas.
Enhancements:
- Added handling of multiple blocks directories
- Added execution properties such as limiting iteration count
- Added handling of multiple algorithms through tabs
- Major refactoring of type system
- Several new macros added for easier use in blocks development
