Free butterflies background software for linux

GNOME floating background project subtly changes the color of the GNOME desktop over time -- so slowly that it wont be noticed. This is a good alternative to placing a wallpaper.

The program does have a minimal processor time consumption, as it
sleeps most of the time and its computations are not complicated. In
fact, GFloatbg doesnt change the color directly. It relies on
Nautilus (or an equivalent application) to paint the background using
the color set in the gconf key
/desktop/gnome/background/primary_color, which this program updates
periodically.

GFloatbg doesnt use any window, button or menu, and it can only be
stopped by killing it. This is a feature I dont like too much, but
making a realy nice user interface is just too much for such a little
joke...

GFloatbg starts with a random color and changes it deterministicly by
moving through a HSV-model of colors.

In the HSV-model, colors are described by three parameters:

h = hue stands for the tint of a color
(0 degrees is red, 60 = yellow, 120 = green, 180 = aquamarine, etc)
s = saturations stands for the brightness of the color
(0 = white, 1 = bright)
v = value stands for the intensity of the color
(0 = black, 1 = normal)

Every 10 seconds the hue is increased by 1 degree and the saturation
is changed by a sinus over the hue. The value remains fixed. The
default values are chosen such that all pastel tints are visited, but
these can of course be customized:

value, (satmid-satvar) and (satmid+satvar) must be between 0 and 1

PersonalDB is background process that provides access for multiple users to individual SQL databases. The SQL database provides a central internet accessible datastore for a variety of applications. In particular, the database can be used as a personal information manager (PIM).

However, SQL databases are simply a way of storing structured data. As such, a PersonalDB account can be used to store many different types of data. A PersonalDB account is an ideal way of storing information that should be accessible world-wide.

Personal data like addresses, todo items, and memos are certainly are good choice. A PersonalDB account can also be used to store application settings, so that they follow you from computer to computer.

Remote Growl is an extension to Glow which allows remote notification system for Max OS X (server) and any UNIX (client).

This package includes a Cocoa background application server, and a command line client to send notifications to a remote computer.

Libtubo Interprocess Communication is a small and simple library that can run processes in the background and communicate via the stdout, stderr, and stdin file descriptors.
The functionality of libtubo is similar to the glib function g_spawn_async_with_pipes(), except that all pipe setup and monitoring is taken care of.
The calling function only has to provide the functions with which to process the input/output of the remote process.
The library first appeared in the year 2000 in the xfce3 desktop as part of the xfsamba application, and is now available for use for other developers.

- The version has been updated to the xffm scheme, as this package is now distributed with xffm.

VerticalMeters is a simple system monitor. Two vertical bars. It fits well in the bottom right corner of the screen. Included are both a version with no branding and a version with the BSD Daemon and the new FreeBSD logo in the background.

Obviously inspired by kirambaKUBUNTU, except I wanted one that fit in the right corner, and of course not kubuntu.

Tech Mon Lte is a TechMon variation with no frames, Default font used in theme is Bitstream Vera Sans, make sure you have this font.

This version works best on a darker background, please let me know if you need any variations for lighter wallpaper.
