KDBEdit 0.6.5
KDBEdit is a key database editor for Elektra project. more>>
KDBEdit is a key database editor for Elektra project.
Elektra is a universal hierarchical configuration store, similar to (but better then) GConf and the Windows Registry.
It allows programs to read and save their configurations with a consistent API, and allows them to be aware of other applications configurations, leveraging easy application integration. The whole point of it is to tie applications together, so that they can co-operate and share their user-preferences.
While architecturally similar to other OS registries, Elektra does not have most of the problems found in those implementations.
Elektra includes a library, an API, plus command line and GUI tools for administration tasks.
It is designed to be lightweight, with no dependencies, ready to be used also by early boot stage programs.
Using Elektra, configuration files syntax and handling will not be a rework for each software

yaBi 0.6.1
yaBi is Yet Another Beagle search Interface and it is a python-kde-beagle search interface to find information from beagle. more>>
yaBi (Yet Another Beagle search Interface) is a python-kde-beagle search
interface to find information from beagle.
yaBi uses snappy KHTML to display results, CSS for designing and super-fast beagle-python bindings to retrieve search results. It uses kde preview service to display thumbnails and also shows kde-associated applications for results.
To run, download the file,
$ tar zxvf yabi-0.5.tar.gz
$ cd yabi-0.5
$ ./yabi.py
(Help Wanted: Packaging python applications)
Main features:
- Separation of search results into categories like Music, Pictures, RSS, Webhistory,
- Other files, Mails etc. and showing them in different tabs.
- Summary tab to show the time taken to query, search result summary.
- Formatting of search result done using CSS (and some javascript). Change yabi.css and yabi.js to suit your taste.
- Shows indexed information about results e.g. time when indexed, full path, title (if any), sender (if mail) etc.
- Shows relevant actions (according to the users KDE associations) and standard actions like open in terminal, reveal in konqueror, send as email-attachment.
- Shows thumbnail (on-demand, as thumbnail generation can be slow for certain files).
- Retrieves snippets from beagle in background and displays them when requested.
- Clusters webhistory results into websites and emails into conversations. This helps a lot when the user knows what website/email-conversation might be of interest.
- User can use keyword queries to search specific metadata like extension or sender email-address. Also, allows various specifiers to restrict query by dates, source, type etc.
- It should be clear by now that beagle allows an elaborate query syntax to fetch you just the information you need. There is a easy-accessible help tab which explains the syntax in great detail.
- Information tab to show current beagle status and index information.
- Allow starting/stopping of beagle daemon from the GUI.
- Save queries in bookmarks.

ArbitroWeb is a Web anonymizer written in PHP. ArbitroWeb will redirect all web requests thru its set of scripts, all URLs contained will be adjusted/mangled to its own scripts.
ArbitroWeb is known to be working on following configurations:
1) Linux i386 Box (Kernel 2.4.7, Mandrake 8.0).
Apache v1.3.20 - With DSO Support
PHP v4.0.6 - Installed as DSO Module
2) Sun Solaris 8 Sparc Box.

3) Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Intel
Apache v1.3.20 - Default Installation of Win32 binaries.
PHP v4.0.6 - Configured as a Module with LoadModule Directive.
ArbitroWeb WILL NOT WORK if you have PHP configured to run in CGI mode. Apache users (Win32 and Linux) should change from using ScriptAlias and Action httpd.conf directives, to using the LoadModule directive. (See the INSTALL.txt for more information on this subject)
Enhancements:
- BUG FIX - Using URLs without a path caused errors. Such as "http://www.cnn.com", Fix will now add the root path if it is not provided.
- BUG FIX - index.php would accept anything as a valid URL. Now index.php will attempt to validate the URL before using it.
- BUG FIX - meta tag refreshing is now filtered.
- Meta Tags for ArbitroWeb keyword and description added to index.php
- Added error notification when php is in CGI mode.
- Made log file output conform to apaches access log format.

wmget is a dock app for the Window Maker window manager which makes it more convenient to perform long downloads in the background. It uses the excellent libcurl library, part of the cURL automated-download program, to perform file retrieval.
This is useful if, like me, you tend to have dozens of windows open at a time and tend to do a lot of routine downloading. Just copy the link from your browser, middle-click on the wmget dockapp, and the download will start.
No download windows or terminals required, and you can monitor the progress and stop the transfer if desired without opening or raising any windows or even changing desktops.

JSBlend 0.6
JSBlend is a cross-platform, web-based file comparison and merge tool written mostly in Javascript. more>>
JSBlend is a cross-platform, web-based file comparison and merge tool written mostly in Javascript. The tool can display differences in two files and allow the user to selectively merge them by editing one of the files. JSBlend project relies on a Python or PHP backend to load the initial differences between the two files and to save them after merging.
The backend relies mostly on the GNU DiffUtils toolset which is available on Linux and Windows as open-source software. Specifically, the tool uses diff command to load the differences in a side-by-side format (-y option) initially. After this point, all the user edits are managed within the Javascript and no calls to the backend server is made except for saving the files.
While JSBlend is a general purpose diff/merge tool, it is especially suitable for managing conflicts in configuration files on servers after an update. Many server machines do not have any GUI framework installed and are often run in headless mode on remote sites. Using desktop-based GUI tools for merging the conflicts is not always possible. JSBlend can be a very useful tool when either used standalone or embedded inside an existing administration console.

JD4X 0.6
JD4X is a Java desktop environment for Linux. more>>
JD4X project is a basic GUI Windowing Environment developed to support the Java Programming Language based on top of the X Window system. It was developed with the intention of providing a Java environment that allows Java programmers to build and extend a windowing system purely in Java. However, the project itself is not pure Java and uses a mixture of Java and C.
JD4X is targeted at the hobbyist programmers who desire to put their skills to the test by customizing a desktop of their own. To do this, the JD4X project sets out to provide a native structural foundation that gives them a greater degree of control over their desktop, JVMs and Java classes that runs on the Linux X Window system, thereby giving the Java programmer full control of their desktop environment.
The project also targets Java users who may desire a Java enabled and component based desktop without excluding other native applications already found on their Linux distribution. It does this by also providing a default windowing desktop to cater to the end users who can select a mixture of native and Java applications that they like on their desktop without having to differentiate between them and the way they are executed.
In general, JD4X aims to isolate the underlying platform system to the background and provide a fully Java GUI front end. JD4X is not about a Java only desktop. It is about empowering the Java user and programmer such that the Java desktop will meet their particular needs.
