Castle Linux 2.4
Castle is a server distribution from the ALT Linux Team in Russia. more>>
Castle is a server distribution from the ALT Linux Team in Russia. Installation instructions and some other documentation is available in English.
Brief RSBAC instructions:
1. During installation process you will have to create security officer account. This is a user that can setup RSBAC security configuration.
2. Installer applies to RSBAC kernel two special parameters "rsbac_auth_enable_login" and "rsbac_softmode". Please, dont remove it. You need it for correct installation process.
3. Run RSBAC kernel just after system installation.
4. After reboot RSBAC will function in normal mode. If you need soft mode again, use rsbac_softmode kernel parameter during boot.
5. After finishing system configuration please reboot your server.
6. RSBAC will work in normal mode at all future startups of the system. You can boot RSBAC kernel in "soft" mode again using "rsbac_softmode" kernel parameter.
7. Login as security officer you have created during installation process and run main RSBAC configuration utility "rsbac_admin".
Default security configuration:
* All system directories are in "read only" and "execute only" mode.
* Base system configuration files (e.g /etc/lilo.conf /etc/fstab) are also in read only mode.
* Home directory is available only for users and security officer (but he has no access to users home directories).Security Officers home is situated in the root directory (/secoff) and is open only for the owner. You can also create trusted environment for security officer by putting special files into the home.
* There are some useful scripts in security officers home: to enable/disable useradd, to enable/disable install and an example script for http protection.

Ogrian Carpet 0.9
Ogrian Carpet is a 3D fantasy action/strategy game. more>>
Ogrian Carpet project is a 3D fantasy action/strategy game.
Ogrian Carpet is an outdoor first person shooter game with real time strategy elements, inspired by the game Magic Carpet.
It uses Ogre3D as the renderer and allows you to fly around an island casting spells, summoning monsters, collecting mana, and building castles.
The object of the game is to build a castle, collect mana, and destroy your enemies. To build a castle, select a location, look at the ground, and cast the build spell. Note, you cannot build castles very close to water or other castles.
Your castle starts out small, with only one turret. As more mana is added to your castle, it will gain more turrets. Each turret adds another crane to your castles defense and another spell to your arsenal.
Basically, the game consists of fighting for control of mana. Whenever you encounter another wizard, shoot them with fireballs. If you hit them enough, they will "die" and be sent back to their castle. You are then free to claim all the mana in the area for yourself.
Once all the mana has been claimed, attack your enemys castle to get mana out of it so you can claim it for yourself. Once you enemys castle is out of mana, you can eliminate it by killing its heart. When all of your opponents have been banished, youve won.
Enhancements:
- AI bot player for skirmish
- things can now be loaded from an image, rather then randomly
- option for old randomized maps
- trees can now always bee seen
- made castle mana drops aggregate more
- loosened the restrictions on summoning
- made the config menu better
- added victory conditions to skirmish: kill all enemy towers/castles
- made ticks and gnomes stay in the formation you put them in
- made monsters and towers drop less then their cost when they have no wizard
- made mana float higher
- made towers cheaper (50)
- made sentinels drop much less (3)
- changed speed behavior on lava maps
- added victory music
- new music

Net::Amazon::Validate::ItemSearch 0.39
Net::Amazon::Validate::ItemSearch is a Perl module to validate ItemSearch requests. more>>
Net::Amazon::Validate::ItemSearch is a Perl module to validate ItemSearch requests.
SYNOPSIS
Net::Amazon::Validate::ItemSearch;
my $valid = Net::Amazon::Validate::ItemSearch::factory(search_index => Actor);
my $option = $itemsearch_valid->user_or_default($input);
my $default = $itemsearch_valid->default();
Net::Amazon::Validate::ItemSearch is a class used to verify ItemSearch operation based on the current version of the WSDL and locale. For example if an Artist search is executed the user can search against Classical, Merchants, or Music.
METHODS
factory(search_index => type)
Constructs a new Net::Amazon::Validate::ItemSearch object, used to validate user input for a SearchIndex. Valid types include Actor, Artist, AudienceRating, Author Brand, BrowseNode, City, Composer, Condition, Conductor, Count, Cuisine, DeliveryMethod, Director, ISPUPostalCode, ItemPage, Keywords, MPAARating, Manufacturer, MaximumPrice, MerchantId, MinimumPrice, MusicLabel, Neighborhood, Orchestra, Power, Publisher, Sort, TextStream and Title. Which departments these search indexes are valid for is dependent upon locale.
default()
Return the default value for a given SearchIndex. Default are determined in order of preference and existence from the following list: Books, Music, DVD, Software. If none of those items are valid for a given SearchIndex then the first valid department of said SearchIndex is used.
user_or_default( $input )
If user input is specified it validates the input, and return it, otherwise it returns the default value for the SearchIndex.

jjjuste 1.0
jjjuste is a Java/Jack port/rewrite of JustePort. more>>
jjjuste is a Java/Jack port/rewrite of JustePort. It contains Java classes for streaming data to an Apple Airport Express. The project also contains a Jack client that allows the streaming to be integrated within a Jack audio flow.
The functionality of the basic client is more restricted than JustePort (only raw data at maximum volume), but the Jack integration gives more reliable playback on Linux and the structure of the code has been clarified (if you want to port JustePort to another language I suspect its easier to use jjjuste than JustePort, but I may be biased).
In case the above is not clear, jjjuste contains:
- a basic Java based client that can stream audio data to an Airport Express
- simple integration with Jack, which is an audio server for Linux.
This means that (almost) any audio source playing on Linux can be routed to the Airport (and so played on your hifi, remotely).
Usage:
- Get Jack running
- Download JJack from CVS (it is important you use the very latest CVS code - I committed a patch on 2007-07-10).
- Compile and install JJack (unpack, cd make, ant)
- Download Bouncy Castle and Apache Commons Codec jars
- Download the jar
- Start the client with
java -classpath jjjuste-1.0.jar:[other jars]
-Djava.library.path=[path to directory containing libjjack.so]
org.acooke.jjjuste.jack.FiniteJackClient [airport address]

ProjectCenter 0.4.2
ProjectCenter is GNUsteps official integrated development environment. more>>
ProjectCenter is GNUsteps integrated developement environment (IDE). It is based in part on NeXTs original Project Builder. It assists you in starting new projects and lets you manage your project files using a intuitive and well ordered graphical user interface.
Serg Stoyan is the current maintainer of ProjectCenter. Please contact him if you would like to submit a bug report or volunteer to improve ProjectCenter. The original author of ProjectCenter, Philippe C.D. Robert, no longer actively contributes to the application.
Over a decade ago, NeXT Computer Inc. revolutionized application development by making two great developer tools available for their operation system OPENSTEP: Project Builder and Interface Builder. These applications made application development much easier and faster and took NeXT ahead of the other computer manufacturers and operating system vendors.
Supporting the project types Application, Bundle, Library, Tool, and Aggregate, ProjectCenter automatically creates the project makefiles and aids you in the process of editing, project compilation, package building and debugging. In the future, built-in CVS support will be available, too.
ProjectCenter is a very useable application, but is still evolving. Support is there for project creation and inspection as well as basic Makefile generation. Using the Application project type, you can already create graphical applications using ProjectCenter and Gorm in conjunction.
GNUstep is a free, standard, object-oriented, cross-platform development environment meant to provide generalized visual interface design, a cohesive user interface, and look good as well. GNUstep is based on and completely compatible with the OpenStep specification developed by NeXT (now Apple Computer Inc.).
GNUstep is a whole load of things, but primarily a framework (libraries, tools, applications) for developing software. It is not a not a window manager. And the libraries are not used by WindowMaker at present, although WindowMaker shares a similar look.
At no stage will you ever run GNUstep - you will run applications and tools and will make use of its services. At some point you may well find packages distributed as GNUstep systems in the way that you get GNU/Linux systems packaged today. Look at Simply GNUstep, the GNUstep Live CD, and Project Backbone for examples.
The ProjectCenter will hopefully consist of the following capabilities somewhen in the midterm future:
* Project management
This includes versioning control, automatic makefile generation, file management etc.
* Source code editing facilities
A builtin editor will be available in a future release. This has not main priority, though.
* Debugging fascilities
A builtin debugger will be added to ProjectCenter as soon as possible!
* Documentation automation help
Automatic documentation generation using autogsdoc or another tool will be introduced later.
* UML-based case tool

Ham Radio Control Libraries 1.2.6.2
Ham Radio Control Libraries, Hamlib for short, is a development effort to provide a consistent interface for programmers. more>>
Ham Radio Control Libraries is a development effort to provide a consistent interface for programmers wanting to incorporate radio control in their programs.
Hamlib is not a complete user application, rather, it is a software layer intended to make controlling various radios and other shack hardware much easier.
Hamlib will allow authors of such software as logging programs, digital communications programs, or those wanting to develop the ultimate radio control software to concentrate on the user interface and the basic function of the program rather than radio control.
Most recent amateur radio transceivers allow external control of their functions through a serial interface. Unfortunately, control commands are not always consistent across a manufacturers product line and each manufacturers product line differs greatly from its competitors.
Hamlib attempts to solve this problem by presenting a "virtual radio" to the programmer by providing an API to actions such as setting a given VFOs frequency, setting the operating mode, querying the radio of its current status and settings, and giving the application a list of a given radios capabilities. Unfortunately, what can be accomplished by hamlib is limited by the radios themselves and some offer very limited capability.
