Boolball is a game where you have to drop balls in a field of obstacles to score points. more>>
Boolball is a game where you have to drop balls in a field of obstacles to score points.

Two players each have a row of balls located at the top of the screen, which can be dropped into a field of obstacles. Players take turns dropping one of their balls. The lower the balls fall, the higher the score. Get to the bottom of the field for maximum points. Outsmart your opponent by blocking their balls.

Features easy, medium and difficult computer players to play against, or play head to head with your friends.

Objective

The objective, as with many games, is to score more points than your opponent. Each player has a row of balls, located at the top of the screen, which can be dropped into a field of obstacles. Players take turns dropping one of their balls. The lower the balls fall, the higher the score (2 points per row). The bottom of the field is worth even more: 60 points.

Obstacles

There are various obstacles in the playing field:

Arrows- Left or right arrows make your balls move one square in the way the arrow is pointed The arrow flips the other way as soon as your ball has passed it.
Gray blocks- These babies block any ball instantly. Rest assured though, the gray blocks are removed at the end of the round for instant bonus points.
Teleporters- For that added element of surprise, teleporters randomly teleport your ball to another teleporter.
Bonus blocks- 10 points. Free. Its only there for one player, so grab it before your opponent does.

Strategy and tips

Keep balls that will reach the bottom no matter what for last. They are not very interesting for strategic purposes, see below.

Try to drop those balls which will have a negative effect on your opponents score first, and those balls which will perhaps score better after your opponents balls last.

Go for the bonus blocks, of course, but dont worship them. Balls that hit the bottom of the field are worth far more than a bonus block.

End of the game

The game is over when neither player can drop any more balls; either because they are out of balls or because all the balls are blocked by the opponent. The gray blocks are removed and all balls than can fall do so, scoring more points for their owners in the process. The scores are counted, and the player with the highest score wins!

Open Pinball Simulator project is an pinball simulator. more>>
Open Pinball Simulator project is an pinball simulator.

The program is divided into two processes. The main process takes care of interpreting the .table description files and controls the balls movements according to physical laws.

It communicates the balls coordinates to another process (renderer) which renders the table (taken from the same .table file) and the ball as it moves around.

The main process must also communicate status for objects it hits so that renderer can produce sounds and count scoring.

The rendering process is currently a 2D renderer.

The Biochemical ALgorithms Library (BALL) is a framework for rapid application development. more>>
BALL is Rapid Software Prototyping can significantly reduce development times in the field of Computational Molecular Biology and Molecular Modeling. BALL (Biochemical Algorithms Library) is an application framework in C++ that has been specifically designed for this purpose.
BALL has been carefully designed to be robust, easy to use, and open to extensions. Especially its extensibility which results from an object-oriented and generic programming approach distinguishes it from other software packages.
BALL is well suited to serve as a public repository for reliable data structures and algorithms. Based on BALL we have developed a stand-alone tool for molecular visualization, BALLView . BALLView makes the broad functionality available through an integrated user-friendly GUI.
BALL is distributed under the Lesser GNU Public License (LGPL), parts of it are under the GNU Public License (GPL).
Enhancements:
- This version finally brings full support for Python, DLLs, and nmake Makefiles under Windows.
- A large number of prominent fixes were made, especialy for g++ 4.x.
- Some new functionality was added to BALLView.

base::ball 0.0.2

base::ball 0.0.2

base::ball - b all the namespaces under the given one(s). more>>
base::ball - "b" all the namespaces under the given one(s).

SYNOPSIS

use base::ball qw(Foo::Utils);

equivalent to:

use base qw(Foo::Utils);
use base qw(Foo::Utils::Data);
use base qw(Foo::Utils::UI);
use base qw(Foo::Utils::Sys);
use base qw(Foo::Utils::Sys::Unix);
use base qw(Foo::Utils::Sys::Win32);
use base qw(Foo::Utils::Run);

Recursively searches the directory that the given name spaces are in to also use base on their "child" name spaces based on any .pm files found and any directories that belong to that .pm

In other words, assuming that the Foo/ that Foo::Utils is in has:

Utils/Data.pm, Utils/UI.pm, Utils/Sys.pm, Utils/Sys/Unix.pm, Utils/Sys/Win32.pm, Utils/Run.pm

then the synopsis is correct.

Note it does not follow directories who do not firts have a .pm, in other words:
Foo/Utils/Whatever/Fiddle.pm will no get Foo:Utils::Whatever::Fiddle as base unless Foo/Utils/Whatever.pm exists (and therefore Foo::Utils::Whatever is a base)

This is by design for good reasons and given enough popular demand may lead to support for it.

Games::Baseball::Scorecard is a frontend to a PDF scorecard written in Metapost by Christopher Swingley (http://www.frontier.iarc.uaf.edu/~cswingle/baseball/scorecards.php). That scorecard is drawn out, and has a nice API for actually drawing out the elements of the game: all the ball, strikes, outs, etc.

Being Metapost, it is laborious to do all this. So this module provides a nice frontend, that also keeps track of balls and strikes and hits and runs and outs and more, making input of the game quite simple and efficient.

This module does not include the entire API, but most of it. Patches and ideas welcome. Feel free to call output directly if you want to generate Metapost on your own, or to modify the $SCORECARD variable (which contains the base Metapost code), or the $TEX (single page) and $TEXD (duplex) TeX files.

I wont give a tutorial on scoring baseball games, or on Metapost, below. Seek other resources (Swingleys URL above has a nice tutorial on scoring baseball games, using the scorecard he designed, which is what were using here).

Rebound 0.9.14

Rebound 0.9.14

Rebound is a Diamonds clone. more>>
Sometime in the early 90s a game existed on the Macintosh called Diamonds which was something like a cross between a puzzle and action game. The game play required for the player to use the ball on the screen to hit bricks and destroy them.
However, rather than hitting the ball with a paddle like breakout, the player controlled the left and right of the ball with the arrow keys. The ball still bounces up and down on its own, but there is no bottom to fall off of.
To make the game more interesting some of the bricks were different colors so that only when the ball was the same color could the brick be removed. There was also a key and lock brick set where you first had to get the key to remove the lock brick. Other bricks existed with other functions but the basic goal remained, remove the bricks to pass the level.
The resulting game was fun, challenging, and suitable for all ages. Rebound is a reimplementation of the Diamonds game in C++ for Linux.
The game has actually come quite far and I am finally ready to call the 0.8 release beta. An early beta, but it appears to be quite stable and quite playable. Ive even got 4 levels which I think are fun to play and challenging. Anyone can add new levels by editing the data/level.ldf file. A readme exists in the same directory which describes the format of the file.
Score Area - Only thing that is missing is the countdown timer.
Background - Only one background image is currently supported. It would be nice to have one for each level.
Sound - Background music and some collision sounds.
Entry Screen - DONE
Comments in Level Parser - Currently you cant have any comments in the ldf file. I need to update the parser to allow for comments. I think this means more messing with the lexer.
Level Parser Error Messages - Currently the level parser does not tolerate errors in the level data very well at all. At some point I need to dig into boost spirit again to figure out how to add nicer error messages.
Artwork - Pretty much a complete overhaul of the artwork. Can be done external to the game development.
Levels - I need more levels, at least 15 or 20.
Enhancements:
- 14 playable levels, thanks to submitted levels by Tobin Zerba and Quentin Crain!
- New backgrounds have been added which are images from NASA of outerspace. If you feel these are too dark and distract from the game play, please let me know and I can work on modifying them.
- Version 1.0 will have an rpm release for Linux and perhaps a better installer for Windows.
