hobbitalarm 0.1
hobbitalarm aims to be a notification client for the Hobbit / Big Brother monitor. more>>
The project receives the information about the Hobbit state by polling the Hobbit / Big Brother Web frontend on a configurable, regular basis.
Quick start:
- copy hobbitalarm (x86, gcc4) to your path e.g. /usr/local/bin
OR
- compile for your platform "gcc -o hobbitalarm hobbital.c" and copy the resulting binary to your path
Enhancements:
- This release is in a very early development state.
- Currently, there is no build environment.
- On Linux it compiles with gcc, and for Windows an OpenWatcomC Project is attached to the source code.
- The resulting binaries, early documentation, and configuration examples are bundled.
- It is tagged pre-alpha because essential functions, like process detaching or (for Windows) system tray functionality, are not implemented yet.
- Basic notification is working. Htaccess protected Hobbit / Big Brother Web frontends cannot be reached because no authentication has been implemented yet.

BBDB::Export is a Perl module to export data from The Insidious Big Brother Database. more>>
SYNOPSIS
use BBDB::Export;
# export to LDIF
my $exporter = BBDB::Export::LDIF->new(
{
bbdb_file => "/path/to/.bbdb",
output_file => "export.ldif",
dc => "dc=geekfarm, dc=org",
}
);
$exporter->export();
# sync with ldap via ldapadd and ldapdelete
my $exporter = BBDB::Export::LDAP->new(
{
bbdb_file => "/path/to/.bbdb",
output_file => "/tmp/tempfile",
dc => "dc=geekfarm, dc=org",
ldappass => "supersecret",
}
);
$exporter->export();
# export to vcards
my $exporter = BBDB::Export::vCard->new(
{
bbdb_file => "/path/to/.bbdb",
output_dir => "/some/path/",
}
);
$exporter->export();
# create .mail_aliases
my $exporter = BBDB::Export::MailAliases->new(
{
bbdb_file => "/path/to/.bbdb",
output_file => ".mail_aliases",
}
);
$exporter->export();
This module was designed to export to your bbdb data to a wide array of formats, and also to make it easy to write new modules to export to new formats. Current export options include building an LDIF, vCard, or .mail_aliases, and automatically updating an ldap server.
For a fully functional command line converter, see the bbdb-export script that comes with this module.
BBDB::Export should not be used directly. Use any of the available subclasses using the examples above. For more examples of using BBDB::Export, see the test cases.
Max Dice Roller - Linux 1.01
Max Dice is a simple dice rolling utility for games. more>>
Max Dice is a simple dice rolling utility for use on Windows and Linux systems You may enter your information in one of two places. You may enter in the text box or by moving the slider to the left or right correlating to the field you are adjusting.
Here are the definitions of each of the fields
1. Dice to roll ? This field determines how many dice that the program will roll for you. (1- one dice, 2-two dice, up to as many dice as you need to roll)
2. Size of dice ? This field determines the size of the dice (i.e. standard dice = 6, this would decide what the maximum number would be,)
3. Maxed dice ? This field determines the number of dice to set at the maximum level. (For example if you are rolling 5 dice, and you want 3 at max always, set at 3.)
4. Tossed dice ? This field determines the number of low dice that you will throw out. This will eliminate this number of low throws from the total.
5. Reroll ? high. This will cause all dice that are rolled at this number or higher to be rolled again.
6. Reroll ? low. This will cause all dice that are rolled at this number or lower to be rolled again.
Mr. Voice 2.2
Mr. Voice is a specific-purpose Perl/Tk front-end for an MP3 database. more>>
It was written to provide an easy-to-use MP3 solution for the production booth of an improv comedy troupe, and as such is tailored to providing quick searches and playback of MP3s that are split up into categories.
While not intended to be a standalone desktop MP3 player, others in a similar situation may find it useful.
What is Mr. Voice? A way to have a ton of audio at your disposal, and to be able to call up just the clip you need, just when you need it. If youre running any sort of production that needs audio, such as improv shows, theatre, church events, that sort of thing, Mr. Voice can help. It handles a wide variety of audio formats (MP3, OGG, WAV, AAC, WMA), can do queueing and playlisting, and has a powerful SQL database backend (without needing the overhead of a big database engine like MySQL).
Plus, its 100% free and open-source.
What isnt Mr. Voice? A general-purpose MP3 player. In fact, it doesnt play audio at all by itself - it farms that off to an audio player like XMMS or WinAmp. Its also probably not a wonderful iTunes replacement. Sure, you can categorize and search audio files, but its not designed to become a jukebox.
Enhancements:
- A new option under the Online Preferences to edit the XML-RPC (Mr. Voice Online) URL that is used (in case I need to change it again). It was hardcoded into the program before.
- Fixed bugs that were causing strange quote marks to appear in song and category names.
- Display the song filename in the "Edit Song" menu. Suggested by Bill in Portland.
- Display the time of a song next to the hotkey listing. Suggested by Ted in Chapel Hill.
- Added an option under the File menu to export the song list from your Mr. Voice database as either a text file or Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. Suggested by Ted in Chapel Hill.
xmountains 2.7
xmountains is a project which renders a fractal mountain range. more>>
xmountains is a classic X11 hack that renders a fractally-generated mountain range that slowly scrolls across your desktop.
The basic idea behind a fractal landscape is to generate a continuous surface which varies in height randomly but with the random variation obeying a particular statistical law.
In the case of a fractal landscape the average difference in height between pairs of points separated by a distance l should go as a power law in l.
If you are only interested in random terrain generation rather than fractal self-similarity then you could use other functions of l that tend to zero as l tends to zero.
If the function does not tend to zero then the result will not be continuous
Enhancements:
- Added a -n flag to set the number of colours.
- This changes the same parameter as -B but you request total number of colours.
