bookblog provides a Web log tool for recording book reviews.
Bookblog is a program which runs under a web server (such as Apache) and allows individuals to write up their reviews for a book in a form which is easily accessible, and appears to other browsers as a web log to which they can add their comments.
A central aggregation service summarizes book reviews across individuals, and provides overall ratings for them in the form of a rating profile.

Addresh Book is a (basic) Address Book implemented entirely in Shell Scripts. Current functionality is implemented for adding records, deleting records and searching records.

The Coyotl library defies easy classification much like its namesake. Coyotl collects several C++ tools that have proven useful in many of my programs, but which arent "big enough" to warrant an individual library.

The Twisted Road to Randomness
Genetic algorithms, games, statistical tests, and simulations all rely on "random" numbers. Unfortunately, the built-in "random number" function is inadequate in algorithms where lots, and lots (and lots!) of random values need to be generated. Some of my applications use billions of random numbers in their calculations. In such circumstances, a random number "generator" that produces repetitive or cyclical values is unlikely to produce satisfactory results. This article presents concepts, requirements, and algorithms for generating "random numbers", with a focus on linear congruential and Mersenne Twister algorithms. (Note: This article is undergoing a major revision to reflect new algorithms recently added to libcoyotl.)
Beyond Assert: Validation Tools for Design by Contract
I dont use the assert macro in professional C++ code; instead, I prefer something akin to Bertrand Meyers Design by Contract, albeit with a strong C++ flavor. This article introduces an exception-based validation systems Ive developed for my own projects.
A Maze of Concepts
I began with an idea for an experiment: Use genetic algorithms to evolve searching skills in software organisms; such research is applicable to many applications, including web searching and data mining. Ive puttered about with several such algorithms, and wanted to move to a more complicated environment. This article describes classes for creating, drawing, and persisting 2D mazes in C++.
Enhancements:
- A polymorphic collection of the best psuedorandom number generators, including the Mersenne Twister and Marsaglias favorites.
- Utilities for floating-point numbers, including additional functions for trigonometry, least common multiple, greatest common denominator, rounding, and other purposes.
- A simple cross-platform command-line parser.
- A framework for generating random rectangular mazes.
- A template for fixed-point math based on different integer sizes and decimal point locations.
- Templatized sorting utilities (designed before Std. C++s , but still useful)
- Validation tools for "Design by Contract" programming.
Complete API documentation can be generated with a simple "make docs" command.
A few of the included classes (the array template, for example) could be considered obsolete. I began writing C++ when it was still called "C with Classes", long before the Standard Template Library or projects like Boost. I hesitate to throw away old code, and dont see the sense in replacing working code with something "newer" if the "newer" code isnt also "better".
I have quite a bit of C++ code, from my books and various consulting projects; as time permits, Ill migrate more code into Coyotl.
And one final note: The name of this library changed recently, from "coyote" to "coyotl". The former is a Spanish and English translation of the original Nahuatl word "coyotl". The revised name honors both my favorite song dog and my wifes Central American heritage.

Sticker Book is a project which allows you to place stickers on a background scene.

You can resize, recolour and reorient the stickers that you use, and you never run out. You can even paint with them.

The program is intended for the 3-7 year olds, but its even fun for adults.

It is flexible enough to make sophisticated pictures without being as complex as drawing/painting program.

KAddressBook is a comfortable frontend to organize the addresses of your friends, business partners, etc.

KAddressBook allows you to import and export adressbook files, offers a function to search for adresses and - which is the most important feature: it is fully integrated into the K Desktop Enviroment and interacts with other KDE applications like e.g. KMail.

KAddressBook is part of the kdepim package.

KBookRipper is a CD-riper based on cdparanoia focused on audio books delivered on CD. The project will rip a set of CDs with the same meta data. The output format is OGG, not MP3. The CDs assumes to be part of a audio book.

I wrote it since I was very annoyed that the meta data for a book delivered on several CDs never was the same for all CDs and frequently was missing for at least one of the CDs. The crappy meta data made it hard to rip books with K3B.

This program allows you to enter meta data (author, title, published year) that is used for all the CDs in the book. The only meta data that is changed if the CD-number and that one is increased automatically.

Each books is stored on disk kept together and files are named with the assumption to be part of a book.

For me, this little program has been most valuable since I have ripped about 150 aduio books to put them on my MP3-player. Or, rather, my OGG-player. The output of this program if ogg-files. There is no option what so ever to create MP3-files (although it is a GPLed software and lame takes about the same command options as the oggenc takes).

The applications is made with kommander. The working part is written in bash and the script depends on cdparanoia and oggenc. The command play is used to play a little blip when ac CD is done (blip not included). The script will fail if cdparanoia or oggenc is missing (do the test in the settings-page). If the command play is missing only the blip will fail.

Ive used this for a about one hundred books and I have designed the GUI myself. I guess that disqualifies me to actually have any opinions about the GUI and usability. Du feel free to send me an email and give me feedback. If you think this application is useless, please let me know why.
