Mobi Bluetooth RC 0.9.1

Mobi Bluetooth RC 0.9.1

Mobi is software which is designed to provide access to a Un*x machine using a Bluetooth-enabled SonyEricsson phone. more>>
Mobi is software which is designed to provide access to a Un*x machine using a Bluetooth-enabled SonyEricsson phone.
A simple menu file is used to define a menu structure. Menu items can be tied to arbitrary shell commands or external programs, maximizing flexibility. Menus can also be loaded from programs rather than from files, meaning that dynamically changing menus are easy to realize, e.g. to browse a filesystem, an MP3 collection or a mail folder.
Mobi connects to any phone within its reach which passes the Bluetooth authorization process (usually by providing the correct PIN number). If the phone gets out of reach, Mobi will reconnect once it is found again. The number of simultaneously connected phones is restricted only by hardware capabilities.
Mobi uses the accessory menu of the phone. This feature is present in most SonyEricsson phones. It is tested on a T610, but should work on T68, T68i, T610, T630, Z600, and perhaps other models.
The accessory interface has been completely redesigned for newer phones (K750, W550, W600, W800, Z520), but I am not able to implement this since I do not have access to one of those. For the P800/P900, there are different solutions.
Enhancements:
- No phone reset on connect, since it may end a call in progress.
- Improved installation scripts (using autoconf/automake).
- Menu files may now recursively include other files.
- Improved music playback scripts. Makes it much easier to support other players.
- Reloading the menu file will not do a full reset, but only replace the menu.

64 Studio 2.0 Live

64 Studio 2.0 Live

64 Studio is developing a collection of software for digital content creation on x86_64 hardware. more>>
64 Studio is developing a collection of software for digital content creation on x86_64 hardware (thats AMDs 64-bit CPUs and Intels EM64T chips).
Its based on the pure 64 port of Debian GNU/Linux, but with a specialised package selection and lots of other customisations.
64 Studio has Debian Pure 64 with X.org, the Gnome desktop, kernel 2.6.12 with realtime preemption patches and a selection of creative applications. Please note that this release is provided for testing only, and comes with no warranty.
Problems in this release include useful packages missing or not installed by default, confusing Gnome menus and assorted warnings during installation. There are probably plenty of other things wrong with it as well, which is why were calling this an alpha release. But it does actually install and run on our Opteron and Athlon 64 test hardware.
Anyone who is interested in getting involved with the 64 Studio project would be most welcome. Our aim is to create a distribution with full (but completely optional) commercial support, which will generate revenue to pay free software developers.
Enhancements:
- 64 Studio 2.0 is designed to retain compatibility with Debian Etch, to create a long-lived and stable creative desktop. We combine the stability and quality of Etch with a specialised real-time preemption kernel and the latest creative tools demanded by multimedia artists. Our tweaks to Debian include simplified installation and default settings which help get production underway quickly. Its our target that users should be able to get from a blank hard disc to a fully hardware-optimised and usable creative desktop in just half an hour.

OpenWindows Augmented Compatibility Environment 1.0b4/200703091353

OpenWindows Augmented Compatibility Environment 1.0b4/200703091353

OpenWindows Augmented Compatibility Environment makes it possible to use the older OpenWindows Deskset environment on Solaris. more>>
OpenWindows Augmented Compatibility Environment (OWacomp) makes it possible to use the older OpenWindows Deskset environment on Solaris 9 and 10. OpenWindows Augmented Compatibility Environment is also useful for people that need to compile XView, OLIT, or DevGuide applications.
If you are using Solaris 9 or Solaris 10 and you are missing the older OpenWindows Deskset environment, then these packages are for you! If you need to compile XView/OLIT/DevGuide applications on either Solaris 9 or Solaris 10 then these packages may be of some help as well.
Supported Systems:
- Solaris 9 for Sparc and i86pc.
- Solaris 10 for Sparc and i86pc.
What is included:
OWacomp is mostly a re-packaged version of:
- Solaris 8 OpenWindows SUNWol binary packages and patches.
- Extra XView tools used by the author over the years and that others might be interested in. (olvwm, dumptool, disktool, rootmenu, etc..). Suggestions are welcomed if youd like to see this list expanded.
What is not included:
- The source code to the original OpenWindows binaries is (c) SUN Microsystems Inc. and is not available. Please note that the author never had access to that source code and as such the rebuilt packages are only what they are: rebuilds of packages consisting of packaged binaries built by SUN Microsystems Inc.
- The source code to some of these applications (dumptool, rootmenu) is under NDA with the author and will not be provided.
- The source code to the other applications (xvset, olvwm, pantool, disktool, etc...) is available in the SUNWolsrc package. (Release 1.0b3)
Enhancements:
- This release adds /usr/openwin/lib/checkOW for sparc and i386.
- It adds the Makefile.gcc missing from the olvwm 4.5 source.
- It rebuilds olvwm under Solaris 9/SPARC instead of Solaris 10/SPARC (libm.so.2 vs. libm.so.1 mismatch).
- This fix isnt complete for Solaris 9/i386 yet (olvwm is fine, but other binaries arent).

GNU Pth 2.0.7

GNU Pth 2.0.7

Pth is a very portable POSIX/ANSI-C based library for Unix platforms. more>>
Pth is a very portable POSIX/ANSI-C based library for Unix platforms which provides non-preemptive priority-based scheduling for multiple threads of execution also know as multithreading, inside event-driven applications.

All threads run in the same address space of the server application, but each thread has its own individual program-counter, run-time stack, signal mask and errno variable.

The thread scheduling itself is done in a cooperative way, i.e., the threads are managed by a priority- and event-based non-preemptive scheduler. The intention is that this way one can achieve better portability and run-time performance than with preemptive scheduling.

The event facility allows threads to wait until various types of events occur, including pending I/O on filedescriptors, asynchronous signals, elapsed timers, pending I/O on message ports, thread and process termination, and even customized callback functions.

Additionally Pth provides an optional emulation API for POSIX.1c threads ("Pthreads") which can be used for backward compatibility to existing multithreaded applications.
Notice: GNU pth and OSSP pth are exactly the same.

OSSP pth just became an official part of the GNU project some time ago. Thats why its primary name is now GNU pth, although it is still developed by the OSSP project only.

Pluto Bi-Directional Comm library 2.0.0.38

Pluto Bi-Directional Comm library 2.0.0.38

Pluto Bi-Directional Comm library automates bi-directional communication over bluetooth or sockets. more>>
Pluto Bi-Directional Comm library automates bi-directional communication over bluetooth or sockets. Very object oriented and easy to use. Allows 2 devices to send each other commands.

The framework handles all the handshaking & protocols, and provides a template for commands.

How does it work?

This library allows 2 devices to communicate with each other over sockets or a Bluetooth connection. BD handles the handshaking, communication protocol, and provides a very simple way to send and implement commands.

Both sides are truly peers, and either side send the other a command by creating an instance of the command. Each side creates an instance of BDCommandProcessor, and then either side can create an instance of a command, add it to BDCommandProcessor, and the other side will implement the command. Each command is really just a simple class derived from BDCommand.

You only add whatever member variables your command, and implement a pure virtual "ProcessAction" member function. When one side wants to send that command to the other, it just creates an instance of it, sets member variables, and passes it to the "SendCommand" function in BDCommandProcessor.

The framework will automatically serialize the member variables in the class, and send the data to the other side. On the other side, the framework will recreate the class with the member variables set, and call the "ProcessAction" function which you implement to do whatever the command is supposed to do.

Your software doesnt need to worry about any of the data serialization, or the handshaking, or the sending of the commands. The framework handles all that--you just implement the "ProcessAction" function.

arpalert 2.0.7

arpalert 2.0.7

arpalert uses ARP address monitoring to help prevent unauthorized connections on the local network. more>>
arpalert is used for monitoring networks. It listens on a network interface (without using promiscuous mode) and catches all conversations of MAC address to IP request.
arpalert compares the mac addresses it detected with a pre-configured list of authorized MAC addresses. If the MAC is not in list, arpalert launches a pre-defined user script with the MAC address and IP address as parameters.
This software can run in deamon mode; its very fast (low CPU and memory consumption).
It responds at signal SIGHUP (configuration reload) and at signals SIGTERM, SIGINT, SIGQUIT and SIGABRT (arpalert stops itself)
Enhancements:
- A minor OpenBSD bugfix.
- Very minor code optimization.
