The GNU Hurd project is a set of servers running on top of the GNU Mach microkernel. Together they build the base for the GNU operating system.

Currently, Debian is only available for Linux, but with Debian GNU/Hurd we have started to offer GNU/Hurd as a development, server and desktop platform, too. However, Debian GNU/Hurd is not officially released yet, and wont be for some time.

The Hurd is under active development, but does not provide the performance and stability you would expect from a production system. Also, only about every second Debian package has been ported to the GNU/Hurd. There is a lot of work to do before we can make a release.

Until then, you can participate in the development if you want. Depending on your experience and time commitment, you can help us in many different ways. For example, we need experienced C hackers to develop and implement new features and to fix bugs and debug the system.

If you are not very experienced in C programming, you can still help: Either by testing the existing systems and reporting bugs, or by trying to compile some unported software you have experience with. Also writing documentation is important, or maintaining the web pages.

Barefoot GNU/Linux is a linux distribution based on Vector Linux and Slackware.

Live GNU/Linux the free Knoppix as it takes the usual Knoppix from Klaus Knopper, and strips off all non-free bits and bytes. The result is a product that consists entirely of Free Software.

We hope to provide a useful Free Software resource for you. Live GNU/Linux is also meant as a live system others can base customised version on, if they want to build up a Free Software system as well.

Live GNU/Linux is based on Knoppix which itself is based on Debian GNU/Linux. Freeing the original Knoppix was developed at Intevation.

Quake 4 for GNU/Linux is available now! Were very pleased to announce that this it with both a dedicated server and a native client.

A licensed copy of Quake 4 retail for Windows is required. You will copy the assets files from it and use the CD key (a CD key is not required to run a dedicated server).

The Debian GNU/kFreeBSD ISO image contains a basic rescue system with GNU/kFreeBSD.
Its usable for simple tasks or for just testing, but doesnt setup writable filesystems, nor have the development tools installed.
Debian GNU/kFreeBSD can also be used to install Debian GNU/kFreeBSD.

Pingwinek is a GNU/Linux and GNU/Haiku distribution made in Poland. The main desktop a for GNU/Linux is GNOME. The distro supports Polish and English languages and can also be run as a Live CD.

Pingwinek is an independent distribution. This means that it doesnt synchronize with changes made by other Linux distributions and it uses own package management system called box.

This Live edition could be installed on hard disk (copied). The whole distribution contains over 1300 packages and in 1.0 release is only served as preinstalled system. This means that you cannot select packages to install. Release 2.0 would have installer with an option to choose and install packages via FTP server.
