JBinHex is both a library and a command-line tool, written in Java, to decode files in the Apple Macintosh BinHex 4.0 format. more>>
JBinHex is both a library and a command-line tool, written in Java, to decode files in the Apple Macintosh BinHex 4.0 format.

It accepts the following command line parameters:

Either -u < url > or -f < file > to specify the source BinHexed file. If neither of those options is present, DeBinHex reads stdin.
-d to decode the data fork. It will be put in the file with the name that came from the BinHex header.
-df < filename > to decode the data fork to the named file instead of the name that came from the BinHex header.
-r to decode the resource fork. It will be put in the file with the name that came from the BinHex header, with the extension ".resource" appended to it.
-rf < filename > to decode the resource fork to the named file instead of the name that came from the BinHex header.
Both -d/-df options and -r/-rf may be present at the same time. If none of these options is present, DeBinHex will decode the data fork as if the -d options was specified.
-h to only show the header of the BinHex file on stdout. The decoding options are ignored.

iFind 4.0

iFind 4.0

iFind is the prime internet search software for the people. more>>
iFind is the prime internet search software for the people.

iFind is the top internet search tool.
The real advantage of iFind 4.0 is, to deliver better results when searching for more than one word, like in names.

Best function - specific search, most result links might be related to query
More function - general search, most result links might not be related to query

Example search: Peter Parker
Example result links:
1: ... and the great historian Peter Parker can only be visited...
2: ... people called Peter and it helps to have a Parker pen...

"best" will only return the first result link
"more" will return both result links

PieSpy 0.4.0

PieSpy 0.4.0

PieSpy is an IRC bot that monitors a set of IRC channels. more>>
PieSpy is an IRC bot that monitors a set of IRC channels. It uses a simple set of heuristic methods to infer relationships between pairs of users. These inferrences allow PieSpy to build a mathematical model of a social network for any channel. These social networks can be drawn and used to create animations of evolving social networks.
PieSpy has also been used to visualize Shakespearean social networks.This page got slashdotted on 11 March 2004, with the site getting 250,000 hits per hour. Thanks to Notnet for making sure it all stayed alive!
PieSpy was presented at the Information Visualization conference (IV04) in July 2004. Read the full paper online. It has also appeared in Computer Weekly, ct magazine, and I was interviewed live on BBC Radio Kent.
Enhancements:
- Now tracks nickname changes. Generates images five times faster. Removes formatting and colors from messages. The source code has been refactored to make it easy to add new InferenceHeuristics, which are used to work out who is talking to whom - if you create any good ones, let me know! The config file lets you apply different weightings to each InferenceHeuristic.

DeuTex 4.4.0

DeuTex 4.4.0

DeuTex is a wad composer for Doom, Heretic, Hexen and Strife. more>>
DeuTex is a wad composer for Doom, Heretic, Hexen and Strife. It can be used to extract the lumps of a wad and save them as individual files. Conversely, it can also build a wad from separate files. When extracting a lump to a file, it does not just copy the raw data, it converts it to an appropriate format (such as PPM for graphics, Sun audio for samples, etc.).
Conversely, when it reads files for inclusion in pwads, it does the necessary conversions (for example, from PPM to Doom picture format).If you like to do wad hacking beyond level editing, DeuTex is a must. In addition, DeuTex has functions such as merging wads, etc. I use it all the time.
Main features:
- Supported platforms
- Unix and DOS. Should not be difficult to port to other platforms.
- Supported iwads
- Doom, Doom II, Ultimate Doom, Doom alpha 0.4 and 0.5, Doom press release pre-beta, Heretic, Hexen, Strife.
- Supported file formats
- .au, .voc, .wav, .bmp, .gif (will go away), .ppm.
Enhancements:
- default transparent colour is (0, 47, 47) instead of (0, 255, 255),
- flats are put between FF_START and F_END,
- Doom alpha 0.4 and Doom alpha 0.5 are supported,
- Doom press release pre-beta is supported,
- Hexen is supported,
- Strife is supported,
- new command -usedidx,
- on Unix (especially Linux), builds much more smoothly,
- on DOS and Windows, builds with DJGPP and Cygwin,
- source available and libre license (GPL + LGPL + Pbmplus),
- GIF is deprecated,
- many bug fixes and small improvements.

Convert::BinHex 1.119

Convert::BinHex 1.119

Convert::BinHex can extract data from Macintosh BinHex files. more>>
Convert::BinHex can extract data from Macintosh BinHex files.

ALPHA WARNING: this code is currently in its Alpha release. Things may change drastically until the interface is hammered out: if you have suggestions or objections, please speak up now!

SYNOPSIS

Simple functions:

use Convert::BinHex qw(binhex_crc macbinary_crc);

# Compute HQX7-style CRC for data, pumping in old CRC if desired:
$crc = binhex_crc($data, $crc);

# Compute the MacBinary-II-style CRC for the data:
$crc = macbinary_crc($data, $crc);

Hex to bin, low-level interface. Conversion is actually done via an object ("Convert::BinHex::Hex2Bin") which keeps internal conversion state:
# Create and use a "translator" object:
my $H2B = Convert::BinHex->hex2bin; # get a converter object
while (< STDIN >) {
print $STDOUT $H2B->next($_); # convert some more input
}
print $STDOUT $H2B->done; # no more input: finish up

Hex to bin, OO interface. The following operations must be done in the order shown!
# Read data in piecemeal:
$HQX = Convert::BinHex->open(FH=>*STDIN) || die "open: $!";
$HQX->read_header; # read header info
@data = $HQX->read_data; # read in all the data
@rsrc = $HQX->read_resource; # read in all the resource

Bin to hex, low-level interface. Conversion is actually done via an object ("Convert::BinHex::Bin2Hex") which keeps internal conversion state:
# Create and use a "translator" object:
my $B2H = Convert::BinHex->bin2hex; # get a converter object
while (< STDIN >) {
print $STDOUT $B2H->next($_); # convert some more input
}
print $STDOUT $B2H->done; # no more input: finish up

Bin to hex, file interface. Yes, you can convert to BinHex as well as from it!
# Create new, empty object:
my $HQX = Convert::BinHex->new;

# Set header attributes:
$HQX->filename("logo.gif");
$HQX->type("GIFA");
$HQX->creator("CNVS");

# Give it the data and resource forks (either can be absent):
$HQX->data(Path => "/path/to/data"); # here, data is on disk
$HQX->resource(Data => $resourcefork); # here, resource is in core

# Output as a BinHex stream, complete with leading comment:
$HQX->encode(*STDOUT);

PLANNED!!!! Bin to hex, "CAP" interface. Thanks to Ken Lunde for suggesting this.
# Create new, empty object from CAP tree:
my $HQX = Convert::BinHex->from_cap("/path/to/root/file");
$HQX->encode(*STDOUT);

BinHex is a format used by Macintosh for transporting Mac files safely through electronic mail, as short-lined, 7-bit, semi-compressed data streams. Ths module provides a means of converting those data streams back into into binary data.

Tagneto 0.4.0

Tagneto 0.4.0

Tagneto is a web developer tool and JavaScript libraries to aid MVC development of XML user interfaces. more>>
Tagneto is a web developer tool and JavaScript libraries to aid MVC development of XML user interfaces, with HTML web applications (DHTML, AJAX, RIA, Web 2.0, etc...) being the primary target. It is available under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL).
Tagneto includes a "View Assembly" web developer tool written in Java (1.4+ supported). Tagneto doesnt require Java to run on a web server or to be installed on the end users computer.
The Java tool is an HTML/XML parser that allows the web developer to assemble the HTML/XML source into the final set of pages that will be used as the web application. The source does not have to be valid HTML or XML, but the tags that Tagneto handles do have to be well-formed, as defined by one of the supported syntaxes.
Similar technologies to Tagneto would be Java Server Pages (JSP), Active Server Pages (ASP) or PHP. Read the Why document to understand the motivation for Tagneto and how it is different.
Tagneto also comes with some JavaScript (JS) libraries that aid building the Controller in JavaScript ("JavaScript" is used on this web site, even though ECMAScript is the proper name). The helper JS libraries are not required to use the View assembly part of the tool.
Tagneto was designed to support internationalization (I18N) and localization (L10N), both in the output pages and in the syntax and wording of the actual Tagneto tags. However, the I18N and L10N support has the least amount of testing, so you may find issues. We are eager to find and fix these issues though.
Enhancements:
- Significant changes to the Dynamic Script Request (DSR) API. Decided to go with a reserved global callback handler, onscriptload, to simplify things. Other browser events and the XMLHttpRequest object were used to guide the format and names of the methods and parameters. The result is a much simpler API. A sample usage of the API for RSS and ATOM feeds is described.
- The Tagneto distribution includes a server/dsr directory. This directory contains a DSR jar that helps servers implement the DSR API for use in web applications that use Java Servlets. A sample WAR file that uses the jar is also included. The JAR and WAR file should run with JRE 1.4+.
- The Dsr.js file has been updated to the new API.
- The Tagneto distribution includes the JavaScript libraries in a js directory at the top of the distribution.
- Tagnetos home page has been updated to use the new DSR js and jar libraries for the "Recent Blog Entries" section.
