Flock of Birds Library 1.0.2

Flock of Birds Library 1.0.2

Flock of Birds Library (libfob) provides an interface to the Flock of Birds hardware. more>>
Flock of Birds Library (libfob) provides an interface to the Flock of Birds hardware. Tedious and error prone tasks such as configuring the flocks data mode, sending commands to the flock, and decoding the data received from the flock are all hidden behind libfobs interface.
Programming the flock hardware can be hard. The programmer has to worry about in which format the flock returns data (pos/quat, quat, mat, pos, angles, pos/angles, etc.) Configuring the flock is error prone and hard to get correct. For older version of the Flock of Birds hardware, simply starting the flock can be a chore.
In contrast, libfob has been designed to be easy to use. The programmer simply tells the library the following:
- Serial port the flock is attached to (ex: "/dev/ttyS0").
- Hemisphere the flock should operate in (ex: "DOWN").
- Maximum speed the flock can operate ("FAST" for newer flock hardware "SLOW" for older hardware).
The programmer can then configure the flock on a per bird basis. Any combination of the following information can be retrieved from a bird in the flock:
- Position
- Orientation
- Buttons
At any time, the programmer can retrieve the above information in any of the following formats:
- Quaternion (represents orientation)
- Vector (represent position)
- 4x4 Matrix (represents position/orientation)
The programmer pays no penalty for retrieving data in one format over another. Internally libfob configures the flocks hardware to send data as fast as possible. libfob maintains multiple representations of the data for fast retrieval by the programmer.
libfob also provides facilities to correct orientation information for incorrectly installed bird sensors.

Big Sam 2.2.6

Big Sam 2.2.6

Slash is a database-driven portal system that uses Apache/mod_perl and MySQL. more>>
Slash is a database-driven portal system that uses Apache/mod_perl and MySQL.

As you may know, Slash development for the past several years has all been in CVS, with no tarball releases. We may do a tarball at some point, but for now, we recommend installing the most recent R_ tagged code from CVS.

We tag the code with T_ for our own use (on Slashdot, slashcode.com and use.perl.org) and when we feel one of those weekly test builds is stable enough, we also slap an R_ tag on it. A complete list of tags can always be found on sourceforge.net (in the "Show files using tag" menu).

If you are running a site on a very old version of Slash pre-2.2.6, we recommend that you upgrade to 2.2.6. We recommend you research whether you want to do that.

On the other hand, if you have not already invested a lot of time into a Slash site, we strongly recommend that you begin with the most recent R_ tag.

Today we made a new R_ tag, our version of Slash from January 11, 2006: R_2_5_0_94. This is the most recent since R_2_5_0_74, which dates from June 2005.

The biggest change is CSS, which was implemented just a few weeks after _74. Other changes include reskeys (which largely replace formkeys), and public logtokens (which improve security).

So the current recommended process to build Slash is:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@slashcode.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/slashcode login
(password is blank)
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@slashcode.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/slashcode co -P -r R_2_5_0_94 slash

In the slash directory created, read the INSTALL file (the entire file, especially REQUIREMENTS). Then, if you still want to install Slash, follow the instructions in that file carefully!

Hardware Monitor 1.4

Hardware Monitor 1.4

Hardware Monitor is a multi-purpose, beautiful system-monitoring applet. more>>
Hardware Monitor is a multi-purpose, beautiful system-monitoring applet.
The Hardware Monitor applet is an applet for the GNOME panel which tries to be a beautiful all-around solution to system monitoring. It also strives to be user-friendly and generally nice and sensible, integrating pleasantly with the rest of your GNOME desktop.
Includes different viewers, including a flame effect, allows multiple devices to be monitored in the samme applet, uses smooth updating, polished graphs, clean HIG-compliant interface.
Main features:
- A graphical view where each monitor is represented by a (time, measurement) colored curve
- A bar-plot view with a horizontal bar per monitor
- A column view with a column (time, measurement) diagram for each monitor
- A textual view which simply lists the monitors and the currently measured values
- A flame view which produces spiffy flames, the sizes of which are determined by the values of the monitored device
And the applet supports monitoring the following hardware characteristics:
- CPU usage (all CPUs, or one at the time) - niced background processes such as SETI@home are automatically ignored
- Memory usage - cache and buffers are automatically ignored
- Swap usage
- Load average
- Disk usage (or disk space free)
- Network throughput (Ethernet, wireless, modem, serial link), either incoming or outgoing or both
- Temperatures from internal sensors (e.g. system board and CPU temperatures)
- Fan speeds from internal sensors

SDL for AmigaOS 4.0 project is a port of SDL, the Simple Directmedia Layer, for AmigaOS 4.0 SDL is a popular open-source API for games and other software that need low-level access to video and audio hardware and input devices.

SDL was created and is maintained by Sam Lantinga, but has had a legion of contributors of the years (see SDL credits). The AmigaOS 4.0 port was created originally by Thomas and Hans Joerg Frieden, but for the last two years has largely been the work of me, Richard Drummond.

Other contributors include Juergen Schober (who developed the audio layer). You can find may OS4.0 applications built with SDL at os4depot.net and some that I have built on my Amiga Stuff page.

PHP Big Brother Hosts Configurator (phpBBHC) is a collection of PHP scripts and one C program to configure hosts
for the Big Brother network monitoring software. It doesnt cover all the possible settings for Big Brothers hosts file but it should be enough for
most demands.

Ammendment: Big Brother has been pretty much replaced by Hobbit. I havent got around to using Hobbit yet but Ive heard its pretty backwards compatible with Big Brothers configuration and scripts. Ive heard of successful stories
of phpBBHC being used to configure Hobbit.

AJAX Book Reader 1.00

AJAX Book Reader 1.00

AJAX Book Reader is a complete AJAX client-server application. more>>
AJAX Book Reader is a complete AJAX client-server application that may be used with a Web browser to display a sequence of text files one page at a time.

The display style is completely controlled by a configuration file. The first application of this is as a book viewer where each chapter resides in a seperate text file.

AJAX Book Reader application is also suitable for any case where it is not practical to show all of the text to be displayed at once in the browser window.

It is assumed there is a directory that contains text files named [book][chapter]#.[ext]
and directory has been assigned to the $shelf variable in .pt-config
and [book] is 1 to N characters to identify a collection of chapters
and [chapter] is the chapter seperator (default=c)
and # is the 0 based chapter number
and [ext] is the extension of the text files (default=.txt)
and each file contains one chapter of text
and there is optionally a chapter index file [book].lis
in the shelf directory where the first line is the title of the book
and the second line is the authors name
and subsequent lines are the chapter names

It is further assumed that read.php contains the div tags < div > with an id of title, where the books title will be placed author, where the authors name will be placed navbar, where the page/chapter navigation controls will be placed page, where the text of the page will be placed

.pt-config should be changed to suit your preferences but there is nothing else especially designed to be user configurable in the other files

Hardware::iButton 0.03

Hardware::iButton 0.03

Hardware::iButton is a Perl module that allows to talk to DalSemi iButtons via a DS2480 serial widget. more>>
Hardware::iButton is a Perl module that allows to talk to DalSemi iButtons via a DS2480 serial widget.

SYNOPSIS

use Hardware::iButton::Connection;
$c = new Hardware::iButton::Connection "/dev/ttyS0";
@b = $c->scan();
foreach $b (@b) {
print "family: ",$b->family(), "serial number: ", $b->serial(),"n";
print "id: ",$b->id(),"n"; # id = family . serial . crc
print "reg0: ",$b->readreg(0),"n";
}

This module talks to iButtons via the "active" serial interface (anything using the DS2480, including the DS1411k and the DS 9097U). It builds up a list of devices available, lets you read and write their registers, etc.

The connection object is an Hardware::iButton::Connection. The main user-visible purpose of it is to provide a list of Hardware::iButton::Device objects. These can be subclassed once their family codes are known to provide specialized methods unique to the capabilities of that device. Those devices will then be Hardware::iButton::Device::DS1920, etc.

iButtons and solder-mount Touch Memory devices are each identified with a unique 64-bit number. This is broken up into 8 bits of a "family code", which specifies the part number (and consequently the capabilities), then 48 bits of device ID (which Dallas insures is globally unique), then 8 bits of CRC. When you pass these IDs to and from this package, use hex strings like "0123456789ab".
