SIVE 1 Beta 3
SIVE, short from Simple iPod Video Encoder, is a graphical tool to make video conversion for iPod Video real simple. more>>
SIVE, short from Simple iPod Video Encoder, is a graphical tool to make video conversion for iPod Video real simple.
SIVE is a GTK2 frontend to mplayer, mencoder and mp4creator. With it, you convert your movies to play them on your iPod very easily. It currently works under unix OSes (yes, including your linux distro) ); im thinking about Windows porting but thats far from being a priority, since similar tools already exist in the Windows world (and I dont like Windows programming, too).
Its usefulness is pretty clear : it makes converting videos for playing on iPod Video real simple, allowing to select audio tracks and subtitles tracks. No need for end users to browse manpages and documentation to learn how to convert their videos to read them on iPod, which might make them think "geez, its so easy under MacOS and Windows and so difficult in Linux/Unix". This simple GUI does the job.
SIVE produces iPod compliant H.124 videos, by using mencoder to encode and mp4creator to create a container iPod Video can use. It generates the options to be passed to these command line tools in order to create what the user asked (bitrate, audio track, subtitles, resolution, scale, crop). It shows the commands and their results in an embedded terminal so the user can learn how to use these tools manually.
It does not do any conversion itself : this tricky job is left to the tools which are known for doing it well.
At the moment, SIVE supports :
Input formats :
- MKV
- AVI
- (other common formats mencoder can handle will be added soon)
Output format :
- H.124, "baseline profile level 1.3" (these are iPod requirements ; understand "the videos play on iPod Video")
Input subtitles formats :
- embedded in input file (MKV)
- .sub file
- .srt file
- (other formats will be added soon)
- Audio track selection (MKV)
- Batch conversion
- Desktop integration
Translations :
- English
- French
- Chinese coming very soon
- Other languages coming

WASTE 1.5 beta 3
WASTE provides a encrypted communication tool that allows for safe chat and transfer. more>>
WASTE provides a encrypted communication tool that allows for safe chat and transfer.
WASTE is a mesh-based workgroup tool that allows for encrypted, private communication between distant parties on the Internet, independent of local network organization. I
t is RSA secured, and has been heralded as the most secure P2P connection protocol currently in development. WASTE functions as a both a server and a client under *nix, Mac OS X, and Windows, as well as a server only mode under *nix and Windows.
WASTE is a software product and protocol that enables secure distributed communication for small (on the order of 10-50 nodes) trusted groups of users.
WASTE is designed to enable small companies and small teams within larger companies to easily communicate and collaborate in a secure and efficient fashion, independent of physical network topology.
Main features:
- WASTE is currently available for 32-bit Windows operating systems as a client and server, Mac OS X as a limited client and server, and as a limited functionality server for Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, and Windows. Porting to other operating systems should be a breeze, as the source is provided (and the network code itself is pretty portable).
- WASTE is licensed under the GPL.
- WASTE currently provides the following services:
- Instant Messaging (with presence)
- Group Chat
- File browsing/searching
- File transfer (upload and download)
- Network architecture: WASTE uses a distributed architecture that allows for nodes to connect in a partial mesh type network. Nodes on the network can broadcast and route traffic. Nodes that are not publicly accessible or on slow links can choose not to route traffic. This network is built such that all services utilize the network, so firewall issues become moot. more information.
- Security: WASTE uses link-level encryption to secure links, and public keys for authentication. RSA is used for session key exchange and authentication, and the links are encrypted using Blowfish in PCBC mode. The automatic key distribution security model is very primitive at the moment, and may not lend itself well to some social situations. more information.
Enhancements:
- A preliminary port of WASTE to wxWidgets.
- Compiled for Linux, and based on WASTE v1.5 beta 3 for Windows.
- Now includes seperate source for the current wxWidgets port (also in development and will be unified in the next version).

mrouted 3.9 Beta 3
mrouted project is a DVMRP multicast routing daemon. more>>
mrouted project is a DVMRP multicast routing daemon.
mrouted is an implementation of the DVMRP multicast routing protocol. It turns a UNIX workstation into a DVMRP multicast router with tunnel support, in order to cross non-multicast-aware routers.
Enhancements:
- IGMP could report membership in local-only groups (i.e. 224.0.0.X)
- IGMP could get confused by hearing its own new membership reports, thus a router would never perform fast leave.
- IGMP could reset timers for the wrong interface.
- mrouted put a bogus value in the maximum timeout field of IGMPv2 query packets.
- Non-querier mrouters would respond to IGMP leave messages
- mrouted was not performing fast leave properly
- If the last member goes away on a transit network, the upstream router would stop forwarding even if there are downstream members.
- Kernel hash function improved
- Eliminated possibility of panic(): timeout in cache maintenance
- Reordered resource allocation when sending upcall to handle failure properly
- some endian-ness bugs squashed in mrouted, probably more to go.
- Multicast traceroute could send a reply on a disabled interface.

Sonic Action Beta 3
Sonic Action is a multiplatform Sonic fangame based on the SRB2 story. more>>
Sonic Action is the first SRB2 Town related game. Anywhere, instead of the standard story that you read everyday, this time the viewpoint is more orientated to Sonic.
But Im not saying that well not appear in the game, nothing of that kind. Im planning to get we appear in the game. So dont ask me about that.
The engine of Sonic Action is incredibly good: you can think that Sega made it. Thats because six months of developing can do wonderful things. And this is not developed using programs such as Game Maker, MFF or TGF, normally used for make fangames, its programmed in C++ with Allegro.
And is more: Tails92 will port the different versions of Sonic Action to other OS like Linux or FreeBSD (Sonic Action is orignally programmed for Windows).
The story is very original, as far as the fangames stories that I know.. But you can get more info in the Sonic Action sections (scroll down the menu).
Enhancements:
- New levels: Badnik City and Eggman Base (the last is incomplete).

AsterFax 1.1 Beta 3
AsterFax is an email to fax gateway for the transmission of faxes using Asterisk. more>>
AsterFax is an email to fax gateway for the transmission of faxes using Asterisk.
Asterisk is an Open Source PABX (or PBX) which provides all of the functionality of a high end PBX, free of charge.
AsterFax builds on the services provided by Asterisk to provide a full fledged email based Fax Gateway.
What that means is that with AsterFax and Asterisk you can send faxes from your desktop using your standard email client without have to install any software on your desktop.
AsterFax can translate a normal email message into a fax message. You simply enter the destination phone number in the To address, compose your email message and click send. Its that easy.
For more formal correspondence AsterFax also supports a growing number of file formats such as PDF, Tiff, Postscript, MS-Word and OpenOffice Writer. You can either attach the file to your email message or for applications such as MS-Word and OpenOffice you can fax directly from the applications by using the Send Email option. The resulting email is sent as a fax message.
If any errors occurring during transmission a error report is sent back to your inbox.
You can also preview how the fax will look by sending email to the special preview address, which simply formats the message ready for transmission and then sends it back to you via email for previewing before the fax is sent.
AsterFax supports a growing list of file types such as Tiff, PDF, postscript, MS-Word, MS-Excel and the OpenOffice Writer. AsterFax is also extensible in that you can easily add support for additional file formats via the AsterFax.xml configuration file providing that you have access to a third party product that can convert your required file format to one of the supported file formats such as PDF or tiffg3.
Additional file formats will follow shortly (see the Roadmap).
For the technically minded AsterFax is written in pure Java and utilizes the Asterisk Manager API to submit jobs.
AsterFax uses external applications to perform the conversion of attachments to the required tiff format for transmission.
AsterFax can be extended via a simple xml configuration file to convert and transmit any other file format providing a suitable conversion application is available.
AsterFax includes a simple standalone SMTP gateway which handles the receipt of emails. AsterFax is not a complete SMTP gateway in that it will only accept messages which are to be faxed. Alternatively AsterFax can be integrated with your existing SMTP server (Sendmail. Postfix, Exchange Server) by way of tools such as Procmail.
AsterFax requires Asterisk@Home or Asterisk with the spandsp (txfax, rvfax) extensions.
Main features:
- Built as an extension to Asterisk.
- Integrated SMTP gateway provides a simple one stop install.
- Support for a number of file formats including: Tiffg3, Postscript, PDF, Word, OpenOffice Writer.
- Preview mode allows previewing of rendered faxes before they are sent.
- Support for multiple Asterisk Channels as well as group channels (e.g. Zap/g0).
- Send faxes without specialised Fax Modems (just use your existing Asterisk/Digium hardware).
- Send faxes directly from MS-Word and OpenOffice Writer
- No client side install required.
- Send standard email (text or html) as fax or attach a Word, PDF, Writer etc.. for transmission as a fax.
- Email body used as a Coversheet to attachments
- Send to multiple recipients in a single message by providing multiple To addresses.
- No special formatting required in the email.
- Extensible support for additional file formats via simple xml configuration file.
- Built-in test suite to aid in configuration and installation.
- Automatic Archiving of all faxes to a designated mailbox.
- Automatic Delivery receipts.
