Soothsayer 0.4

Soothsayer 0.4

Soothsayer is an intelligent predictive text entry platform. more>>
Soothsayer is an intelligent predictive text entry platform. Soothsayer exploits redundant information embedded in natural languages to generate predictions. Soothsayers modular and pluggable architecture allows its language model to be extended and customized to utilize statistical, syntactic, and semantic information sources.
A predictive text entry system attempts to improve ease and speed of textual input. Word prediction consists in computing which word tokens or word completions are most likely to be entered next. The system analyses the text already entered and combines the information thus extracted with other information sources to calculate a set of most probable tokens.
The set of most probable tokens, a list of suggestions, is displayed to the user. If the token the user intended to enter is in the list, the user selects it and it is automatically entered by the system. If the list of suggestions does not contain the desired word, the user continues entering text until the correct suggestion is offered or until the user is done entering text.
Soothsayer is fundamentally different from predictive input technologies commonly found on mobile phones, which might more accurately be described as disambiguating text entry rather than predictive text entry systems.
Such systems do not try to guess what the user intends to write in the future, only to determine what they most-likely intend to write in the present, given their past input.
Soothsayer, on the other hand, actively predicts the what the user intends to write, and only reverts to word completion mode if the prediction did not contain the desired token.
Soothsayer is free software and its distributed under the term of the General Public License.
Enhancements:
- This release includes the new abbreviation expansion predictive plugin, which allows users to specify a file containing a list of abbreviations/expansions pairs.
- It also includes bugfixes and documentation improvements.

Tk::Text::Viewer 0.93

Tk::Text::Viewer 0.93

Tk::Text::Viewer is a text widget that can display text files under TK. more>>
Tk::Text::Viewer is a text widget that can display text files under TK. It enable the user to search text and navigate in a Text widget. The reason for creating this module is that it doesnt require downloading of modules other that Tk; Look for widget options in the Tk::Text manpage. A separate viewer.pl program is included and can be used as a stand alone file browser.
The Viewer widget also inherits all the methods provided by the generic Tk::Widget and Tk::Text classes.
The following additional method is available for viewer widgets:
$text_view->Load($filename)
Load file into the text widget.
$text_view->LabelConfig(string or hash ref)
$text_view->LabelConfig(``Search:)
Change label for the search entry field. You might want to change this label if the widget is used in a non English application.
$text_view->LabelConfig(``-cursor=> dot)
Change one label widget option (for example cursor).
$text_view->LabelConfig({text=>Find:,-cursor=>dot,...})
Replace label widget options with your own set of options. Do not change the Name option of the label widget. See the Tk::Label manpage for valid options
$text_view->EntryConfig(string or hash ref)
Change the entry widget options. Read LabelConfig for information about parameters. See the Tk::Entry manpage for valid options.
Enhancements:
- This version requiers Tk 804. If you have older Tk you my use version 0.91
- fix Tk::Entry options like -text to comply with Tk 804.027
- Enable utf8 support for UTF-8 locale on Perl 5.8

Posy::Plugin::TextToHTML is a Posy plugin to convert plain text files to HTML.

SYNOPSIS

@plugins = qw(Posy::Core
...
Posy::Plugin::TextToHTML
...);

This uses the HTML::TextToHTML module (as used by the txt2html script) to convert the body of an entry from text into HTML. This checks the extension of the entry file, and if it is txt, then it will convert the entry.

This basically replaces the parse_entry method, and calls the parent method for anything other than text.

KeySafe is a safe place to keep your passwords. more>>
KeySafe project is a small tool I wrote because I wasn?t very happy with the password keepers I?ve tried.
All of them required way too much work just to choose the correct password, and then to copy it into the relevant login dialogue.
Main features:
- Usage and configuration is split up, meaning that the user interface for finding a given password is very simple.
- Search is implemented in a drop-down text entry, no more scrolling or confusing tree hierarchies to find navigate.

SuperKaramba Calculator is a very simple calculator theme, with a lot of hidden power. more>>
The normal desktop calculators seem counter-intuitive to me. Why emulate the limited interface (ie a numeric pad) of a pocket calculator, when youve got the power of a desktop computer and keyboard at your finger tips.

SuperKaramba Calculator is a very simple calculator theme, with a lot of hidden power. It uses the google calculator as its engine, which means that it can do complex calculations from a very simple interface. If the calculation is a simple mathematical expression, the theme will use the bc program, rather than going online. It does unit conversions and currency conversions as well.

You can enter an equation in mathematical notation, or in everyday language. For example:

four plus five
4+5
2000 kilometers per hour in feet per year

The theme stores the last 10 queries, so that you can go back over them.

The theme checks for invalid characters, and parentheses mismatches.

The theme also allows you to use the keyword "ans" in your query, which will substitute the last result into your current query. This could save typing a lot of text if youre chaining queries together.

How to use it ...

This is so simple to use, it doesnt really need a manual. The theme consists of three elements. A text entry box, a text display and a button.

To run a calculation, put your query in the text box. Then left click the button. The theme will go off and do its magic, and come back with an answer that will be displayed as text underneath the text box.

Sometimes what you enter may not be able to be processed, either because youve typed it wrong, or it doesnt understand you, or because youre asking it to do too much. If that is the case, then the theme will tell you.

To access previous queries, middle click on the button, and select the relevant query from the dropdown list.

Kukkaisvoima 7

Kukkaisvoima 7

Kukkaisvoima is a lightweight weblog system licensed under GNU GPL version 2. more>>
Kukkaisvoima is a lightweight weblog system licensed under GNU GPL version 2. The project is made with Python programming language.
It stores all blog entries as plain text files so you can easily write and edit those with your favorite editor. Motivation for Kukkaisvoima was to do simple everything in one package weblog with Python.
Main features:
- Multiple categories for one entry
- No external dependencies outside Pythons standard library (no need for database engine etc.)
- Comments
- RSS feed for all entries and for every category
Install instructions:
After downloading the latest version of Kukkaisvoima. Move the package to your webdirectory and do the following steps:
tar xvfz kukkaisvoima-(versionnumber).tar.gz
cd kukkaisvoima-(versionnumber)
chmod +x index.cgi
mkdir temp
You may need to modify the index.cgi script suffix (change .cgi to .py) or use different permissions for the index.cgi script or for the temp directory. Temp directory should be writable by the script. For more information and help consult your webserver manual or local Python/Unix guru.
Configuring and using:
Edit the Config variables found in kukkaisvoima_settings.py. After configuring you can write blog entries as html formatted text files in directory specified in config file. Kukkaisvoima will generate the blog from these entries. Every entry must be in the format of
nameoftheantry:YYYY-MM-DD:category1,category2.txt
For example:
helloworld:2006-12-28:general.txt
As seen in the example entry can have multiple categories separeted with comma.
Enhancements:
- This release introduced a spam question to prevent spam comments and an admin interface for deleting comments.

HTML::Widgets::Index 0.6

HTML::Widgets::Index 0.6

HTML::Widgets::Index is a Perl module for creating web indexes and menus. more>>
HTML::Widgets::Index is a Perl module for creating web indexes and menus.

This module renders the index of a document tree using the data stored in a MySQL database generated by anxova. It has a flexible set of render options that gives the webmaster many options on the menu item layout.

Table

The tree data must be in a table in a database. The fields of this table should be:

id: int identifies the entry
uri: varchar(150) link of the entry
text: varchar(150) text displayed in the screen
id_parent: int the parent of the current entry. The root is 0
ordern: int menu item position on the menu

Data

Say you have a document tree like this:

a
a1.html
a2.html

b
b1.html
b2
b21.html
b22.html
b3.html

c
c1.html

Then you must enter this in the table :

; First the directory A
INSERT INTO index_items (id,id_parent,uri,text)
VALUES (1,0,a,dir A);

; Now the docs of the a dir
INSERT INTO index_items (id,id_parent,uri,text)
VALUES (2,1,a1.html,A first);
INSERT INTO index_items (id,id_parent,uri,text)
VALUES (3,1,a2.html,A 2nd);
; Now the directory B INSERT INTO index_items (id,id_parent,uri,text) VALUES (4,0,b,dir B); INSERT INTO index_items (id,id_parent,uri,text) VALUES (5,4,b1.html,B first);

; The directory B has subdirs INSERT INTO index_items (id,id_parent,uri,text) VALUES (6,4,b2,B second section);
INSERT INTO index_items (id,id_parent,uri,text)
VALUES (7,6,b21.html,B 2 1 doc);

Notice the uri field is relative, not absolute. You dont need to specify all the path to a document. So you can move docs in the directory, then just change the parent in the table.

The items are sorted alphabetically, if you want to change the order displayed in the html, just add the field ordern when you do the insert:

INSERT INTO index_items (id,id_parent,uri,text,ordern)
VALUES (5,4,b1.html,B first,2);

INSERT INTO index_items (id,id_parent,uri,text)
VALUES (6,4,b2,B second section,1);
