Google Reader is one of the best web-based feed readers out there, but it could stand a few adjustments. Greasemonkey scripters have come up with a few Google Reader user scripts that make some welcome GReader tweaks like maximizing the viewing area, skipping Google's default subscribe mechanism, and adding keyboard shortcuts. And those are what this extension is designed for!

Zim 0.20

Zim 0.20

Zim is a WYSIWYG text editor written in Gtk2-Perl. more>>
Zim is a WYSIWYG text editor written in Gtk2-Perl. Zim aims at bringing the concept of a wiki to your desktop. For example every page is saved as a text file with wiki markup. Pages can contain links to other pages, and are saved automatically.
Creating a new page is as easy as linking to a non-existing page. This tool is intended to keep track of TODO lists or serve as a personal scratch book.
Development on Zim started september 2005. This means there is no stable version yet. We are currently in beta testing. New releases will be announced on freshmeat. Please subscribe there to stay in touch.
Zim handles several types of markup, like headings, bullet lists and of course bold, italic and highlighted. This markup is saved as wiki text so you can easily edit it with other editors. Because of the autosave feature you can switch between pages and follow links while editing without worries.
Enhancements:
- Among other fixes, a bug where zim would hang on "new link" on some platforms was fixed, as well as a bug that could corrupt links on "update link".
- New features are the option to control the look of a new page through a template and to control the rendering of pages through a simple kind of stylesheet.
- Support for slow filesystems was added.
- Other improvements include better handling of formatting in the undo stack and the addition of a "document root" setting to the repository.

HTML Tidy

HTML Tidy

HTML Tidy cleans up HTML source and formats it nicely. more>>
HTML TIDY is a free utility to fix mistakes made while editing HTML and to automatically tidy up sloppy editing into nicely layed out markup. It also works great on the atrociously hard to read markup generated by specialized HTML editors and conversion tools, and can help you identify where you need to pay further attention on making your pages more accessible to people with disabilities.
When editing HTML its easy to make mistakes. Wouldnt it be nice if there was a simple way to fix these mistakes automatically and tidy up sloppy editing into nicely layed out markup? Well now there is! Dave Raggetts HTML TIDY is a free utility for doing just that. It also works great on the atrociously hard to read markup generated by specialized HTML editors and conversion tools, and can help you identify where you need to pay further attention on making your pages more accessible to people with disabilities.
Tidy is able to fix up a wide range of problems and to bring to your attention things that you need to work on yourself. Each item found is listed with the line number and column so that you can see where the problem lies in your markup. Tidy wont generate a cleaned up version when there are problems that it cant be sure of how to handle. These are logged as "errors" rather than "warnings".
Dave Raggett has now passed the baton for maintaining Tidy to a group of volunteers working together as part of the open source community at Source Forge. The source code continues to be available under an open source license, and you are encouraged to pass on bug reports and enhancement requests at http://tidy.sourceforge.net.
If you find HTML Tidy useful and you would like to say thanks, then please send me a (paper) postcard or other souvenir from the area in which you live along with a few words on what you are using Tidy for. It will be fun to map out where Tidy users are to be found! My postal address is given at the end of this file.
The W3C public email list devoted to HTML Tidy is: . To subscribe send an email to html-tidy-request@w3.org with the word subscribe in the subject line (include the word unsubscribe if you want to unsubscribe). The archive for this list is accessible online. If you would like to contact the developers, or you just want to submit an enhancement request or a bug report, please visit http://tidy.sourceforge.net.
Tidy can now perform wonders on HTML saved from Microsoft Word 2000! Word bulks out HTML files with stuff for round-tripping presentation between HTML and Word. If you are more concerned about using HTML on the Web, check out Tidys "Word-2000" config option! Of course Tidy does a good job on Word97 files as well!
Main features:
- Missing or mismatched end tags are detected and corrected
- End tags in the wrong order are corrected
- Fixes problems with heading emphasis
- Recovers from mixed up tags
- Getting the
in the right place
- Adding the missing "/" in end tags for anchors
- Perfecting lists by putting in tags missed out
- Missing quotes around attribute values are added
- Unknown/Proprietary attributes are reported
- Proprietary elements are recognized and reported as such

KatchTV is an "Internet TV" application for KDE. KatchTV makes it easy to subscribe to "TV" channels from all over the internet in the form of podcasts, so that you can browse channels, download shows, and watch them, all from one convenient interface.

KatchTV is very similar to Democracy TV, but focuses on KDE integration, using KHTMLPart and embedded players such as kaffeine. Its much faster, and lighter on resources if you run a KDE desktop without GTK apps.

Installation is easy, as long as your distro has PyKDE, PyQt, and Kaffeine. Just untar to some directory like /usr/local, and run the KatchTV program. You can also make a symlink to that executable from a directory like /usr/local/bin, and KatchTV will work out where to find its files.

Comments welcome; let me know if youve any problems using it.

IPC::PubSub 0.22

IPC::PubSub 0.22

IPC::PubSub is Perl module for Interprocess Publish/Subscribe channels. more>>
IPC::PubSub is Perl module for Interprocess Publish/Subscribe channels.

SYNOPSIS

# A new message bus with the DBM::Deep backend
# (Other possible backends include Memcached and PlainHash)
my $bus = IPC::PubSub->new(DBM_Deep => /tmp/pubsub.db);

# A channel is any arbitrary string
my $channel = #perl6;

# Register a new publisher (you can publish to multiple channels)
my $pub = $bus->new_publisher("#perl6", "#moose");

# Publish a message (may be a complex object) to those channels
$pub->msg("This is a message");

# Register a new subscriber (you can subscribe to multiple channels)
my $sub = $bus->new_subscriber("#moose");

# Publish an object to channels
$pub->msg("This is another message");

# Set all subsequent messages from this publisher to expire in 30 seconds
$pub->expiry(30);
$pub->msg("This message will go away in 30 seconds");

# Simple get: Returns the messages sent since the previous get,
# but only for the first channel.
my @msgs = $sub->get;

# Simple get, with an explicit channel key (must be among the ones
# it initially subscribed to)
my @moose_msgs = $sub->get("#moose");

# Complex get: Returns a hash reference from channels to array
# references of [timestamp, message].
my $hash_ref = $sub->get_all;

# Changing the list of channels we subscribe to
$sub->subscribe(some-other-channel);
$sub->unsubscribe(some-other-channel);

# Changing the list of channels we publish to
$pub->publish(some-other-channel);
$pub->unpublish(some-other-channel);

# Listing and checking if we are in a channel
my @sub_channels = $sub->channels;
my @pub_channels = $pub->channels;
print "Sub is in #moose" if $sub->channels->{#moose};
print "Pub is in #moose" if $pub->channels->{#moose};

# Raw cache manipulation APIs (not advised; use ->modify instead)
$bus->lock(channel);
$bus->unlock(channel);
my @timed_msgs = $bus->fetch(key1, key2, key3);
$bus->store(key, value, time, 30);

# Atomic updating of cache content; $_ is stored back on the
# end of the callback.
my $rv = $bus->modify(key => sub { delete $_->{foo} });

# Shorthand for $bus->modify(key => sub { $_ = val });
$bus->modify(key => val);

# Shorthand for $bus->modify(key => sub { $_ });
$bus->modify(key);

This module provides a simple API for publishing messages to channels and for subscribing to them.

When a message is published on a channel, all subscribers currently in that channel will get it on their next get or get_all call.

Currently, it offers three backends: DBM_Deep for on-disk storage, Memcached for possibly multi-host storage, and PlainHash for single-process storage.

Please see the tests in t/ for this distribution, as well as "SYNOPSIS" above, for some usage examples; detailed documentation is not yet available.
