VietIME is a Java-based Vietnamese input method editor (IME). Enable input of Vietnamese Unicode text in Javas AWT and Swing text components.
VietIME uses the input method framework in the Java 2 platform (1.3 or higher) to enable the collaboration between text editing components and input methods in entering Vietnamese text with any Java runtime environment.

spell-karamba is a desktop applet for SuperKaramba that spells the typed words - letter by letter.

You can choose from deutsch, english, american, international and NATO spelling.

Installation:

Actually the installation is pretty easy:

Copy all files from the tarball into a new folder. A good choice would be $HOME/kde3/share/apps/superkaramba/themes/dwd. Thats all. You start the theme from a shell by "superkaramba spell.theme". If you have a superkaramba theme running already its even simpler. Right-click the open theme and select superkaramba - manage themes.

From there you can search for the .theme-file. Do not open any other file with the superkaramba application.

RiteOfTongue is a Firefox extension that allows you to right-click on a typed word inside a web form to check if the word is spelled correctly and get alternate suggestions if it is wrong.

Then select the word from the popup menu to change it. The words are obtained in real-time over the Internet using the dictionary service from Dict.org.

If you are running Firefox behind a firewall (or router), you might need to enable outgoing connections on port 2628 or else the menu will say "Wait..." and appear to stop working.

Python Sudoku is a text and graphical program (gtk interface) to create or resolve sudokus. Python Sudoku can also print a sudoku (1 or 4 sudokus in each page) and write a image (png, jpeg, etc) with a sudoku.

Sudoku, sometimes spelled Su Doku, is a placement puzzle, also known as Number Place in the United States.

The aim of the puzzle is to enter a numeral from 1 through 9 in each cell of a grid, most frequently a 9 x 9 grid made up of 3 x 3 subgrids (called "regions"), starting with various numerals given in some cells (the "givens").

Each row, column and region must contain only one instance of each numeral. Completing the puzzle requires patience and logical ability.

Its grid layout is reminiscent of other newspaper puzzles like crosswords and chess problems. Sudoku initially became popular in Japan in 1986 and attained international popularity in 2005.

uspell project is a spelling tester/teacher for elementary school.

uspell is a sound-card based spelling tester.

The words to be spelled are spoken aloud by the computers sound hardware and the user is then prompted to spell the word via the keyboard.

To set up the rewards: make a directory, call it $base. Then "uspell -set $base", and dictate congratulatory statements for reward1 .. reward9 (or fewer).

I suggest parents or teacher perform this step, so the voice for the reward is not the same as the voice for the words. My list of rewards is pretty simple ("Hooray", "Good job", "Congratulations", "Atta-boy"). A final closing remark (like "You did it, thats the end") can be put in $base/reward-end.raw. Configure $base below to match your choice $base.

I expect the child him/her self to dictate the spelling words. "uspell -set unit_name", and it will give instructions from there. It may take some practice to
pause the right amount of time between hitting and saying the word. A *nix guru may be helpful cleaning up messes.

I expect the child himself/herself to dictate the words, and someone else to dictate the rewards, so there is an additional distinction between the words to type, and the rewards.

mod_auth_cookie_dbm is a session authentication/expiration using (cryptographically strong) cookies. Cookie-to-username mapping with DBM database.

It was devised as a better replacement for the "Basic" authentication components that ship with Apache.

Classic "Basic" authentication has some downsides:

- Username and password are shipped across the net with every request.
- There is no concept of a "session" (nor encores, such as timeouts and automatic logout)

This module

1. checks requests for a cookie, named in the CookieDBMAuthCookieName configuration directive.

2. If found, the cookie value is looked up in a DBM database, named in the CookieDBMAuthFile directive.
If the lookup fails, a redirect is made to a page specified in the CookieDBMAuthFailureURL directive.

3. The DBM entry is expected to contain a username and optionally an expiry time. Fields are colon-separated, the expiry time is a spelled-out integer (the field gets passed to strtol()) representing the time_t
If valid, the username is taped onto the request, thus "emulating" Basic authentication.
If expired, redirect to the CookieDBMAuthFailureURL.

The CookieDBMAuthFailureURL typically points at a "login page" CGI script. This program, after checking the users credentials, should make up a cookie value (preferably a long, cryptographically strong random string), enter it in the dbm file, and pass it to the browser. It might also update an AuthUserFile or AuthDBMUserFile database on the fly.
