dbackup 1.1.0
dbackup is a disk-based client-server backup system for Linux or other UNIX systems. more>>
dbackup is a disk-based client-server backup system for Linux or other UNIX systems.
dbackup works on the principal that disks are cheaper and more reliable than tapes.
Backups are started by cron probably on a daily basis by the client. The client backs up individual filesystems / directories with tar and sends the result to the server, which stores them in a simple tree-based directory structure.
Restores are trivial, either by using the supplied restore client, or by simply copying the appropriate tar files off the server and uncompressing them.
Main features:
- Backup very large filesystems as long as you have the disk space
- Works with very large numbers of servers / filesystems
- No state is kept on the client, its all on the server
- Backup to multiple backup servers in round-robin
- Configuration can be global or per-server
- Authentication for client restores (optional)
- Trivial procedure for restores
- Daily / Full incremental backups
- Configurable number of days before old backup runs are deleted / archived to tape

Phex 3.2.0
Phex is a P2P filesharing client which is based on the Gnutella network. more>>
Phex is a P2P filesharing client which is based on the Gnutella network. Phex offers advanced functions and integrates all common Gnutella extensions like multi-source downloads and advanced search features.
Main features:
Phex is a FREE of spyware and adware
- Phex never containd any kind of spyware, adware or any other kind of bundled software.
Multi-plattform support
- Whether you use MAC OS X, Linux, Solaris, or Windows Phex is able to run on them all. All you need is a operation system that offers a Java 1.4 Runtime Environment.
Multi-source downloads (Swarming)
- Often the file you like to download is available on different hosts. Phex will request different segment of the file from each host in parallel. After successfully downloading a segment Phex will merge it with the other segments of the file. This results in a much higher download speed. If a host is too slow the segment is split during download and given to an another host. To make sure you never run out of hosts Phex is able to find new download hosts by itself with the automatic search functionality.
Advanced configuration options
- Phex offers very advanced configuration options. Much more then many other clients can offer. Especially advanced user can configure Phex according to there needs and are able to tune and see the effect of different settings.
Passive searching and snooping for files
- With the passive search functionality Phex is able to constantly monitor the traffic that goes through the network and collect search results that match your passive search term. Also Phex snoops the traffic for new download candidates you need to finish your downloads faster. This type of searching is usefull for longtime monitoring of available files on the network.
Other features include:
- Multiple searches.
- Ultrapeer and compression technology for reduced bandwidth.
- Integrated chat.
- Browse host support.
- Bitzi metadata lookup.
- MAGMA support.
Enhancements:
- The GUI received many smaller improvements and a multitude of lesser and bigger changes happened under the hood.
- Download-side THEX integration was added, so poisoned files are no longer possible.
- The upload architecture was redesigned and a far leaner security system is used for better performance and a vastly reduced memory footprint.
- Many bugs were fixed.

PeaZip 1.9
PeaZip is an archiving application, archive/extract: 001 (raw file split/join), 7z, 7zip sfx, Bzip2, Gzip, Pea, Tar, Z, Zip. more>>
PeaZip project is an archiver tool that supports its native Pea archive format (featuring compression, split volumes, and flexible encryption and integrity check schemes) and other mainstream formats, with special focus on handling open formats.
Full support: 7Z, 7-Zip sfx, Bzip2, Gzip, PEA, split TAR and ZIP.
Browse/test/extract-only support for ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, DEB, ISO, LZH, NSIS installers, OOo files, RAR, RPM, Z.
PeaZips UI aims giving aid to the user to: edit, save and restore layout of archives (input files and folders list) to speed up definition of archiving and backup operations; save job definition, as plain text, to be used in scripts or for learning purpose; have a detailed job log after each operation.
The interface is fully skinnable (skins can be customised and saved as plain text to be re-edited as freely as possible) and uses customisable transparency.
The program doesnt need to be installed/unistalled, it can run from any path (even remote; a writeable path is recommended), however Windows version is released both as a standalone binary and as a fully automated installer/uninstaller package, allowing tight system integration to use PeaZip right from Explorer.
PeaZip acts as a graphic frontend for Pea executable (graphical) from the same Author and for Igor Pavlovs 7z executable (Myspaces 7z POSIX port under Linux), that can run in console mode or through a graphical wrapper to allow more user-friendly handling of output information.
Enhancements:
- Release 1.9 introduces several updates, new functions and interface enhancements over 1.8 series, based on feedback collected on previous 1.8 release series, featuring a substantially renewed user interface driven to a cleaner design and better usability. The layout composer and the archive browser were improved, introducing multiple selection, AZ/ZA sorting, better designed popup menus, options organized in a tabs, archive browsing navigation bar, recent archives history and many other under the hood usability improvements; see change log for a detailed description.

SYNOPSIS
use Want;

RRDTool 1.2.21 / 1.3 Beta 1
RRD is a system to store and display time-series data. more>>
RRD is the Acronym for Round Robin Database. RRD is a system to store and display time-series data (i.e. network bandwidth, machine-room temperature, server load average).
RRDTool project stores the data in a very compact way that will not expand over time, and it presents useful graphs by processing the data to enforce a certain data density.
It can be used either via simple wrapper scripts (from shell or Perl) or via frontends that poll network devices and put a friendly user interface on it.
Whats New in 1.2.21 Stable Release:
- More graph config options.
- An ABS operator for CDEF.
- Several segfaults have been fixed.
- More robust Ruby and Python extension builds.
- Netware and Win32 Makefile updates.
Whats New in 1.3 Beta 1 Development Release:
- Performance was improved with memory mapped IO, fadvise, and madvise.
- Graphing was enhanced by using cairo and pango.

File::Copy::Link 0.080

File::Copy::Link is a Perl extension for replacing a link by a copy of the linked file.
SYNOPSIS
use File::Copy::Link;
copylink file.lnk;
use File::Copy::Link qw(safecopylink);
safecopylink file.lnk;
copylink
reads the filename linked to by the argument and replaced the link with a copy of the file. It opens a filehandle to read from the link, deletes the link, and then copies the filehandle back to the link.
safecopylink
does the same as copylink but without the open-and-delete manouvre. Instead, it uses File::Spec::Link to find the target of the link and copies from there.
This module is mostly a wrapper round File::Spec::Link::linked and File::Copy::copy, the functionality is available in a command line script copylink.
