SheepShaver 2.3-0.20060514
SheepShaver is an Open Source PowerPC MacOS run-time environment. more>>
SheepShaver is an Open Source PowerPC MacOS run-time environment. SheepShaver enables you to run PowerPC Classic MacOS software on your computer, even if you are using a different operating system.
However, you still need a copy of MacOS and a PowerMacintosh ROM image to use this program. SheepShaver is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).
If you are using a PowerPC-based system, applications will run at native speeds (i.e. without any emulation involved). On other systems, SheepShaver provides the first PowerPC G4 emulator, though without MMU, to enable the execution of MacOS Classic.
Performance with the current CPU emulator using basic just-in-time (JIT) translation techniques is roughly 1/8-th of native speeds.
The following platforms are currently supported: Linux (i386, ppc, x86_64), MacOS X for ppc, Darwin, NetBSD 2.0, FreeBSD 5.3 and Windows for x86. Please note that I am pretty careless of the Windows version since I am not a Windows developer. You are heartly invited to join the effort!
NOTE: This webspace contains precompiled binaries and sources snapshots extracted from development CVS to ease testing until a formal release is available.
Main features:
- SheepShaver runs MacOS 7.5.2 thru MacOS 9.0.4
- PowerPC G4 emulation on non-PowerPC platforms, direct execution otherwise
- Copy and paste of text between MacOS and the host OS
- File exchange with the host OS via a Unix icon on the Mac desktop
- Color video display with support for run-time resolution switching
- Run-time depth switching from 1 bpp to current host depth settings
- Native QuickDraw 2D acceleration for BitBlt and FillRect operations
- CD-quality stereo sound output
- Networking: SheepShaver supports Internet and LAN networking via Ethernet and PPP with all Open Transport compatible MacOS applications
Enhancements:
- The emulator now supports up to 1 GB of Mac memory.
- SLiRP network emulation performance was improved.
- A minor bug in Native QuickDraw acceleration has been fixed.
- A crash during MacOS 9 installation has been fixed.
- A crash with the AppleShare extension has been fixed.
- Support for MacOS 7.5.3 Revision 2.2 was improved.
- The program was ported to Mac OS X for Intel.
- Ports to certain non-Free platforms were improved.

cdck 0.6.0
cdck is a simple program for verifying CD/DVD quality. more>>
cdck is a simple program for verifying CD/DVD quality. Even if all files on the disc are readable, some sectors having bad timing and could become unreadable in the future.
The tool reads a disc sector by sector, recording all reading timings, and then tells you its verdict.
cdck project can optionally write a timing table into a text file usable by gnuplot, from which graphs can be drawn.
Enhancements:
- A signed char patch for ARM, PowerPC, and s390 was merged into the main source tree.
- More verbose information about ISO9660 disks is provided.

baq 1.0
baq is an artificial intelligence bouncing ball demo. more>>
baq is an artificial intelligence bouncing ball demo. It is a spinoff of the game "Aq".
baq has a bunch of useful functions related to AI, collision detection, buffered blitting, and more.
The main reason to create this game is my love for classic style 2D games, especially breakout clones. Although the main inspiration comes from the C=64 game crackout, which is both extremely playable, as well as very funny. I have wasted countless hours playing this game, way back.
The game is mainly being developed on a Pegasos2 PowerPC computer, using Debian Linux. Also an x86 pc with Debian Linux is frequently being used.

SIMD Cross-platform headers 2004.10.26
SIMD Cross-platform headers is a cross- platform, cross-compiler, cross CPU C/C++ header collection. more>>
SIMD Cross-platform headers is a cross- platform, cross-compiler, cross CPU C/C++ header collection that aids the creation portable vectorized (SIMD) C/C++ code.
SIMD Cross-platform headerst supports (or partially supports) x86 (MMX/SSE/SSE2) GCC and MSVC, PPC Altivec GCC and CodeWarrior, ARM GCC, and software-emulated SIMD.
NOTE: Code must be 16-byte aligned. Align to 16 when allocating memory.
X86/XSCALE (Intel) vs. PowerPC/MIPS
While the PowerPC and MIPS SIMD instructions take 2 source vectors and a destination vector, the Intel platforms only take a source and destination. Example:
PPC/MIPS can do:
C = A + B
X86 can only do:
A = A + B (or A+=B)
Code written either way will work on the X86, and still be faster than 387 math, but preserving the registers takes significant overhead (Disassemble the test program for an example. The prints preserve, the disassembly test does not.) For the fastest code between systems, write your SIMD math as the X86 expects, manually preserving SIMD variables.
At least GCC for PPC doesnt seem to have any issues figuring out how to deal with a source and destination memory address being the same.
Enhancements:
- Created file with some i386, GCC dialect

XORP is the eXtensible Open Router Platform, an open- source router software stack.
The goal is to develop a software router platform that is stable and fully featured enough for production use, and flexible and extensible enough to enable network research.
XORP project implements routing protocols for IPv4 and IPv6 and a unified means to configure them.
Enhancements:
- This release implements OSPFv3 (draft-ietf-ospf-ospfv3-update-14.txt).
- It also contains numerous bugfixes and cross-compilation support for various processors: IA-64, MIPS (Broadcom for Linksys WRT54G), PowerPC-603, Sparc64, and XScale. The new supported systems are: DragonFlyBSD 1.8, FreeBSD 6.2, Linux Fedora Core6, Linux Debian 3.1 (sarge), NetBSD 3.1, and OpenBSD 4.0.
