KungFu DVD Ripper 0.2.3

KungFu DVD Ripper 0.2.3

KungFu DVD Ripper is a GStreamer based DVD ripper. more>>
KungFu DVD Ripper is a GStreamer based DVD ripper.

KungFu creates backups of your DVDs, saving them as .oggs on your hard drive. It encodes the backup using patent-free codecs, Theora for video and Vorbis for audio.

KungFu is not designed for producing backups that fit within a certain file size (say, for burning onto CD); instead, it is designed to produce backups of consistent quality while maintaining the lowest average file size possible (for building a video library on your hard drive).

Solaris packaging tools 1.2.1

Solaris packaging tools 1.2.1

PkgTools are a set of utilities which are used to aid in the building of native Solaris packages. more>>
PkgTools are a set of utilities which are used to aid in the building of native Solaris packages. There are five separate utilities which are used to build packages, prepare a chroot() environment to install software into prior to building a package, copy package control scripts into place, a tool to aid in the starting of new projects, and a tool to check that packages are installed correctly.

Currently there are four tools in this set:

build-pkg
This is used to actually build the Solaris package, calling chroot-install if required.
chroot-install
A utility which creates an environment suitable for calling chroot() on and allowing the user to install software into it.
proj-template
A utility which asks the user questions and then copies files and directories from a specified template directory and performs macro expansion on them. This is designed to aid in the initial setup of the home directory of a new project.
simple-proj
A very similar utility to proj-template. However it does not ask questions and only deals with the setting up of a simple InstallPackage. This is useful when dealing with 3rd party software which just needs to have a number of package control scripts put into the package.
check-pkg
A utility which can be used to check to see if packages are installed correctly. It can also be given a pathname to check on which packages said pathname is a part of.

It should be noted that simple-proj is really proj-template wearing a different hat.

QuickRip is a basic DVD ripper for GNU/Linux (and other UNIX variants, though none have been tested) written in Python and PyQt.
Whilst it lacks options to fine-tune how you want to rip your DVD, it makes ripping quick and easy, and so is ideal for those who arent bothered about framerates, clipping, and other (in my experience) unecessary options.
Please see the homepage for more information, to submit bugs, feature requests and to discuss its development.
Enhancements:
- The base system uses threads when running external programs
- Thse base system should be far more reliable, as well as easier to debug and easier to extend
- The CLI has been similarly rewritten o There is now a logging system to help the user and developers

Thoggen 0.6.0

Thoggen 0.6.0

Thoggen is a DVD backup utility (DVD ripper). more>>
Thoggen project is a DVD backup utility (DVD ripper) for Linux, based on GStreamer and Gtk+.
Note: Thoggen is still beta software, but should work fine nevertheless. Make sure you check the list of known issues.
Thoggen is designed to be easy and straight-forward to use. It attempts to hide the complexity many other transcoding tools expose and tries to offer sensible defaults that work okay for most people most of the time.
Main features:
- Easy to use, with a nice graphical user interface (GUI)
- Supports title preview, picture cropping, and picture resizing.
- Language Selection for audio track (no subtitle support yet though)
- Encodes into Ogg/Theora video
- Can encode from local directory with video DVD files
- Based on the GStreamer multimedia framework, which makes it fairly easy to add additional encoding formats/codecs in future.
Supported formats:
Ogg/Theora:- Theora video with Vorbis audio in an Ogg container (in case you have not heard of Theora before: it is basically what Vorbis is for audio - a patent-free, royalty-free codec that can be implemented by anone and is supported by recent versions of all major media players on all major platforms).
AVI/divx/mpeg4:- More formats, like MPEG4/divx/xvid in AVI etc., will be added once the core functionality has been finished and works reliably.
Thoggen is licensed under the GNU General Public license (GPL).

Video::DVDRip 0.98.6

Video::DVDRip 0.98.6

Video::DVDRip is a GUI for copying DVDs, based on an open Low Level API. more>>
Video::DVDRip is a GUI for copying DVDs, based on an open Low Level API.

This Perl module consists currently of two major components:

1. A low level OO style API for ripping and transcoding DVD video, which is based on Thomas Oestreichs program transcode, a Linux Video Stream Processing Tool. This API is currently well undocumented.

2. A Gtk+ based Perl program called dvd::rip which provides a nice GUI to control all necessary steps from ripping, adjusting all parameters and transcoding the video to the format you desire.

The distribution name is derived from the Perl namespace it occupies:

Video::DVDRip. Although the DVD Ripper GUI is called dvd::rip, because its shorter and easier to pronounce (if you omit the colons...)

WPKG 0.9.10

WPKG 0.9.10

WPKG is a Samba add-on that will help distribute software to many clients. more>>
WPKG is an automated software deployment, upgrade and removal script for Windows.
WPKG can be used to push/pull software packages, such as Service Packs, hotfixes, or program installations from a central server (for example, Samba) to a number of workstations.
It can run as a service to install software in the background, without user interaction.
It can install MSI, InstallShield, PackagefortheWeb etc. packages, and all other packages using repackaging or some batch scripting (see FAQ for details).
Package definitions are stored in packages.xml, profile definitions in profiles.xml, and hostnames and associated profiles in hosts.xml.
A package is a software entity that can be installed and removed by running a series of command lines. All of those commands must be successful, either by returning a zero exit code, or by returning an exit code listed for the command.
The system keeps track of what versions of what packages are currently installed and what version are available in order to decide weither to install, remove, or upgrade a package.
Profiles denote a certain "class" of workstations, such as departments. Profiles can depend on other profiles, the end result being they inherit all the dependent packages.
Installation consists of copying the wpkg.js, packages.xml, profiles.xml and hosts.xml files to a centralized folder on a file server. The administrator would then define his/her packages in packages.xml, and then define his/her profile structure in profiles.xml. Each workstation would need to be configured to run the wpkg.js command in order to install/update/remove packages from itself.
Logs are reported to the Windows Event Log. These can be retrieved in anyway appropiate for the network.
If you dont like editing XML files by hand, you can use a WPKG web interface.
Considering you are running Samba on Linux, *BSD, Unix or any other Unix-like system, you might have noticed that Windows-administraton things like Active Directory, Group Policies / GPO / Group Policy Objects, RIS, SUS, IntelliMirror, SMS etc. are not available on these platforms.
Software installation / upgrade, or distributing / deploying software to many Windows clients can become painful without some of these Windows-tools.
Once its installed on the clients, and its configuration is kept on a central fileserver (like Samba), you can easily deploy software / packages / changes etc. to many Windows clients - without the need of doing this manually, that is going from one workstation to another.
You just configure the software which should be installed on a given machine or a group of machines - and next time these Windows workstations are booted, the software you specified is installed automatically.
Enhancements:
- fixed bug 8
- fixed bug 28
- fixed bug 29
- fixed bug 31
- fixed reboot="true" doesnt work for upgrade and remove cmd
- lots of code cleanup
Thanks to Falko Trojahn and Gordon Klimm for patches

Aptsh 0.0.7

Aptsh 0.0.7

Aptsh is a pseudo-shell for systems with the APT package managing tool. more>>
Aptsh is a pseudo-shell for systems with Apt package managing tool. Aptsh is similar to AptShell from AptRpm, but it works not only with AptRpm (actually, its being developed with Debians Apt).
Also, its inspired by The Poldek from PLD. But, what does it exactly do? Well, if you use Apt, you should know the situation - search for a package with apt-cache and copy its name to apt-get, repeat. And, you probably do not enjoy the situation before last execution of apt-get.
If so, consider using aptsh - it offers that cute TAB completion which you always use while unix-shelling. Its smart enough to decide whether youre trying to remove or install/upgrade a package, and doesnt suggests you to remove your Gnome since you are a KDE maniac who has never seen (and never installed) that ugly Gnome.
In short: a tool which makes life easier, although its not necessary.
You may find few similarities between Aptsh and things like Wajig or Feta. Yes, its the same sort of applications.
Enhancements:
- A bug which may have caused strange behavior of the orphans-* commands on some architectures (i.e. ppc) was fixed.
- A bug in the rls and ls commands was fixed: if a given argument matched files in the current directory (wildcard), then the names of these files were used instead of typed text in some shells.
- Aptsh can be run with commands as program arguments.
- Many minor bugs were fixed, and many minor features were added.
- Many internal improvements were done, and the code seems cleaner now.

Test-AutoBuild 1.2.0

Test-AutoBuild 1.2.0

Test-AutoBuild is a framework for performing continuous, unattended, automated software builds. more>>
Test-AutoBuild is a framework for performing continuous, unattended, automated software builds.
Test-AutoBuild pulls code from source control repositories (CVS, Perforce, and GNU Arch are currently supported), calculates inter-module dependencies, builds each module, and then generates HTML status pages, copies binary packages to Web/FTP server roots, and sends email status alerts. It is written with flexibility and extensibility in mind to make it easy to integrate with a wide range of development tools and languages.
Enhancements:
- The backend build engine has been refactored into a modular workflow engine.
- Support for Mercurial SCM repos has been added, and existing SCM implementations extended to allow extraction of changelogs.
- Performance and scalability are improved by hard linking files instead of copying.
- Error reporting and logging has been enhanced to make debugging of crashes/problems simpler.
- Major work has been done on documentating the tools, configuration file format, and developer APIs.
- The coverage of the test suite has been increased to cover a large portion of the critical code sub-systems.

BoboMail 0.6pre1

BoboMail 0.6pre1

BoboMail is a so called webmail application, which provides mail access through a web interface. more>>
BoboMail is a so called webmail application, which provides mail access through a web interface.
It is distributed under the GNU GPL. See COPYING in the package or go to http://www.gnu.org for details.
The first version of BoboMail was used for about a year and a half in the intranet of the Computer Club Ostfriesland (one of Germanys largest computer clubs, see http://www.cco-ev.de if you understand German). I wrote my own webmailer, because at that time only some Perl scripts were available, which were not easy to customize (e.g. German interface).
The name of BoboMail comes from former name of ZPublisher, a cgi framework used by the developer.
I hope you will find BoboMail usefull. Please send complaints (e.g. spelling mistakes), criticism, security advices, suggestions, praises and everything else to ich@henning-schroeder.de or visit me (Henning) on my personal webpage at http://www.henning-schroeder.de/en Important acknowledgement: This product includes software developed by Digital Creations for use in the Z Object Publishing Environment (htt://www.zope.org).
The BoboMail distribution contains Zopes ZPublisher and ZTemplates. These compoments underly the Zope Public License (ZPL). They are packages with BoboMail for easier installation. BoboMail is hosted at Sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net). If you are interested in BoboMail development please visit the its webpage at http://bobomail.sourceforge.net Besides I want to make BoboMail even more modular so that my stuff can be used for a mailinglist archiver or a web-forum. Attention: I really would like to know where you will use BoboMail. Please tell me your success stories
Main features:
- read, write, reply, forward, delete and bounce messages
- send and receive attachments
- decodes quoted-printable, base64 and uuencoded
- handles HTML-mails properly (with inline images!)
- does not need Javascript
- direct support for the following MIME types: message/rfc822, message/delivery-status, multipart/alternative, multipart/mixed, multipart/report, multipart/related, multipart/digest, text/plain, text/html, text/x-vcard, image/jpeg, text/rfc822-headers, image/png, image/x-xpixmap, image/gif
- works with POP3-servers and partially IMAP4 (spool-files under development)
- easy to modify and customize through HTML-templates
- modular design provides easy interface for other authentication methods and mail protocols
- provides optionally its own fast multithreading webserver (BoboMailHTTPD)
- multi-lingual support (i18n) - currently English, Brazilian Portuguese, Finish, Spanish and German
- and its 100% Python
Enhancements:
- with the help from Ken Causey the annoying first-login-bug is fixed now :-)
- IMAP support for uw-imapd, expects additional folders in $HOME/Mail
- now runs with Python 2.x without problems
- new look, using nicer template inspired by zope.org
- and some other small bug fixes (see cvs if you like)
