Free livecd software for linux

GParted LiveCD is a linux distribution based on Gnome Partition Editor.
It uses libparted to detect and manipulate devices and partitiontables while several (optional) filesystemtools provide support for filesystems not included in libparted.
These optional packages will be detected at runtime and dont require a rebuild of GParted.
GParted is written in C++ and uses gtkmm as Graphical Toolkit. The general approach is to keep the GUI as simple as possible. Thats why i try to conform to the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines.
GParted comes under the terms of the General Public License.

LG3D LiveCD is a SLAX based LiveCD containing Project Looking Glass 3D as desktop.

SchoolTool Hoary LiveCD is an [i386] Ubuntu Hoary LiveCD with SchoolTool 0.11.1 and SchoolBell 1.2.1 installed.

This release is not of the preferred maturity, which means that it is probably still in development.

SchoolTool and SchoolBell are usually easy to install on Linux, Windows or Macintosh computers, but if youve got a high speed internet connection and a CD burner, the easist method may be one of these bootable LiveCDs.

ffsearch-LiveCD is a modified Knoppix-Linux with Fast File Search running on top of it. This way, no installation is required!

You can download an Iso, burn it on CD, put the disc in you CD-drive and boot it up. It crawls the net for SMB and FTP shares and provides you with a web interface for searching these files.

NetBSD LiveCD is a bootable ISO image contains NetBSD 3.99.7 and allows you to boot NetBSD/i386 -current without having to install to a hard disk.

The LiveCD was initially intended to be a rescue cdrom, but is now capable of much more.

The default desktop environment is KDE. But there is another window manager available: pekwm.

The LiveCD will automatically try to obtain an IP address via DHCP. If that fails, you must manually configure your network settings. For information on this, please see the NetBSD Guide.

There are two users: root and user. The password for both is NetBSD. If you are logged in as user, you can use sudo(8).

Dartmouth OpenCA-LiveCD project is an KNOPPIX remaster.

Dartmouth OpenCA-LiveCD is a bootable CD with an installation script to help people have an OpenCA Certificate Authority ready for testing in just a few minutes.

This CD works on most Intel architecture PCs regardless of what operating system is installed on its hard disk and even without any hard disk installed. It will not modify any contents of your hard disk unless you specifically ask it to do so.

On boot, you will be asked to provide your Organization, Location (state), and the email address of the OpenCA administrator. Default values will be used if no answers are provided.

UPC LiveCD is a UPC-enabled Linux operating system on a CD-ROM disc. It runs directly from the CD without installing. I created it to demonstrate UPC programming on the SC2005 conference.
With UPC LiveCD, you can try out UPC programming without the need of a multiprocessor environment. UPC LiveCD boots your laptop or workstation from a CD-ROM and runs in the memory only.
It does not have any side effects to the installed system on your computer. UPC LiveCD is based on the SLAX project. The current release contains demo versions of MuPC V1.1.2 and GCC UPC V3.4.4.1.
How to use:
- Burn the image on a blank CD.
- Read the README on the CD.
- Boot your computer from the CD. You may need to modify your BIOS settings to set CD-ROM as the first boot device.
- The system loads and starts KDE automatically. MuPC and GCC UPC are ready to use.
- When you are done, logout. The CD automatically ejects.
