TVProg 0.6.1
TVProg project is a TV guide software. more>>
TVProg is TV guide software running as a Web server application. It fetches the TV guide source from tvmovie.de and stores it in a MySQL database.
TV shows can be browsed online. Theres also a vcr wrapper script that, running as a cron job, is able to record scheduled tv shows in DivX.
The TVProg package contains a script "list.cgi" that is run as a CGI script to browse the tv guide. You can select channels, do searches or look what is running right now. Theres a detail view for every single tv show.
Cookies are supported for keeping the view properties while browsing.
A cron job script, "vcrwrapper.pl", acts as a wrapper for vcr. Run it every minute and you will have a nice frontend for vcr: In the tv show detail view you can click the record link to schedule it for recording.
There is also a "profile" section where users can subscribe to receive daily tvshow mailings. Also, a user may activate a search, done by a cron job, and receive the search results via email.
This way you can look for a special tvshow or movie without having to look into the listings every day.

MythTV 0.21 is launched as a beneficial as well as reliable suite of programs that allow you to build the mythical home media convergence box on your own using Open Source software and operating systems.
MythTV is a project aiming to create a homebrew set-top box. The end goal is to have a nice interface for watching TV, recording shows, listening to music, etc., all displayed on a TV and controlled by a remote.
Major Features:
- Basic live-tv functionality. Pause/Fast Forward/Rewind \"live\" TV.
- Support for multiple tuner cards and multiple simultaneous recordings.
- Distributed architecture allowing multiple recording machines and multiple playback machines on the same network, completely transparent to the user.
- Compresses video in software using rtjpeg (from Nuppelvideo) or mpeg4 (from libavcodec). Full support for Hardware MPEG-2 encoder cards (Hauppauge PVR-250 / PVR-350). Preliminary support for DVB cards and the new pcHDTV tuner card.
- Support for the (very nice looking) hardware MPEG-2 decoder and TV out present on the Hauppauge PVR-350.
- Completely automatic commercial detection/skipping
- Grabs program information using xmltv.
- A fully themeable menu to tie it all together.
- The television portion allows you to do the following:
- You may pause, fast-forward and rewind live Television.
- You may install multiple video capture cards to record more than one program at a time.
- You can have multiple servers, each with multiple capture cards in them. All servers are centrally managed and all programs are scheduled by the Master backend.
- You can have multiple clients (called \"frontends\" in MythTV parlance), each with a common view of all available programs. Any client can watch any program that was recorded by any of the servers. Clients can be diskless and controlled entirely by a remote control.
- You may use any combination of standard analog capture card, MPEG-2, MJPEG, DVB or HDTV capture devices. With appropriate hardware, MythTV can control set top boxes, often found in digital cable and satellite TV systems.
- Program Guide Data in North America is downloaded from Zap2It.com, a subsidiary of Tribune Media Services. This free service is called DataDirect, and provides MythTV almost two weeks of scheduling information. Program Guide Data in other countries is obtained using XMLTV. MythTV uses this information to create a schedule that maximizes the number of programs that can be recorded if you dont have enough tuners.
- Other modules in MythTV include:
- MythGallery, a picture-viewing application
- MythVideo, a media-viewer for content not created within MythTV
- MythDVD, a DVD viewer / ripper
- MythMusic, a music playing / ripping application which supports MP3 and FLAC
- MythGame
- MythWeather
- MythNews, a RSS news grabber
- MythBrowser, a web browser
- MythWeb, which allows you to control your MythTV system using a web browser. With MythWeb, you can schedule recordings, delete files, change keybindings and more. With proper security, you may even schedule a program over the Internet and have it immediately acted on by the scheduler.
- MythPhone, phone and videophone using SIP.
Enhancements:
- New release! Its been quite a while, so theres lots of new stuff. Notably: autodiscovery (less manual configuration of new frontends), storage groups (no need for LVM/etc), support for multiple recordings on one DVB/ATSC multiplex, a couple new plugins, some new deinterlacing/video display options, and many, many other things.
nextShows 2.0.1
nextShows is a desktop applet for SuperKaramba that displays your favorite TV shows schedule. more>>
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: If youre using the previous version (1.0.0) you *MUST* remove your previous configuration/cache files or chances are nextShows 2.0.0 wont behave correctly.
Just do ...
$ rm -rf ~/.superkaramba/nextShows
... and everything should be sane enough for you to run this new version !
HISTORY:
I originally wrote this widget for myself and a couple of friends. In fact I didnt plan to release it publicly but some guys convinced me to do so. There were a bunch of releases before the first public release (which I decided to number v1.0.0 since it seemed stable enough).
Between the 1.0.0 and 2.0.0 releases, most parts of the code were fully rewritten and the project also found a new home (http://code.google.com/p/nextshows/) where you can also fetch the latest development version through SVN.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
1) When the widget if fully running you can left-click on the column entitled "When?" to change the way of displaying past/remaining days.
2) When left-clicking on a show name/title, the episode description will open on your browser.
3) You can change various nextShows parameters by right-clicking on the widget and selecting "Configure Theme" -> "Configure..."
