Vortaro 1.0

Vortaro 1.0

Vortaro is an Esperanto Dictionary and Parser. more>>
Vortaro is an Esperanto Dictionary and Parser.

Ive been working on a simple Esperanto dictionary, and this is the first release of it. It is licensed under the GPL. It was written in C++ using the QT4 GUI toolkit and it uses an embedded SQLite database to store the vocabulary words.

The vocabulary database currently contains only the entries from "Universala Vortaro ", the original Esperanto dictionary published by L. L. Zamenhof at the end of the 1800s. I plan to add more roots later on, but I havent gotten to it yet. However, the dictionary is available in six languages: Esperanto, French, English, German, Russian, and Polish.

The "Esperanto Parser" can break a word down into its root and affixes. In the future it will work on a whole sentence, but this is what I have so far.

Since these are written as pure QT4 apps, they should compile fine on Linux, Windows, or Mac OS X. For now I only have a Windows installer, but I plan on producing a Linux and Mac OS X version once I have the time.

Installation:

To compile from source:

Uncompress the archive
cd to one of the source directories
Run qmake
Run make
Run make install

fonty-rg 0.5

fonty-rg 0.5

fonty-rg is a set of fonts for the Linux console. more>>
fonty-rg project is a set of fonts for the Linux console.

LatCyrGr-16.psf is font containing most of ISO Latin characters, lot of cyrillic chars, lot of greek chars, and some punctuation. It is good for unicode linux console. This is 512 character font, means that you loose bold colour on linux console, unless you are using framebuffer.

chavo.psf is font containing lot of ISO-8859-2 repertoire, some additional ISO-8859-1 characters, Russian cyrillic characters and special Esperanto characters. It was specifically created to cover Czech, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian, Russian, German, Esperanto. Of course, it accidentally covers much wider range.

Good as a console font if you want to retain bold colours (and do not need some ISO-8859-1 characters - there was simply not enough space for them).

Usage

To build fonts: run build.sh script.
To modify fonts: edit files in source/ directory.
To add new charsets: add *.txt file into charsets/ directory.

To use fonts: there are two small scripts provided, iso and uni.
iso takes as an argument number of ISO-8859 encoding, switching console font into font for that encoding, and uni switches console into unicode mode, using big unicode font. See manpages for details.

Getleft for Linux 1.2

Getleft for Linux 1.2

Getleft is supposed to download complete Web sites for Linux. more>> A GetRight substitute, I have seen in Usenet that some people seem to think so, while I get a big ego boost from reading it, the fact remains it isnt.
If you came here searching for a Linux answer to GetRight, look for KGet part of the Kde project or Downloader for X for Gnome. (But please, give Getleft a try)
Features:
-While it goes, it changes the original pages, all the links get changed to relative links, so that you can surf the site in your hard disk without those pesky absolute links.
-Limited Ftp support, it will download the files but not recursively.
-Resumes downloading if interrupted.
-Filters not to download certain kind of files.
-You can get a site map before downloading.
-Getleft can follow links to external sites.
-Multilingual support, at present Getleft supports Dutch, English, Esperanto, German, French, Italian, Polish, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish and Spanish.
-If you would like Getleft to support your own language, please check this.
Some others not worth mentioning.

KVortaro 0.0.1

KVortaro 0.0.1

KVortaro translates words from one language into another one. more>>
KVortaro translates words from one language into another one.

The word can be selected via different methods:

* by selecting (highligthing) with the mouse-pointer (Left-Mouse-Button-Pressed and track)
* by copying the word into the clipboard (Ctrl + C)
* by klicking onto a word anywhere on the desktop (e.g. ALT + Rigth-Mouse button)

A small windows pops-up close to the mouse-pointer and shows the translation.

This project ist started because currently no fullfeatured, simple to use program exists for Linux/KDE.

Indeed some programs already exist, which do support nice features, but no program provides the following feature: klicking somewhere at the desktop onto a word, then doing optical character recognition (OCR), then popping-up a small window and showing the translation.

With the first release of KVortaro dictionaries for English-German and German-Esperanto are included. These dictionaries are simple text-files. There are plans to use a more sophisticated file-format later.
