Free embedded images software for linux

Imagero Reader is a Java library for reading image files. Supported file types include BMP, GIF, TIFF, PNG, JNG, MNG, JPEG (including 12-bit grey), PSD, PBM, PGM, PPM, TGA, EPS, EPSI, and EPSF.
The following RAW file types are also supported, at least partially: MRW, CRW, NEF, DCR, and DNG. It can read thumbnails, read metadata (IPTC, EXIF, and XMP), edit metadata, get image width and height, get the number of images contained in a file, define an area to read, add a ProgressListener, choose an image channel to read, set a scale factor, set subsampling (JPEG only), and read an image (or channel) directly into an array.
Supported file types are:
- BMP 1, 4, 8, 16, 24 and 32 bit uncompressed; 4 and 8 bit compressed

- Full resolution image cant be yet read, but thumbnail, preview and metadata can be read.

Whats New in 1.9.6 Stable Release:
- The EPS parser was partially rewritten and made more generic and easy to use.
- It may be used now to parse nearly every kind of data (as a programmable parser).
- Thumbnails are read from AI (Illustrator) files.
- Disc based image caching was implemented (but is beta).
- New methods were added to TiffUtils: insert IFDEntry, remove IFDEntry, and create and insert IFDEntry with IPTC data.
- Two utility classes were added for creating and adding EXIF and GPS data to TIFF images.
- An important bug in XMPApp1 concerning wrong field length was fixed.
Whats New in 2.0.0 RC3 Development Release:
- It is possible to write TIFF images now. TiffWriter can currently write RGB, ARGB, CMYK, and grayscale (8 bit) images.
- Supported compression schemes are uncompressed, PackBits, and ZIP.
- Bugfixes were made.

ImageConverter is able to convert one image type (example:gif) to another type (example:jpeg).

ImageConverter application uses ImageMagick to conver the images!

wavextract is a program for extracting embedded audio data from JPEG images. wavextract project is useful if you have a digital camera that can record audio notes and embed them in photos (e.g. HP, Kodak, Fujifilm, Canon, etc.)

Wavextract is written in Python and is tested on Linux (but it should probably
work also on other operating systems).

You must have Python 2.4 (maybe it will work also with Python 2.3, but I didnt
test it) and Python Imaging Library (PIL) installed.

Kolombo is a superkaramba theme that provide a way to embed an image identified by an url in your widget.

The image is fetched periodically, and stored in a configurable size local repository. Optionally the image can be processes before to be stored in the repository by a user script.

It is possible to browse the image repository using the mouse wheel as well a navigation toolbar.

The image informations are embedded in the .theme file.

This framework is useful to insert in your widget images that change in regular basis as satellite images or webcam images.

In order to use this framework in your theme some steps are required:

1- rename kolombo.theme and kolombo.py in .theme and .py
2- open .py and replace ThemeID="kolombo" with ThemeID=" "
3- in theme file, be sure not to set the same id attribute value if more than one KOLOMBO section are used, note that id value is used as part of work dir

Notes: curl and imagemagik (at least convert executable) must be installed on your system.

Embedded Slackware is a software development kit for the automated creation of bootable embedded systems based on Slackware and Busybox. The focus is on i486 and ARM systems that use compact flash devices (handhelds and PC104 type boards). The distribution consists of a primary archive with tools, scripts, and documentation, and additional archives for the i486 and PXA250 binary components.

libwpd is a library designed to help process WordPerfect documents.
libwpd exposes a simple callback-based API (similar to SAX), allowing it to be easily plugged into any C or C++ application.
It is used by recent versions of AbiWord and OpenOffice.org to provide WordPerfect file import.

base64img provides a PHP script which encodes images as text.
base64img.php base64-encodes images and generates PHP code that represents the image. This makes it possible to embed an image inside a PHP script.
This enables you to create an entire Web site with images, using only a PHP script contained within a single file.
The script itself is an example of how this works.
Install:
- Install this script in any directory on your webserver and point your webbrowser to it.
Enhancements:
- The code was changed so that it works on systems where PHPs globals are turned off.
