Excalibur 4.3
Excalibur is an open source software project of The Apache Software Foundation. more>>
Excalibur is an open source software project of The Apache Software Foundation. Our primary product is a lightweight, embeddable Inversion of Control container named Fortress that is written in java.
Inversion of control, also known as the hollywood principle ("dont call us, well call you"), is a simple but powerful concept. The idea is that we dont "wire up" all the pieces that make up an application (the "components") by writing lots of this-component-uses-that-one-like-so code, nor do we use some kind of lookup directory (like JNDI, for example) where each component decides what components to interact with itself. Instead, we instruct a smart piece of software, the container, to tell the components how to interact.
Fortress (and also its predecessor, "ECM") is such a container. It is lightweight, by which we mean that it doesnt need a lot of resources, take a lot of disk or memory, or impose all sorts of demands on its environment. Fortress is also embeddable, by which we mean that you can use fortress inside just about every java environment. More concretely, you can use it as the basis of a large standalone development platform (like the Keel project), at the core of a servlet-based web application (like Cocoon) or even as the basis of a GUI application (like GuiApp).
Fortress knows how to manage components that have been developed using a rigid lifecycle contract called Avalon-Framework. In the next upcoming release, fortress will also be able to manage ordinary javabeans, and support for other kinds of Inversion of Control are planned.
Besides providing fortress, excalibur also provides a small library of very useful components. We also distribute some of the libraries used to build fortress (and some other containers) seperately. This selection of libraries is called containerkit.
So why is excalibur an interesting project?
Heres a few partial answers.
good code. Code that comes from the mature avalon project (everything that used to be branded as "Avalon Excalibur" and "Avalon Fortress"). This includes two lightweight Inversion of Control containers. One of these powers, among other things, Cocoon. The other ("fortress") is the basis of projects like Keel. Excalibur also includes powerful and mature reusable "components" and "libraries", handling tasks ranging from thread management to component pooling to (URI-and-similar-) source resolving.
smart developers. Most of these people are or have been active in the avalon project in various roles. Several of them are apache members. Together they have loads and loads experience under their belts related to inversion of control development. In fact, Im confident to say this list includes some of the biggest experts on inversion-of-control-style container development.
exciting community. Several open source and commercial projects (both at apache and elsewhere) depend on and contribute to the excalibur project. A strong team of enthousiastic developers (with strong ties to several other projects in the same problem domain) has various big and small plans with excalibur. One of the leading open source organisations in the world, The Apache Software Foundation, is hosting the project, providing insight, advice, infrastructure, legal backing, a time- and battle-proven development process, and much more.

Databrid 1.3
Databrid is a powerful tool that provides easy access to data and manipulation of data within an Oracle or MySql database. more>>
Databrid is a browsing, retrieval and manipulation tool designed for the novice to the expert user. Databrid works on MySql and Oracle Database (versions 8 and above although not all functionality in the Browser is available for the lower versions). The core functionality of Databrid revolves around the tabbed areas within the Databrid application. The four main tabs in the main screen of Databrid are: SQL Editor, Browser, File and Jobs.
## SQL EDITOR ##
The SQL Editor tab allows you to write and run SQL and PLSQL. The tab provides the ability to use one of more sql autocompletion, word and syntax highlighting editors with automatic case adjustment for keywords. Provided with each editor is a table for displaying SQL query results and a text output area to display DBMS_Output output. Jobs can be run in the background allowing for the execution of multiple statements at any given time.
## BROWSER ##
The Browser tab allows the you to browse various parts of the database schema. The browsing is done via a particular schema user and displays information on tables, views, sequences etc. Features include the generation of database creation statements for tables, views etc, browsing table or view data, truncating tables, etc.
## FILE ##
The File tab allows you work with a CSV (comma delimited text file) and the database without having to load the CSV into the database. This tab has two areas that functionality: CSV Update and Database Update. CSV Update allows you to add additional columns to a CSV using a Select statement, including binding CSV column values to the Select statement. Database Update allows you to update the database using insert, updates, deletes or PLSql by binding the CSV column values into your statement.
## JOBS ##
This tab allows you to view which jobs are currently running or have finished. Jobs that are running can also be stopped.

The Java Apache Mail Enterprise Server (a.k.a. Apache James) is a 100% pure Java SMTP and POP3 Mail server and NNTP News server. It is designed James to be a complete and portable enterprise mail engine solution based on currently available open protocols.
James is also a mail application platform. We have developed a Java API to let you write Java code to process emails that we call the mailet API. A mailet can generate an automatic reply, update a database, prevent spam, build a message archive, or whatever you can imagine. A matcher determines whether your mailet should process an email in the server. The James project hosts the Mailet API, and James provides an implementation of this mail application platform API.
James is based on the Apache Avalon application framework, which was a product of the Apache Avalon project.
James requires Java 1.4 (For further information you may want to search the web, our dev and user mail archives or our wiki).
Main features:
- SMTP server
- Mailet Engine
- FileSystem mailboxes/spool
- RDBMS mailboxes/spool
- POP3 server
- RDBMS

CSSTidy 1.3
CSSTidy is an opensource CSS parser and optimizer. more>>
CSSTidy is an opensource CSS parser and optimizer. The project is available as executeable file (available for Windows, Linux and OSX) which can be controlled per command line and as PHP script (both with almost the same functionality).
In opposite to most other CSS parsers, no regular expressions are used and thus CSSTidy has full CSS2 support and a higher reliability.
Main features:
- colours like "black" or rgb(0,0,0) are converted to #000000 or rather #000 if possible. Some hex-codes are replaced by their colour names if they are shorter.
- a{property:x;property:y;} becomes a{property:y;} (all duplicate properties are merged)
- margin:1px 1px 1px 1px; becomes margin:1px;
- margin:0px; becomes margin:0;
- a{margin-top:10px; margin-bottom:10px; margin-left:10px; margin-right:10px;} becomes a{margin:10px;}
- margin:010.0px; becomes margin:10px;
- all unnecessary whitespace is removed, depending on the compression-level
- all background-properties are merged
- all comments are removed
- the last semicolon in every block can be removed
- missing semicolons are added, incorrect newlines in strings are fixed, missing units are added, bad colors (and color names) are fixed
- property:value ! important; becomes property:value !important.
Why optimise?
If you optimise your CSS code you have faster loading pages and lower traffic costs. So both you and your visitors benefit from an optimisation. If you are interested in a faster loading webpage, websiteoptimization.com might also be an interesting resource.
Compression ratio
The compression ratio mostly depends on the level of whitespace-removal. Using standard whitespace-removal (which preserves the readability) the compression ratio often is 30% and more. In theory the compression ratio can be 99,99% but only very "stupid" stylesheets will allow those ratios. Also have a look at the examples.
Apart from compression
If a high compression is not important for you, you can also use CSSTidy to format or fix CSS code for a higher browser compatibility. Apart from the 4 default templates you can specify custom templates so that you can easily format a lot of CSS code using your own coding style. Other features are sorting and changing the case of selectors and properties.
Enhancements:
- Note: This is the last version of CSSTidy. If youd like continue maintaining it, let me know.
- FS#146 - Quotes
- FS#147 - Universal selector before classes, IDs and attribute selectors
- FS#150 - Wrong trasformation of a big integer value
- FS#144 ? !important rule
- FS#140: Fixing Values of Invalid properties
- [ 1745894 ] @media merge strangeness (cssTidy.exe version)
- FS#143: Save some more bytes

PhpWiki 1.3.14
PhpWiki is a WikiWikiWeb clone written in PHP. more>>
PhpWiki is a WikiWikiWeb clone written in PHP. A Wiki is a Web site where anyone can edit or create the pages through the Web browser, with no authentication.
PhpWiki works right out of the box with zero configuration, and comes with a set of default pages.
PhpWiki is useful for collaborating on documentation on a project, having freeform discussions, and easy editing and searching.
A WikiWikiWeb is a web site where anyone can edit the pages through an HTML form. Linking is done automatically on the server side; all pages are stored in a database.
This may sound rather simplistic, but a Wiki is a very unique way to collaborate on the Web.
The addictive quality of a Wiki is that making pages is as simple as making a link to them. If they dont yet exist, the page link will be followed by a hyperlinked question mark; follow that link and you can define the new page.
Enhancements:
- Fix the broken LDAP fix from 1.3.13p1
- fixed sortby with multiple pagelists changes:
- changes all themeinfo.php files, moved global to method load() to be easier derived from custom theme classes, main now calls $WikiTheme->load
- MailNotify is now silent unless DEBUG new:
- added experimental ATOM support
- added Changes and Upload button to edit
