Blue Moon 2.9

Blue Moon 2.9

Blue Moon project is a Blue Moon solitaire for Unix. more>>
Blue Moon project is a Blue Moon solitaire for Unix.
This 52-card solitaire starts with the entire deck shuffled and dealt out in four rows.
The aces are then moved to the left end of the layout, making 4 initial free spaces.
You may move to a space only the card that matches the left neighbor in suit, and is one greater in rank. Kings are high, so no cards may be placed to their right (they create dead spaces).
When no moves can be made, cards still out of sequence are reshuffled and dealt face up after the ends of the partial sequences, leaving a card space after each sequence, so that each row looks like a partial sequence followed by a space, followed by enough cards to make a row of 14.
A moments reflection will show that this game cannot take more than 13 deals.
A good score is 1-3 deals, 4-7 is average, 8 or more is poor.
Enhancements:
- Changes since the initial release have been in the packaging.

Gentoo Linux 2007.0

Gentoo Linux 2007.0

Gentoo Linux uses an enhanced BSD ports-style package system. more>>
Gentoo Linux, a special flavor of Linux that can be automatically optimized and customized for just about any application or need. Extreme configurability, performance and a top-notch user and developer community are all hallmarks of the Gentoo experience.
Thanks to a technology called Portage, Gentoo Linux can become an ideal secure server, development workstation, professional desktop, gaming system, embedded solution or something else -- whatever you need it to be. Because of its near-unlimited adaptability, we call Gentoo Linux a metadistribution.
Portage is the heart of Gentoo Linux, and performs many key functions. For one, Portage is the software distribution system for Gentoo Linux. To get the latest software for Gentoo Linux, you type one command: emerge --sync.
This command tells Portage to update your local "Portage tree" over the Internet. Your local Portage tree contains a complete collection of scripts that can be used by Portage to create and install the latest Gentoo packages. Currently, we have more than 8000 packages in our Portage tree, with new ones being added all the time.
Portage is also a package building and installation system. When you want to install a package, you type emerge packagename, at which point Portage automatically builds a custom version of the package to your exact specifications, optimizing it for your hardware and ensuring that the optional features in the package that you want are enabled -- and those you dont want arent.
Portage also keeps your system up-to-date. Typing emerge -u world -- one command -- will ensure that all the packages that you want on your system are updated automatically.
Portage will keep your Gentoo Linux system as "up-to-date" as you desire. And because of this, experienced Gentoo users dont pay too much attention to "new versions" of Gentoo Linux -- after all, the latest and greatest version of Gentoo Linux is always available by typing an emerge --sync command.
Theres no need to wait several months for a "new version" of Gentoo Linux to be released because Gentoo Linux is continually updated and refined and these improvements are immediately made available to you.
Main features:
- Support for x86, AMD64, PowerPC, UltraSparc, Alpha and MIPS processors
- LiveCD-based installation for x86, AMD64, PowerPC, UltraSparc and Alpha
- Latest stable KDE and GNOME
- Various optimized Linux kernels
- Very modern GNU development environment
- Excellent filesystem support: ReiserFS, XFS, ext3, EVMS, LVM
- Excellent hardware support: NVIDIA, Creative Labs Live! and Audigy
- Modular OpenGL and compiler sub-system (supports multiple co-existing versions)
- Clean, dependency-based system initialization scripts
- New "hardened" Gentoo security initiative
- more than 8000 packages of the latest and greatest software
- Enhanced Portage capabilities
It all began with Extra Time. Time to explore, Time to discover, Time to experiment. Thats how the creator of Gentoo, Daniel Robbins stepped into the world of Linux. He started with Debian Linux, setup a couple of applications, learnt the ins & outs of Linux and as most Linux users do, tried out a couple of distributions and settled to help out with a distro called Stampede Linux.
Soon he was into Stampede development and working on their package management system. After a period of time and due to certain issues, he moved on and decided that he would create his own distribution.
Thus, Enoch was born. Daniel wanted Enoch to be a blazingly fast distro with capabilities to completely automate the package creation and upgrading process. Soon there was a #enoch on irc.freenode.net and 10 developers helping with the distro. Over a period of time, as Enoch started improving, they felt that it needed a new name.
They called it Gentoo Linux. Around about the time Gentoo was moving to its 1.0 release, Daniel bought a new, fast machine. The motherboard model had a faulty chip that caused Linux to lock up when idle and because of that, Gentoo Linux development came to a complete halt.
Since there wasnt anything going on with Gentoo, Daniel switched to FreeBSD. He liked what he saw. Especially the "Ports" system. And he returned to the Linux world. Along with the help of other developers like Achim Gottinger, Gentoo was back on track & charging ahead.
The whole package management system was redesigned & called Portage. Gentoo has been in active development ever since, with tons of features being continually added over the years. Teams of volunteers help keep Gentoo on the bleeding edge and patched to ensure maximum security & stability.
The Gentoo development model was extended with a complete project-based approach where each project develops independently but cooperatively with other Gentoo projects. Regular meetings between the project leads (called "project managers") keep the development high-paced. The Gentoo Foundation has been created to provide financial caretaking, juridical protection and oversee general Gentoo development to keep it in line with the Social Contract.
In April 2004, Daniel decided to resign from his development responsibilities within Gentoo. We are all very grateful for all the work that Daniel has put in Gentoo and wish him the best.
Gentoo still continues to grow, evolve and improve itself - new projects are added, new developers are joining, new packages are added every day. The Gentoo developer and user community is undoubtedly Gentoos strongest value.
Enhancements:
- After several delays, the Gentoo Release Engineering team is proud to announce the release of Gentoo Linux 2007.0, code named Secret Sauce. This release includes a completely rewritten version of the Gentoo Linux Installer on the AMD64 and x86 live CD and live DVD images. It also includes GNOME 2.16.2, KDE 3.5.5, Xfce 4.4, Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3, OpenOffice.org 2.1.0, and the 2.6.19 Linux kernel. Updated hardware support is among the highlights of the x86 release. Besides the many updated office and productivity packages x86 also brings an update to glibc 2.5. On amd64 you can enjoy updated 32-bit emulation libraries improving support for many closed source applications and browser plugins.

Despeckle plug-in provides selectable filters to remove specs, scratches, or other noise in an image. more>>
Despeckle plug-in provides selectable filters to remove specs, scratches, or other "noise" in an image. The following filters are available:

Non-recursive median,
Recursive median,
Non-recursize adaptive median,
Recursive adaptive median.

Using the Despeckle Plug-In:
Figure 1 shows the despeckle plug-in window. The scrollbars allow you to pan within the image (in this case to the back of the duck in the foreground). The preview window shows the filter output using the current settings.

The Radius control selects the window size used for the filter, from 1 (3x3) to 20 (41x41). Larger values increase the amount of time needed to filter each pixel in the image and can cause blurring.

The Adaptive button selects the adaptive median filter - this filter varies the window size based upon the image content and sometimes improves the clarity of filtered images. The Black Level and White Level controls adjust the levels used by the adaptive filter to adjust the filter radius.

b-tektracker 0.8.2

b-tektracker 0.8.2

b-tektracker is an advanced realtime MIDI step-sequencer with a tracker interface. more>>
b-tektracker is an advanced realtime MIDI step-sequencer with a tracker interface. b-tektracker is a fork of tektracker by Billy Biggs.

ttrk is the product of frustration with bad step editors found on pretty much all MIDI sequencers available today. Im a big fan of trackers, and I wanted to be able to compose MIDI music using a tracker paradigm.

There are five main goals of ttrk:

1. Tracker-style step editor, think ScreamTracker3.
2. Pattern based sequencer.
3. Big, accessable track mute buttons, think Alesis MMT8.
4. Realtime editing, never need to push stop.
5. All functions directly accessable from the keyboard for rapid editing.

ttrk started in the spring of 1999 as a Qt application. I used it to record a bunch of songs (http://mp3.com/bitblit) and some live shows, but it was very much hacked together based on what I needed at the time. Keeping a GUI app up to date is a pain in the ass, and ttrk has been in need of a rewrite ever since.

The urge to create a console version was two-fold:

1. I wanted to use my old computer as a dedicated sequencer, and it doesnt run X.
2. To create a sequencer, you need to run as root. I dont like running big X apps as root.

There are some files to help you use ttrk:

- docs/keys.txt Detailed explanation of all keyboard commands.
- docs/usage.txt Detailed notes on how to use ttrk.

Filler in Java project is a graphical game where you occupy coloured hexes by changing colours. more>>
Filler in Java project is a graphical game where you occupy coloured hexes by changing colours.
Its strengths are better computer players, internationalisability, and cross-platform deployability.
Installing
In the top directory (same directory as this file), run make. That will build a jar file for you. You then need to be super-user (root), and run make install. If you cant be super-user, just do java -jar filler.jar instead.
The executable program is called filler, and will be installed in /usr/local/bin. Since release 1.01, filler will use your shell variable LANG to set the language that it runs in.
Enhancements:
- Added inc to other directory. This is the code header you include to say that the code is released under GPL.
- Removed resources_de.properties, resources_fr.properties, as I wrote them and they were pretty bad.
- Added sortByRandom() to PlayerWrappers.
- Added build.xml to other. This is for use with ant.
- Cleaned up some access privileges on some fields, cleaned up some bad identifiers.
- Added Kris Verbeecks RemotePlayer.

E-Gantt 0.5.2

E-Gantt 0.5.2

E-Gantt is an open source gantt chart library in Java / Swing which is intended for usage in logistics and scheduling app. more>>
E-Gantt is an open source gantt chart library in Java and Swing which is intended for usage in logistics and scheduling applications.
E-Gantt has been in-active for over a year, but has recently seen a lot of work done which includes a simplified interface and documentation in the form or tutorials to make the project easier to use.
Despite this E-Gantt has been succesfully implemented in many large open source projects and commercial projects with-in the following industries.
- Scheduling Research
- Medical Research
- US Military Defense Projects
- Network Administration tools
How E-Gantt works
Rather than develop a brand-new table component for Swing or extend the table component making it propreitry and difficult to work with. E-Gantt heavily utlilizes the existing JTable framework with modifying it, which serves to allow companies using E-Gantt the ability to use there own JTable extensions with E-Gantt with no futher work.
E-Gantt does this by mapping the DefaultCellRender, DefaultCellEditor of the table for its own column class. The Gantt chart will be rendered with-in each column of the table.
The value returned by the getValueAt of the table model is required to be of a DrawingState which is the value for each column.
Drawing State
The DrawingState is a value which is used for the rendering the gantt drawing which is returned by the methd call tableModel.getValueAt(row, column).
The DrawingState contains a lot of information about the actual drawing including:
- Location of the Top and Bottom of the Entry
- A reference key to indicate how the Entry should be drawn
- A reference key to indicate how the Entry should be coloured
For getting started this has been made easier by a helper class GanttEntryHelper. GanttEntryHelper can be called with as little information as a start time and a finish time this can be done as static data or called dynamically with-in the actual table model.
Enhancements:
- The drawing tool was fixed to determine the width of an entry.
- The GlassPane / Acetate layer for tools was introduced.
- A new demo for modifiying drawing context was included.
- A new example of text on diagrams (a layering example) was added.
- A new example of multi-entry was added to the examples.
