Borealis 0.9a
Borealis provides a better feel through use of the subtle aural notifications. more>>
Borealis provides a "better feel" through use of the subtle aural notifications.
The goal of this sound theme is to provide "better feel" through use of the subtle aural notifications. The test I always have in my mind while designing the desktop sounds is to imagine having half-dozen (or more) computer stations in the same office or studio and consider whether their simultaneous use (and resulting desktop sounds) would pose as distraction on users and their productivity. Therefore, in order to minimize the "distraction factor" this theme associates many of the common desktop events with brief, mostly non-pitched, but nonetheless pleasing sound sources (a.k.a. effects).
All of the sounds included have been composed (if applicable), recorded, and mastered by me (although a few of them bear resemblance to other OSs sounds). Some of them are leftovers from my previous compositional and production endeavors, while others are entirely new creations.
All sounds are designed and mixed at CD-quality (stereo, 16-bit, 44.1KHz). Ogg version is distributed as 192Kbit stereo files.
Main features:
- Includes sounds for:
- KDE WM
- KDE System Notifications
- Kdevelop
- Kopete
- KDE Sysguard
- KMail
- Konsole
- Proxy configuration
- K3b (missing 1 sound)
- 4 startup sounds
- 2 exit sounds
- Automated installer and uninstaller
Enhancements:
- Couple improvements to the install and uninstall scripts (thanks to Kirk Strauser for the heads-up!)

BigAl 2.4.0
BigAl allows you to calculate really BIG numbers with an accuracy your desktop calculator is still dreaming of. more>>
BigAl is a free and platform independent software. The project is written entirely in Java. With BigAl you can calculate really BIG numbers with an accuracy your desktop calculator is still dreaming of. The only restriction is the power of your computer! Not only basic calculations are supported, but also special functions like factorial, fibonacci, lucas-sequence, periods, fraction reducing, sum of the digits, binomial coefficient calculation, factorize function, bit oriented functions and many more.
In February 2001, I wanted to know the result of the factorial of one million. BigAl was born and both many CPU cycles and months later I knew the exact result. Since the beginning, BigAl was able to handle numbers stored in files. Meanwhile a lot of functions has been added and a few of them got a much better performance. BigAl uses the Java classes called BigInteger and BigDecimal.

homeLANsecurity 1.6.0
homeLANsecurity was written for Netfilters IPtables, homeLANsecurity (HLS) is a Bash shell scripted firewall. more>>
It was born out of the desire for an easy to configure, well documented, robust IPtables firewall. It has been made with the individual user or small business in mind. With that said, Ive had plenty of e-mails from administrators that are using HLS in a large corporate environment. It was just not initially designed for such.
There is some limited error checking built into HLS. This will not prevent horrible choices when selecting which setting to enable or disable. Since the script can be used for gateway systems and internal LAN systems, many options are listed. Not every option is wise to enable for gateway system. In general, the default settings is the best way to go for the majority of gateway systems.
I dont feel the need to write a large volume of documentation as the HLS script and related files are well documented internally. Then again I am probably too close to the project to make that judgment.
For version 1.6.0 of HLS, I am going to add documentation to this page as the need for it arises. If you find something to be unclear in this documentation or inside one of the files, drop me a short e-mail stating what is unclear and why it is unclear (if possible). Ill make every effort to update the documentation to correct this.

acer_acpi project is a Linux kernel module to allow control of some of the hardware on later model Acer (and other Wistron OEM) laptops.
acer_acpi was originally developed by Mark Smith to enable the wireless LAN card of an Acer Aspire 5024 under 64-bit Linux. The previous solution to hardware access on these laptops, Olaf Taubers acerhk, relied on BIOS calls to work - unfortunately, it is not possible to call a 32-bit BIOS routine from a 64 bit operating system, so acer_acpi was born.

PGPSigner 1.0
PGPSigner project is a tool born out of the main virtues of a sysadmin: Lazyness and Impatience. more>>
PGPSigner project is a tool born out of the main virtues of a sysadmin: Lazyness and Impatience. Have you ever been to a PGP key signing party? It is fun, you verify all these ids, check the keys on the party list and then... then you get home. And find out that you have 47 different keys to sign with one or more of your private keys. You will do it tomorrow. Surely.
When I found one of these lists from an event eight months past, I decided that I do not want to do all the work by myself. So PGPSigner was born: Strong cryptography and command line completion in a single application.
This application uses strong cryptography, something that might pose problems for you if you happen to live in a region of the world where this is an issue.
To use this application, you must probably install the "Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files" for the Sun JCE. If you encounter the following error.
java.lang.SecurityException: Unsupported keysize or algorithm parameters.
then this is most likely the problem. Download these for the Sun JDK 1.5 at http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

C::Sharp 0.01
C::Sharp is a parser and Lexer for C# Programming Language. more>>
C::Sharp is a parser and Lexer for C# Programming Language.
SYNOPSIS
use C::Sharp;
use C::Sharp::Tokener;
use C::Sharp::Parser;
This module distribution contains (or will contain, when its finished) a tokeniser, parser and, hopefully, compiler for C#. C# is Microsofts new programming language for its .NET endeavour.
It bears more than a passing resemblence to Java. Like Java, its relatively easy to implement the basics of it but the power is in the runtime.
Implementing C# in Perl is the first step to making Perl the preferred .NET Common Language Runtime for Open Source Programmers. See also, however, the Mono project at Ximian.com.

songanizer 0.8
Songanizer is a shell script to organize a directory containing a collection of MP3 files. more>>
Songanizer is a shell script to organize a directory containing a collection of MP3 files. The goal is to create virtual directory structures, which give different view of the data, but without having redundant copies of the files themselves.
The files are organized according to information gathered from the tags of files stored in subdirectories located under the base directory, which bear the prefix _data in their name. Parallel virtual directory structures containing symbolic links to the actual files are created, which give different views of the same data. Each virtual directory stucture gives a view based on a particular attribute specified by the user. The _data directories themselves can be symbolic links to directories on other devices, and can have multiple levels of sub-directories within them holding the actual song files.
After songanization, the BASE directory will contain the following directories:
(i) _data* --> All directories starting with _data contain the real data.
(ii) _artist --> Contains the link structure on the basis of the artist tag.
(iii) _genre --> Contains the link structure on the basis of the genre tag.
(iv) _initial --> Contains the link structure on the basis of the initial.
... and more, depending on the switches passed to the script
Since Songanizer is a shell script, a running shell is the first and foremost requirement. Preferably it should be a Bourne Again SHell. You may report problems encountered on any shell to the project maintainer.
Getopt (enhanced) is needed to extract the options from the command line arguments. Alongwith that you should have gettext for internationalization support.
The mp3info tool should be installed in the system to process the file tags. It can be downloaded from http://ibiblio.org/mp3info/.

Slideshow Creator 0.7.1
Slideshow Creator is a GUI for creating, modifying, and previewing JPEG image slideshows. more>>
Slideshow Creator is a GUI for creating, modifying, and previewing JPEG image slideshows.
With Slideshow Creator you can edit jpeg slideshows in a visual and fast way so you can reach a much higher productivity with dvd-slideshow.
The final result is a high quality dvd slideshow out of your jpegs!
This software is based on gambas so it shoud work on every Linux or U*ix like system where gambas is available.
You need to install gambas runtime or gambas gambas development ide.
I think it shoould work on higher gambas versions.
I was tired to make poor quality slideshows in VCD/SVCD format and finally met dvd-slideshow: it is a very nice program that produces high quality DVD slideshows from jpeg images. It has crop, kenburn andpan effects.
I made some slideshows but reliazed that I wasted too much time to prepare the slideshow "source": I needed a visual program to speed up the process of kenburns, crop and pan effects creation.
I googled the net but didnt find any souch program so I decided to create one myself: slcreator was born!
How I did it? I built it using gambas: a visual ide with a object oriented basic interpreter which permits to create great programs in a "fast" way. I tried some other languages but I was not skilled enough to use them for this kind of project! gambas permitted me to realize the job in a very nice way!

xconvers 0.8.3
Convers is a TCP/IP based service for Amateur radio operators which uses a command subset of IRC. more>>
Xconvers is a TCP/IP based service for Amateur radio operators which uses a command subset of IRC.
Xconvers is a client for convers, a IRC-like conversation system for hamradio operators. Convers differs from IRC because there is a much smaller command set and command input and output is generally shorter. This is done because a lot of convers servers are linked by radio waves, where traffic should be kept low.
It is optimized for generating less traffic than IRC, because part of the convers server network is connected over a radio network with slow (1200-9600 baud) links. Convers uses port 3600.
Xconvers was born a long time ago as a motif client for the wampes convers server. The xconvers maintainer was looking for someone to take over his software.
After maintaining the motif version for some time, I have rewritten the user interface to use GTK+ and have added a bunch of features.
Main features:
- configurable color support (different colors assigned to every user)
- optional saving of the session to a logfile
- history for the connect dialog and the send widget
- autologin and automatic sending of commands
- selectable font, color and pixmap for the main window
- language support
- statusbar, scrollbar and menu can be turned off
Enhancements:
- French translation by Jean-Luc Coulon, F5IBH. Closes: #299289.

BADGER finance 1.0 Beta 3
BADGER finance is an open source financial management application for end users. more>>
BADGER finance is an open source financial management application for end users. BADGER finance is written in php, ajax and sql. The goal is to regain control over your personal financial situation. BADGER is free software in the sense of the GNU GPL license.
The vision for BADGER finance was born at the Mannheim University of Cooperative Education (BA). In the course of a software development class we had the opportunity to develop software. We jumped at the project with the hopes to be able to complete a useful piece of software instead of the 10,000th tic-tac-toe application.
Since there was no financial management software on the market available to us that had what we needed, we started developing our own which we now released to the open source community.Preferences
Main features:
- Account management
- Currencies
- Transactions
- Transaction categories
- Forecasts
- CSV-Import
- Preferences
Enhancements:
- This is a major release with loads of new features and bugfixes.
- The statistics module was improved with category, trend, and timespan analysis, complete with reach-through capabilities.
- The transaction backend was newly recoded.
- The CSV import module was rewritten with improved matching of imported transactions with planned transactions.
- Powerful filters were added for the transaction grid.
- Transferral transactions were implemented for transfers between different accounts.
- New possibilities were added when editing a chain of recurring transactions.
- A new theme was added.
