XMMS-Control 0.05 Beta

XMMS-Control 0.05 Beta

XMMS-Control provides a Web-based control for XMMS. more>>
XMMS-Control provides a Web-based control for XMMS.
XMMS-Control is a web-based interface for the XMMS (X MultiMedia System). XMMS is an MP3 player for Linux based systems (it also plays other media formats).
XMMS-Control is a graphical interface for the command-line utility XMMS-Shell.
Using XMMS-Control, you can control the music playng from an XMMS equipped machine from any PC on the network, including wireless laptops/PDAs!!!
Imagine being out in the pool and being able to control the music with an 802.11b based PocketPC using a browser! You can do it with XMMS-Control!
XMMS-Control has an interface for standard PCs (desktops/laptops), as well as a mobile/PDA formatted interface, for smaller screens!!!
In addition, XMMS-Control can itself be controlled via other programs (i.e., custom interfaces) using the XMMS-Control API/Hooks program! You can tie XMMS-Control into a larger system via this method.
Lets say youre creating a system for whole-house automation, and you wish to use ONE consistent interface. Well, with the XMMS-Control API/Hooks, you can!!!
Enhancements:
- Some major bugfixes... should work MUCH BETTER on most platforms that had problems before. If you had problems getting XMMS-Control installed and running, please try this new version! Please read the new installation entries in the manual!!!
- More detailed installation instructions for getting XMMS-Shell up and running (including V0.99) in the README & manual.
- Directories are now SORTED alphabetically on the file chooser screen (previously was unsorted).
- Should handle MP3 lists with file names and ID3 tags containing commas much better now (previously when a comma was encountered, the list was off by one, the name would get split, and the second half would go to the next line).

VISCA Camera Control Library 0.08

VISCA Camera Control Library 0.08

VISCA Camera Control Library is a library for controlling a VISCA(tm) compliant camera through the RS232 port of your PC. more>>
VISCA Camera Control Library is a library for controlling a VISCA(tm) compliant camera through the RS232 port of your PC. VISCA, on its side, is a protocol developed by Sony so that a lot of machine vision cameras from Sony are compliant with VISCA.

Typical cameras include the FCB-IX47 family of camera block for OEMs. Note that other devices, such as VCRs, can be controlled. Drop me a line f you know other functions that you would like to be implemented and for which you have the opcodes.

libVISCA has been tested only with an FCB-IX47P. This does not mean that its the only camera compatible, but some others might require addition/changes. In the current version, libVISCA has interface functions for every command/inquiry of the specifications. This includes zoom, focus, digital effects, white balance, and much more.

Every function composes an RS232 message, up to 12 bytes long. The message is then sent to a function that will actually send the 12 bytes after appending a header and footer. The function also waits for answers from the camera, such as ACK and completion messages. If its an inquiry, the reply is stored in the input buffer of the interface structure.

buzztard 0.2.0

buzztard 0.2.0

buzztard project aims to provide a free replacement (or clone) of the currently windows only and closed source software Buzz. more>>
buzztard project aims to provide a free replacement (or clone) of the currently windows only and closed source software Buzz. The buzz software is not really further developed, as the main developer has lost his source code.
We want to provide a music production environment, that is based on a very modular approach (following some of the ideas behind buzz), to allow many people to get involved. We hope that our software will have a better usabillity than buzz has although. We dont want to make this a 1:1 copy though.
The buzztard project itself has no direct link to buzz (apart from concepts). To allow migration for buzz users, we will provide song-file import and buzz-machine reuse.
The projects objective is a music application. If youve used programs like FastTracker or the original AMIGA SoundTracker, that will give you an idea. The buzztard editor uses a similiar concept, where a song consists of a sequence with tracks and in each track one uses patterns with events (musical notes and control changes). In contrast to the Tracker programs, tracks are not simply sample players. A song has a setup where one can arrange virtual audio plugins and link them together. Each of these machines can be controlled realtime or via patterns in the sequencer.
The buzztard editor will be just one possible application of the framework we will implement. Tools like a dj mixing application or a live session composer are other things that could be built using this framework.
The main goal is to get as far as buzz now is. Beyond that, we have thousands of ideas to make to improve the usability and production potential of such software. Buzztard should not be just a clone of buzz. It shall live beyond! Yay!
Enhancements:
- This version has lots of UI usability improvements, bug fixes, more instant apply settings and introduces some interactivity features (interaction controller and upnp playback controller).
- The gstreamer extension modules got two new interfaces for presets and help.
- A Fluidsynth generator plugin has been started.

tunerd 0.6

tunerd 0.6

tunerd is a very simple daemon to control an FM tuner. more>>
tunerd is a very simple daemon to control an FM tuner. I found that most FM tuner control programs opened the device (/dev/tuner), set the property (frequency), and closed the device again. This is fine on most tuners, but my USB FM tuner always turned off when the device was closed. I needed a program that would always keep the device open - hence tunerd.
Because tunerd always keeps the device open it needs some way to be controlled so that other programs can talk to the FM tuner. To allow this tunerd will listen on a TCP/IP socket for requests to set/get various FM tuner attributes. This package also has another program called setuner which controls the FM tuner by talking to tunerd. I use this to control my FM tuner from a web page and cgi-bin script.
Compile instructions:
./configure
make
Enhancements:
- Fixed minor code compatibility problems and updated configure scripts

Hegons 0.3

Hegons 0.3

Hegons project is a HEterogeneous Grooming Optical Network Simulator. more>>
Hegons project is a HEterogeneous Grooming Optical Network Simulator that supports mixed routing and wavelength assignment algorithms and optional wavelength conversions capability on each node.
The goal of Hegons is the evaluation of different dynamic routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) algorithms in WDM optical networks in terms of several measures such as: call blocking probability, fairness (variance in blocking probability), call setup time, etc.
Main features:
- Supports practically unlimited number of nodes in a network. (2 billion)
- Supports practically unlimited number of wavelengths per link. (2 billion)
- Typically, can simulate more than 18 million calls per minute on a 2Ghz PC.
- Currently Supports 3 types of nodes (OXCs):
1. Non Grooming node
2. Single-Hop Grooming node
3. Multi-Hop Full Grooming node
Each node can optionally be a wavelength converter node.
4 wavelength assignments (WA) algorithms:
1. First Fit (FF)
2. Random (R)
3. Most Used (MU)
4. Least Used (LU)
- Fixed Alternate Routing (FAR) is supported with 4 different ordering algorithms: FF, R, MU, LU
- Shortest Path Routing (SPR) can be supported by using -mp:1 option.
- Call arrivals follow the poisson distribution.
- Can run multiple batches (separate simulation runs) automatically and find the average results of all batches.
- Three different methods to calculate the blocking probability. Can be controlled by modifying the BP_METHOD compiler directive.
- Average number of attempts for each call can be limited using the -at option.
- Maximum and minimum path length can be controlled.
- Maximum number of paths generated for each source to destination pair can be controlled
- Network description can be loaded from a file or can be feeded interactively by the user.
- Results can be saved to CSV (Comma Separated Values) files for easy batch running. CSV files can be then viewed in Excel and charts can be generated instantly.
Enhancements:
- A new "Multi-hop Partial Grooming" node type was added.
- A partial grooming node can now have multiple G-fabrics.
- This is a new concept that has never been discussed in the literature.
- The RWA method chosen will be applied internally in the nodes between W and G fabrics as well as externally.
- -px and -pn options were added for controlling the max/min number of times G-fabric switchings are done per call.
- Other minor fixes and changes were made.
