bcr harms 0.1

bcr harms 0.1

bcr harms takes a model of the quantum harmonic oscillator and adapts it as a soft synth. more>>
bcr harms takes a model of the quantum harmonic oscillator and adapts it as a soft synth. A little while ago I came across this pretty cool applet that simulates the coherent states (so called Glauber states) of the quantum harmonic oscillator. You can read more about quantum harmonic oscillators on Wikipedia, or perhaps a quantum physics textbook. bcr harms takes this model and turns it into a soft synth. The interface is again based on the BCR2000s knobs and buttons.

There is an applet version for playing with, but the standalone version will definitely perform better.

Instructions:

Download and run with java -jar bcr-harms.jar.

The top row of knobs lets you set the relative amplitude of the first 8 states of the harmonic oscillator. The first row of buttons will select single states. With the bottom left hand knob you can set the average energy and force a Glauber state. Importantly, the stop/start button is situated on the right hand side, where the BCR2000 store button is. There are a few other parameters to play around with too. Furthermore you can select single states by sending MIDI note on messages to the application, this lets you play it somewhat like an instrument.

recover 1.3c

recover 1.3c

recover is a utility which automates some steps to undelete a file. more>>
Recover is a utility which automates some steps as described in the Ext2fs-Undeletion howto in order to recover a lost file.
Recover (ie. console version) is no longer under active development since bug reports have become rare (thus stable), newer and better FSs are coming up and I dont really know how recover could be improved. (suggestions are still welcome!)
If you want to undelete files on a non-ext2 linux partition, you should try it the UNIX-way!
Recover automates some steps as described in the ext2-undeletion howto. This means it seeks all the deleted inodes on your hard drive with debugfs. When all the inodes are indexed, recover asks you some questions about the deleted file. These questions are:
- Hard disk device name
- Year of deletion
- Month of deletion
- Weekday of deletion
- First/Last possible day of month
- Min/Max possible file size
- Min/Max possible deletion hour
- Min/Max possible deletion minute
- User ID of the deleted file
- A text string the file included (can be ignored)
If recover found any fitting inodes, he asks to give a directory name and dumps the inodes into the directory. Finally he asks you if you want to filter the inodes again (in case you typed some wrong answers).
We hope you will never need recover, but in case, its better to install this program anyway. Once a file is deleted, everytime something is written to disk, theres a change it will overwrite the old deleted file. You will never be able to restore it.

Folder Extension Wizard provides a small extension that Loads extensions from folders (unpacked xpi files).

A wizard is a user interface element where the user is led through a sequence of dialogs. Unlike most modern user interface paradigms, the user is forced to perform the task in a specific sequence.

However, for complex or infrequently performed tasks where the user is unfamiliar with the steps involved, it may make it easier for them to perform the task. In some open source software, wizards are called Druids.

KLcdDimmer 0.3

KLcdDimmer 0.3

KLcdDimmer is a KDE applet to adjust LCD brightness. more>>
KLcdDimmer is a KDE applet to adjust LCD brightness.
To adjust the brightness simply click with the mouse left button and use the slider
KLcdDimmer relies on an external program to get/set the brightness, such as smartdimmer or nvclock.
For instance, Ive used
- SmartDimmer
- NVclock
but it is supposed to work also with others, since you can configure the applet.
Installation:
When you run configure, you should pass the KDE root directory as --prefix (in my system it is /usr).
The steps to perform for the installation are standard for packages in source form: once you have unpacked the sources in a directory, `cd to the directory containing the packages source code and execute the following steps:
./configure --prefix=
make
make install (as root)
Then youll be able to add the applet to the panel, by using your KDE panel.
Enhancements:
- Fixed tooltips and added whats this helps
- Fixed geometry (now should fit the panel better)

Enable smart wake ups with wake_up_info() 0.5

Enable smart wake ups with wake_up_info() 0.5

This introduces a new wake up function wake_up_info() that enables the caller to pass additional information to the woke up tasks. more>>

Enable smart wake ups with wake_up_info() 0.5 is very useful for it is designed with the function of smart wake ups.

The current (2.6.0) Linux kernel does not allow the task that wakes up a wait queue, to pass information about the cause of the wake up and this forces the freshly wake up tasks to perform additional steps to query such information.

This is time consuming and not efficient. This patch introduces a new wake up function wake_up_info() that enables the caller to pass additional information to the woke up tasks. The information is passed to the callback function registered inside the wait structure.
