Free basic local alignment search software for linux

Basic Local Alignment Search Tool is a set of similarity search programs designed to explore all of the available sequence databases regardless of whether the query is protein or DNA.
It uses a heuristic algorithm which seeks local as opposed to global alignments, and is therefore able to detect relationships among sequences which share only isolated regions of similarity.
It can be run locally as a full executable, and can be used to run BLAST searches against private, local databases, or downloaded copies of the NCBI databases. It runs on Mac OS, Win32, LINUX, Solaris, IBM AIX, SGI, Compaq OSF, and HP- UX systems.

Amazon API Search is the beginnings of a perl script to search Amazon.

It interfaces with Amazons API interface and performs whatever search the user desires, it then parses the data returned and inserts it in to an MySQL table.

Currently the script only deals with basic returned data, and does not have a user interface. In future releases I hope to correct this.

The script is certainly worth a look for anyone interested in using Amazons API interface.

Local IP Takeover provides network link redundancy within a single server that has multiple network interface cards (NICs) with each NIC connected to separate network switches.
If the primary NIC fails (i.e. it cannot ping its default gateway), the "service" IP (the IP that the outside world connects to) will automatically float to the secondary NIC and a specially crafted ARP (utilizing send_arp) will be broadcast on the local network, thereby instructing all other hosts to update their local ARP cache.
The result is minimal service downtime. Plus, no manual intervention is required in the event that a network card, cable, or switch breaks.
Enhancements:
- The initialization step is more robust and it doesnt allow lipt to abort its execution. Instead, lipt should recover to a sane state eventually (within less than half a minute under normal circumstances).
- Other minor fixes were made.
