# ( setup() can even be skipped for common cases. See docs below. )
sub setup {
my $self = shift;
$self->start_mode(mode1);

$self->run_modes(
mode1 => do_stuff,
mode2 => do_more_stuff,
mode3 => do_something_else
);
}
sub do_stuff { ... }
sub do_more_stuff { ... }
sub do_something_else { ... }
1;
### In "webapp.cgi"...
use WebApp;
my $webapp = WebApp->new();
$webapp->run();
CGI::Application is intended to make it easier to create sophisticated, high-performance, reusable web-based applications. This module implements a methodology which, if followed, will make your web software easier to design, easier to document, easier to write, and easier to evolve.
CGI::Application judiciously avoids employing technologies and techniques which would bind a developer to any one set of tools, operating system or web server.

OpenPlugin::Application is a subclass of CGI::Application, meant to help you create reusable web applications.
SYNOPSIS
# Example from OpenThoughts Demo.pm
package Demo;

});
$demo->run();
OpenPlugin::Application is built on Jesse Erlbaums popular CGI::Application module. OpenPlugin::Application is simply a subclass of CGI::Application. Jesse says the following about CGI::Application:
"CGI::Application is intended to make it easier to create sophisticated, reusable web-based applications. This module implements a methodology which, if followed, will make your web software easier to design, easier to document, easier to write, and easier to evolve."
How does it do this? Jesse goes on to say:
"The guiding philosophy behind CGI::Application is that a web-based application can be organized into a specific set of "Run-Modes." Each Run-Mode is roughly analogous to a single screen (a form, some output, etc.). All the Run-Modes are managed by a single "Application Module" which is a Perl module. In your web servers document space there is an "Instance Script" which is called by the web server"
The biggest difference between CGI::Application and OpenPlugin::Application is that query object they both use; one is designed to use CGI.pm, the other OpenPlugin. Generally speaking, everything in the still applies. Any differences will be noted in this document.
It is not necessary to use OpenPlugin::Application in order to build web applications using OpenPlugin. This plugin is meant to be for your convenience -- to help you structure your web applications in a manner which makes sense, and is reusable.

Horde Application Framework 3.0.12
Horde Application Framework is a general-purpose web application framework in PHP. more>>
The Horde Application Framework is written in PHP, and provides the common tools a Web application requires: classes for dealing with preferences, compression, browser detection, connection tracking, MIME, and more.
The Horde Framework does not provide any significant end user functionality and it provides a base for other applications and tools for developers. You will probably want to install some of the available Horde applications, such as IMP (a webmail client), or Kronolith (a calendar).
Enhancements:
- This is a security release that fixes a cross site scripting vulnerability and improves protection against phishing attempts.

# Output-related methods
$cat->app_module_tmpl(my_standard_cgiapp.tmpl);
$cat->output_app_module();
CGI::Application::Generator provides a means by which a CGI::Application module can be created from code, as opposed to being written by hand. The goal of this module is two-fold:
1. To ease the creation of new CGI::Application modules.
2. To allow standardization of CGI::Application coding
styles to be more uniformly applied.
It is also the hope of this module that Computer Assisted Software Engineering (CASE) tools will eventually emerge which will allow the development process for web-based applications to be greatly improved. These CASE tools could more easily convert visual notation (such as UML state-transition diagrams) into method calls to this module, thereby creating actual code.

SmartTemplate 1.2.1
SmartTemplate is a Template Engine that was designed to support large scale, web based applications. more>>
SmartTemplate is a Template Engine that was designed to support large scale, web based applications.
Whats so special about it?
Common template engines work like the following: Your PHP script specifies an HTML template and assigns some dynamic content to display. The template parser replaces all placeholders within the template with the assigned content and displays it to the user. This means a lot of string processing and regular expression work each time you want to display some content.
SmartTemplate works like a template compiler that converts templates into executable PHP code and stores it for later reuse. The first time a new template is processed, all placeholders in the template are replaced by small PHP code elements that print the assigned content. The HTML template fragment < H3 >{TITLE}< /H3 >, for example, is converted into something like < H3 >< ?php echo $TITLE; ? >< /H3 >. If you have assigned your content to the right variables, there is no need for any template parsing anymore. The only thing that has to be done is to include and execute the compiled template. This usually increases the execution time of the template engine dramatically.
SmartTemplate supports:
- Simple Scalar Substitution (Strings, etc.)
- Block Iterations (nested Arrays / BEGIN..END)
- Basic Control Structures (IF..ELSEIF..ELSE)
- Custom Extension (Output filters, uppercase, sprintf, etc.)
- Template Compilation (HTML templates are converted to executable PHP Code)
- SubTemplate System (HTML templates can be included on other templates)
- Output Caching (Accelerates your applications by reusing page output)

GoblinX Mini Edition 2.0.0
GoblinX Mini Edition is a son of GoblinX and contains only XFCE as windows manager and GTK/GTK2 based applications. more>>
GoblinX Mini Edition is a son of GoblinX and contains only XFCE as windows manager and GTK2/GTK based applications.
The edition is indicated for those users whose want to remaster the distro and also those with difficulties to download more than three hundreds of megabytes, original size of GoblinX Main distro.
The GoblinX Mini Edition will have newer versions released faster and it will be used also for tests and for system and hardware support improvements.
The Mini Edition includes GoblinX default modules such as 01.x.base.mo, 02.x.deflibs.mo, 03.x.defX.mo, 04.x.default.mo, modules included also in master edition, and 08.x.mini.mo, which adds more applications to the edition.
The ISO image is about one hundred and fifty megabytes, but the mini edition contains an excellent source of applications and its more easy to download and also to remaster because modules are already prepared to allow a fast rebuild of the ISO file.
The ISO image has less than half size of the original GoblinX.
The edition also is been used for tests and all applications not based on QT libraries will be tested first by the mini edition, and these tests will make more stable the main distro.
Try out the mini edition, make it your small Linux LiveCD and save memory, you can also use a minicd to burn it and some other devices... If you edit or remove some applications, it can fit into a 128MB pen drive...
The Mini Edition will use the same version definition of GoblinX, so the mini edition is starting using 1.2.0 as edition version.
Enhancements:
- GoblinX Mini 2.0.0 is released. The GoblinX Mini Edition is the son of GoblinX and contains only the Xfce windows manager and GTK+-based applications. This release follows Premium 2007.1 edition and starts the second generation of the distribution. All new features and upgrades prepared for the Premium edition are included, including a new functional Magic Center which works with Xfce and all graphical user interfaces.
