Internet Chess ToolKit 0.2
Internet Chess ToolKit project is a Java library for chess with PGN, FEN, SAN, and ICS (FICS, ICC) support. more>>
Internet Chess ToolKit project is a Java library for chess with PGN, FEN, SAN, and ICS (FICS, ICC) support.
Internet Chess ToolKit is a Java-based set of libraries and widgets useful for performing common tasks such as reading SAN (internationalized), FEN, PGN, generating legal moves, and connection to Internet Chess Servers (FICS).
The purpose of the Internet Chess ToolKit is to provide an extensible library to facilitate the development of internet server clients, bots, training programs, peer-to-peer players, and and various other programs useful for the game player. The library was designed with a high level of abstraction and utilization of object oriented design patterns to make it extensible; The model set up should allow for implementations of many games besides Chess, which is the main focus of this library.
Such other games might include chess variants like BugHouse, or completely different games like scrabble and the Chinese game of Go. Another goal of the library is ease of use. A lot of effort has gone into comprehensive documentation and providing sensible names for methods, as well as providing many convenience methods.
Main features:
- FICS support (limited)
- legal move generation.
- game history with variation support (alternative move suggestions).
- move comment support in text and Numeric Annotation Glyphs (NAG).
- Standard Algebraic Notation (SAN) read/write support (internationalized for presentation in 16 languages).
- Portable Game Notation (PGN) read/write support (including move variations, and FEN).
- Forsyth-Edwards Notation (FEN) read/write support.
- True MVC structure with board displays driven by game model events.
- Command-line Board display (GUI to come).
- Well documented. Sample code also provided.
Enhancements:
- Limited FICS support style12, match request, kibitz, whisper, say, tell, channel tell, shout, c/t/-shout, emote, move list, pin, gin, seek ads, seek remove, seek clear, game results
- Timeseal support
- XSLT java code generation for ICS events
- Sample ICS Client
- PGN bugs fixed

xmms-cueinfo 0.2.0
xmms-cueinfo is a plugin for XMMS that adds support for reading cue files. more>>
xmms-cueinfo is a plugin for XMMS that adds support for reading cue files. Cue files describe what tracks a single audio file contains, including performer and title information.
This makes it possible to rip a full CD into a single audio file. (The reason people do this is because of the audible gaps that occur when the software switches between two files.
However, these gaps are generally shorter in unix-based operating systems than in Windows due to the simpler file I/O subsystem. There are also no-gap plugins for many players now, so there arent really any good reasons for ripping CDs like this nowadays.) xmms-cueinfo also makes it easy to seek to each track mentioned in the cue file.

Monster Masher 1.8
Monster Masher is a mashem-up action game for GNOME. more>>
Monster Masher is an action game for the Gnome desktop environment.
In the old days, before man entered the world, the gnomes were abundant. Through centuries of hard labour, only slightly eased by the levitational powers provided to them by their god, they bored out shafts and caves in the mountains. Always seeking the precious stones and valuable ore...
But the gnomes dug too deep. So the story begins.
The basic idea is that you, as levitation worker gnome, has to clean the caves for monsters that want to roll over you. You do the cleaning by mashing the monsters with stone blocks. Take a look at the screenshots page to see how this looks like.
Main features:
- Mash your way through 30 levels (for hours of fun)
- Four kinds of monsters: stupid monsters, stupid-but-hard monsters, intelligent monsters, egg-laying monsters
- Power-up gems for invisibility, exploding the nearby monsters and freezing all monsters
- Easy, medium and hard difficulty levels (for even more hours of fun!)
- Support for two simultanous players (cooperative)
- Automatic support for large tiles for large displays

Audiere Audio System 1.9.4
Audiere is a high-level audio API. more>>
Audiere is a high-level audio API. It can play Ogg Vorbis, MP3, FLAC, uncompressed WAV, AIFF, MOD, S3M, XM, and IT files. For audio output, Audiere supports DirectSound or WinMM in Windows, OSS on Linux and Cygwin, and SGI AL on IRIX.
Audiere is open source and licensed under the LGPL. This means that you may freely use Audiere in commercial products, as long as you do not modify the source code. If you do modify Audiere and release a product that uses your modifications, you must release your changes to the code under the LGPL as well.
Audiere is portable. It is tested on Windows, Linux-i386, Cygwin, and IRIX with at least three major compilers. Most of Audiere is endian-independent, so it would work with few modifications on other architectures.
Main features:
- Braindead easy API
- Supported file formats: Uncompressed WAV*, Uncompressed AIFF*, Ogg Vorbis*, FLAC*, MP3, MOD, S3M, IT, XM (* supports seeking)
- Streaming and buffered audio
- Volume, pan, and pitch shift modification
- Flat tone, square wave, white noise, and pink noise generation
- Runtime enumeration of audio devices and supported file formats
- Custom file streams
- Python, Delphi, Java, XPCOM (JavaScript in Mozilla) bindings
Enhancements:
- Replaced mpegsound with a stand-alone version of the MPEG audio decoder from ffmpegs libavcodec library. The result is an MP3 decoder that is more portable and works with more MP3 files. MP3 files are now seekable as well. (Matt Campbell)
- Added Speex support.
- Added support for reading metadata tags from sample sources. So far, Vorbis comments are supported, as are ID3v1 and ID3v1.1 tags in MP3 files. Interface designed with help from Brian Robb and Andy Friesen.
- Added callback system for stream stop events. (Richard Schaaf and Chad Austin)
- Added CD audio support, using the MCI subsystem on Win32/Cygwin and libcdaudio on Linux. (Chad Austin and Richard Schaaf)
- Added MIDI support through the MCI subsystem on Win32 and Cygwin. (Chad Austin)
- Dramatically reduced the latency of the OSS device. (Matt Campbell)
- Rewrote the Resampler class to use DUMBs cubic interpolation resampler, resulting in much better resampling for devices such as OSS that use Audieres own mixer. (Matt Campbell)
- Added bindings to wxWidgets. (Emanuel Dejanu)
- Fixed a bug in the DirectSound device implementation which significantly slowed down opening of devices and buffers. (Matt Campbell)
- Added pitchshift to the Python bindings. (Jason Chu)
- Split Doxygen documentation into one for users and one for developers.

XPilotNG 4.7.2
XPilotNG is the mother of all 2D team based space games. more>>
XPilotNG is the mother of all 2D team based space games.
XPilot NG is a multiplayer spacewar game based on the mother of all computer games: XPilot - one of the highest rated games on the linux game tome.
Xpilot is a 2D game which can be played in many modes, each man for himself, team games with carry the flag mode, a racing mode, or all out warfare with complex items such as nukes, ecm, heat seeking and smart missiles, armor, tractor beams, afterburners, warping and many more. Items are collected as powerups. Mouse or keyboard can be used to control the ship. most popular currently is team based games which involved alot of quick thinking and strategy.
XPilot NG improves XPilot in several areas. The most important improvement is the support for a new polygon based map format. The new map format allows the use of arbitrary polygons to define walls and other map constructs. Old block style maps are also supported: the server converts them to polygons automatically to take advantage of the improved wall collision detection code. Legacy XPilot clients are also supported even on new polygon maps. The server can approximate wall polygons using blocks although the approximation is not always very accurate (for obvious reasons).
XPilot NG improves the XPilot code base by removing lots of old hacks and generally cleaning up things to make further improvements easier. This clean up has made it possible for the XPilot NG development team to create a new SDL/OpenGL based client that shares much of the code and functionality of the original X client. The SDL/OpenGL client is quite usable and is tested to work on Linux, Windows and MacOS X platforms. Also, last but not least, it looks quite pretty.
Enhancements:
- SDL client: Fixed some memory leaks, e.g. one for HUD messages.
- SDL client: Texture bug fixes, should fix the bug in 4.7.1 where the ship is painted as a white box on some machines.
- Server: Put back the old behaviour that dropped mines are immune to gravity. Explanation is that they are "anchored" to the map the same way as the walls are.
- Server: New option ballCollisionDetaches (default false): Does a ball get freed by a collision with a player?
- Replays: A fix so that big old recordings dont slow down to a crawl.
- Replays: Possibility to jump forward in a recording by pressing number keys: the number pressed tells how many minutes to forward.
- Several other improvements

I Hear U 0.5.6
I Hear U is a Voice over IP (VoIP) application for Linux. more>>
I Hear U is a Voice over IP (VoIP) application for Linux and it creates an audio stream between two computers in the easiest way and with the minimal traffic on the network.
I Hear U major features:
- Peer-to-Peer: the communication takes place between two computers without need of other servers and protocols in the middle.
- UDP/TCP support: IHU supports both UDP and TCP, with the possibility to choose UDP, for fast and easy connections, or TCP, if its the only solution when your computer is behind firewall or NAT.
- Good audio performance: IHU was born to give the best audio performance, low latency above all. For this purpose IHU is compatible with ALSA, now the default Linux sound architecture, but also with JACK, a low latency sound server. For the audio compression, IHU uses Speex, a codec optimized for speech (and completely free and open source).
- Crypted stream: you have also the possibility to crypt the stream using a fast hybrid cryptographic system (RSA + Blowfish)
- Command-line support: the GUI is not strictly necessary, you can run also a textual IHU from command-line (for example if you need to run the program on remote computers).
- Free and Open Source: IHU is totally free and distributed under the terms of GNU General Public License
The possibilities of use of IHU are infinite, for example you can use it like a phone to talk with your friends all around the world, or at home/work, to talk between computers in the LAN, etc., use it just as your phantasy suggests.
Main features:
- feature improved: ring volume adjustable
- bugfix: mute playback when seeking files
- source code: updated to speex 1.1.11
Enhancements:
- new feature: added possibility to convert IHU files to SPX file
- feature improved: quickly change port in the Receiver address using :
- feature improved: Defaults button in settings now affects only current tab
- feature improved: Volume Change speed for AGC changed to slider in the GUI
- bug fixed: TX dump file was closed after first call
- bug fixed: problems when playing files with different Speex modes
- bug fixed: conflict in the GUI when wating for calls and playing files
- source code: clear distinction in the use of h and hpp header

MPlayerThumbs for Kubuntu 0.5b
MPlayerThumbs for Kubuntu is a thumbnail generator for video files on Konqueror. more>>
MPlayerThumbs for Kubuntu is a thumbnail generator for video files on Konqueror.
Unlike the original konqueror plugin (in my gentoo box is artsplugin-xine), it DOESNT depend neither on xine nor arts, instead it uses only mplayer.
You can take advantage of this on x86_64 systems, where you can use a 32bit mplayer to load win32codecs. To configure the location of your mplayer binary launch mplayerthumbsconfig.
Also its faster than the xine plugin, since it can seek and play only a limited number of frames.
MPlayerThumbs for Kubuntu catches a random frame from 15% to 70%, checking also how contrasted is the image, and dropping bad frames.

Jinamp is primarily a music shuffler for command line junkies. more>>
Jinamp is primarily a music shuffler for command line junkies. Jinamp runs in the background and does not require X or even a terminal.

Enhancements:
- The control tools have been improved, in particular making once-off song requests possible.
