ECQuiz 1.0

ECQuiz 1.0

ECQuiz is a Plone project used for multiple-choice tests, including extended text questions with tutor grading. more>>
ECQuiz is a Plone project used for multiple-choice tests, including extended text questions with tutor grading.
A Plone product for multiple-choice tests, including extended text questions with tutor grading. It offers QTI v2.0 import and export for questions and tests and CSV export for test results. This product is the successor to LlsMultipleChoice.
Main features:
- Support for single-answer, multiple-answer, and tutor-graded extended text questions.
- Import and export in compliance with IMS QTI v2.0 and IMS Content Packaging v1.1.4. This includes the import of tests created with LlsMultipleChoice.
- Related questions can be grouped into question groups, which are then treated as a unit.
- All questions can be displayed on a single page or on multiple pages, with or without navigation.
- Questions and answers can be displayed in fixed or randomized order.
- Random selection of a subset of answers.
- For self-assessment tests, candidates can be provided with instant feedback and/or be allowed to take a test multiple times.
- Answers can be annotated with explanations which are shown to the candidate in instant-feedback mode.
- You can define a grading scale which maps test scores to grades.
- Detailed results report, providing an overview of the performance of all candidates. The report can also be exported for further processing in a spreadsheet or statistics program.
- Fully internationalized, i.e., ECQuiz can easily be adapted to different language environments. ECQuiz currently comes with English, German, French, and Slovenian messages.
- And of course: Fully integrated with Plone: If you know how to use Plone, you know how to use ECQuiz. Tests are just another content type, like texts, images, discussion boards, etc. Also, ECQuiz benefits from Plone features like timed publication, access control, metadata, full-text and metadata-based indexing and retrieval; like for other content types, discussion can be enabled for test items, which can be useful for collaborative test creation.

cnet 2.0.10

cnet 2.0.10

The cnet network simulator (v2.0.9) enables experimentation with various network protocols. more>>
The cnet network simulator (v2.0.10) enables experimentation with various data-link layer, network layer, routing and transport layer networking protocols in networks consisting of any combination of point-to-point links and IEEE 802.3 Ethernet segments. cnet has been specifically developed for, and is used in, undergraduate computer networking courses taken by thousands of students worldwide since 1991. At The University of Western Australia, cnet is used primarily in Chris McDonalds undergraduate unit Computer Networks (IT312).

cnet either displays the entire network under Tcl/Tk or runs rather less visually on an ASCII terminal. Under Tcl/Tk, cnet provides a graphical representation of the network under execution and permits a number of attributes of the network to be modified while the simulation is running. Nodes may be selected with the mouse to reveal a sub-window displaying the output and protocol statistics of that node. Some of the nodes attributes, such as message generation rates and sizes, may be modified while the network is running by selecting choice buttons. Similarly, the default attributes of all nodes in the network may be simultaneously modified by selecting and changing global attributes. From another menu, each node may be forced to reboot, (impolitely) crash, (politely) shutdown and reboot, pause and (hardware) fail, you can do many things.

You should note the following requirements and restrictions for various systems:

If using a Linux(ELF) system, the freely-available libelf package is required. Most Linux(ELF) systems (with at least version 2.0 kernels) now provide a copy of libelf, but if yours doesnt it greatly simplifies things if you can install libelf globally on your system. A full copy of libelf is included in the cnet distribution.
If using SunOS you should be using Release 4.1.2 or beyond. If still using Release 4.1.1 you must obtain and install Sun-Patch-ID#100257-03 (4-Oct-91) - whoa! welcome to the 21st century.
If using an SGI-IRIX machine, you must be using Release 5 or 6 (Release 4 is not supported).
Older Linux systems with a.out formats are no longer supported.
cnet has been tested with most Tcl/Tk versions, (Tcl7.X+Tk3.X), (Tcl7.X+Tk4.X), (Tcl8.0+Tk8.0), and. (Tcl8.3+Tk8.3).

db2dot 0.2.2

db2dot reverse engineers an existing database and produces an ER diagram in dot format. more>>
db2dot reverse engineers an existing database and produces an ER diagram in dot format.

The dot file can be fed through graphvizs dot to produce a pretty ER diagram. The diagram includes tables and relationships derived from db meta-data and foreign key constraints.

What format is the output?

It generates a dot file which can be turned into a diagram with the graphviz utility.

What database servers will it work with?

It has only been tested with MySQLs JDBC driver, but it uses only
generic java.sql.* classes so it should work with any JDBC driver which is
sufficiently advanced.

What license is the code released under?

db2dot is released under the GPL v2.0 license.

How do I build the source?

Run: ant build jar

What are the command line arguments?

The command line arguments may be in any order, the following are required:

driver=< JDBCDriver class >
url=< db connection url >
user=< db user name >
pass=< db password >

diald-top 2.1pl7

diald-top 2.1pl7

diald-top maintains a top-like listing of all packets and their time to live for use with diald. more>>
diald-top maintains a top-like listing of all packets and their time to live for use with diald. This project needs a new lead developer as the author no longer uses diald.

The concept behind diald-top is very simple. I got sick of trying to read a monitor pipe flying by on an extra VC, so I lusted after a more user friendly interface. As I like the interface in top, I decided to start with that kind of look. Fortunately, the designers of diald made my life rather easy by making the monitor pipe with an easy structure to implement.

I used ncurses for the interface to make my life simpler. This also has the additional effect of making this possible to run on any type of terminal. I have a VC4404 hooked up and this works great on it. As ncurses uses the terminfo database, it SHOULD work fine on any terminal with correct terminfo entries.

As of Version 0.0.1.1, I have added a limited command structure to diald-top. It is now possible to send diald commands to force/unforce, block/unblock and to bring the link up/down, and also to quit diald (immediately or when the link comes down) all from within diald-top. This makes the program a lot more useful.

The program also now reports the status of the link (UP, DOWN, CONNECT, START_LINK, STOP_LINK, DISCONNECT, CLOSE, etc). This can still use some work
but it is there now...

As of v2.0, diald-top now has the capability to run remotely, communicating to a custom server (also included in the package) that farms the contents of the monitor FIFO out to the remotely running clients. The communication is done using TCP/IP on port 1313 on the server. The identity of the user that is remotely running diald-top is verified using identd, and is then looked up in a configuration file (by userid, IP address, netmask).

AjaxAC 0.4.1

AjaxAC is a PHP framework which can be used to develop, create, and generate AJAX applications. more>>
AjaxAC is an open-source framework written in PHP, used to develop/create/generate AJAX applications.
The fundamental idea behind AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript And XML) is to use the XMLHttpRequest object to change a web page state using background HTTP sub-requests without reloading the entire page. It is released under the terms of the Apache License v2.0.
Main features:
- All application code is self-contained in a single class (plus any additional JavaScript libraries)
- Calling PHP file / HTML page is very clean. All that is required is creating of the application class, then referencing the application JavaScript and attaching any required HTML elements to the application.
- Built in functionality for easily handling JavaScript events
- Built in functionality for creating subrequests and handling them
- Allows for custom configuration values, so certain elements can be set at run time
- No messy JavaScript code clogging up the calling HTML code - all events are dynamically attached
- Easy to integrate with templating engine due two above 2 reasons
- Easy to hook in to existing PHP classes or MySQL database for returning data from subrequests
- Extensible widget structure to be able to easily create further JavaScript objects (this needs a bit of work though)
Enhancements:
- Created ArithmeJax sample application
- Replaced JavaScript escape() with encodeURIComponent()

MP3 Database II 2.9

MP3 Database II 2.9

MP3DB2 is a collection of bash scripts for keeping track of large MP3 collections. more>>
MP3DB2 is a collection of bash scripts for keeping track of large MP3 collections. It will retrieve song information from the filenames and ID3 tags of a directory or CD of MP3s and store them in a local database.
This program is a complete rewrite of my MP3 database version 1. Version 1 only stored the data that was present in the filenames while version 2 actually retrieves information from the ID3 tags of each MP3.
Please note that as of this version the database format is NOT considered carved in stone. I have already added a few fields mid-development and this will continue for a while if I think the format can be made better. See the changelog for a list of changes to the database format since V2.0.
Enhancements:
- mp3dupe: now just displays the name of the directory we are checking not the full path in the host filesystem.

PDL::Tips 2.4.3

PDL::Tips is a Perl module with small tidbits of useful arcana. more>>
PDL::Tips is a Perl module with small tidbits of useful arcana. Programming tidbits and such.

SYNOPSIS
use PDL;

# Whatever happens here.

This page documents useful idioms, helpful hints and tips for using Perl Data Language v2.0.

Help

Use help help within perldl or the pdldoc program from the command line for access to the PerlDL documentation. HTML versions of the pages should also be present, in the HtmlDocs/PDL directory of the PDL distribution. To find this directory, try the following

perldl> foreach ( map{"$_/PDL/HtmlDocs"}@INC ) { p "$_n" if -d $_ }

Indexing idioms

The following code normalizes a bunch of vectors in $a. This works regardless of the dimensionality of $a.

$a /= $a->sumover->dummy(0);

What is actually happening?

If you want to see what the code is actually doing, try the command

PDL::Core::set_debugging(1);

somewhere. This spews out a huge amount of debug info for PDL into STDOUT. It is planned to eventually make this redirectable and the messages selectable more accurately.

Many of the messages come from Basic/Core/pdlapi.c and you can look at the source to see what is going on.

If you have any extra time to work on these mechanisms, infrom the pdl-porters mailing list.

Kye 0.9.3

Kye 0.9.3

Kye is a clone of the classic puzzle game Kye to Linux. more>>
Kye is a clone of the classic puzzle game Kye to Linux (well, to Python and pygtk, so it should run on most platforms where those are available). If you want to know what Kye is about, read here.

Python Kye is written and maintained by me, Colin Phipps. News of new Python Kye releases will be posted here.

Kye is an unusual little puzzle game, with a variety of different types of objects. It takes a little time to figure out all the objects and their normal behaviour; so I have included 6 starter levels to introduce the different objects and different types of level you see them in. Once you have a feel for the game, there are plenty of extra levels to choose from. I have put together a levels page, which picks out some of the easier level sets for people getting started. The levels vary enormously in difficulty, so once you are finding the levels easy, look for a harder set.

See the other pages on this site for more information about the game, and suggestions for levels to play. The site on classicgaming also has lots of good information. I have also started a mailing list as a discussion forum to allow people to discuss levels and level design ideas.

This is a clone of the original Kye, but it is a good one. I have done my best to make it as authentic to the original game as possible (and when I say my best, people who have seen PrBoom will know I take this seriously). It mimics the original, including some of the unusual/buggy things which occur in the original game. It should be compatible with all levels for v1.0 and v2.0 of the original Windows version of Kye. Let me know if you find a level which seem not to work right (*).
