Backgroundimage Saver 0.1.2

Backgroundimage Saver 0.1.2

Backgroundimage Saver is a Firefox extension that provides help for an annoying technique. more>>
Backgroundimage Saver is a Firefox extension that provides help for an annoying technique that can be found on more and more pages. That is to hide images behind a transparent gif to protect them against being saved.

Examplepages that use this can be found at:

print.google.com (just try to save any bookpage that is displayed after selecting a book)

www.imdb.com (same here with any larger images that are displayed)

Because since these pages place a transparent gif on top of the real graphic you cant just right-click an image and select "Save Image As..." because then you would just save the transparent gif (which is probably not what you want.

So this simple extension just adds a Save Background Image option to the right click context menu which does the trick.

Furthermore it is helpful if you want to be able to directly save the backgroundimage, since Firefox does not offer this option by default.

Saves form field data as autofill-bookmarklets. Works with inputs, checkboxes, radio groups, textareas, and selects. As always, feel free to email me with suggestions or issues.

I designed this because when testing a form, I hated filling in every option each time.

Web Information Saver Beta

Web Information Saver Beta

Web Information Saver saves and organizes texts, infos and quotations from the web. more>>
Web Information Saver saves and organizes texts, infos and quotations from the web.

Saving all kinds of text like news, quotations, informations with source and date for offline use.

The saved infos are sorted in categories and can be searched easily. Very handy for creating papers and researches but also for saving postings from online discussion boards etc, its also possible to save (and view) the information directly in HTML source code.

Why shouldnt i use the Browsers SAVE PAGE.. function?
I did it like this and lost soon the overview. Its always a complete site that is saved -even if you are just interested in one simple sentence! And these large files are scattered all over your harddisc and its uncomfortable to find them or to search within them.

Why shouldnt i use other tools?
Hey! You can use whatever you like. But they all depend on a special operating system or a special browser or they are just expensive. Through the renouncement on platform specific functions, the WEB INFORMATION SAVER is able to run on all major operating systems like Windows, Linux, Unix, MAC OS X etc.

XScreenSaver 5.03

XScreenSaver 5.03

XScreenSaver is a modular screen saver and locker for the X Window System. more>>
XScreensaver program waits until the keyboard and mouse have been idle for a period, and then runs a graphics demo chosen at random. XScreenSaver turns off as soon as there is any mouse or keyboard activity.
It can also lock the screen (immediately, after a longer idle period, or on demand.) xscreensaver consists of two parts: xscreensaver itself (the ``driver or ``daemon), which detects idleness and does locking; and the many graphics demos that are launched by xscreensaver.
Any X program that can draw on the root window can be used with xscreensaver, regardless of how that program is written, or what language it is written in, or what libraries it uses. The xscreensaver daemon takes care of detecting when the user is idle, locking, and checking passwords and all the other book-keeping; all the other programs need to do is draw.
The benefit that xscreensaver has over the combination of the xlock and xautolock programs is the ease with which new graphics hacks can be installed. You dont need to recompile (or even re-run) the xscreensaver program to add a new display mode, you just change a config file.
Enhancements:
- New cwaves, glcells, m6502, and voronoi hacks were added.
- Updates were made to bsod and webcollage.
- A possible crash with PAM USB dongle authentication was fixed.

matrix_saver 1.0.2

matrix_saver 1.0.2

matrix_saver is a FreeBSD screen saver, based on The Matrix. more>>
matrix_saver is a console screen saver for FreeBSD. It is based on Chris Allegrettas "cmatrix" which, in turn, was based on the "code" effect in the movie "The Matrix."

The net effect is a cross between a code listing and rain falling on a window pane.

Installation:

Build it:

cd /usr/src/sys/modules/syscons/matrix
make
make install

Edit /etc/rc.conf and add

saver="matrix"

or replace the current value if one is already set.

In FreeBSD 3.1+ "blanktime" is set to 300 seconds in /etc/defaults/rc.conf. If you want to change this then override blanktime in /etc/rc.conf. You can also adjust it with vidcontrol
as root, f.e.

vidcontrol -t 30

would set it to 30 seconds.

Now either reboot, or load the screen saver manually.

To install it manually:

- Use kldstat to get the ID of your current screen saver.
- Use kldunload -i to unload it; is the ID that you found in the previous step.
- Install matrix_saver: kldload matrix_saver.ko (or look for "saver" in /etc/rc.i386, and do what it does)

SSS (Screen Saver Stopper) 0.9.1

SSS (Screen Saver Stopper) 0.9.1

SSS (Screen Saver Stopper)offers you a mini tool to protect the screen saver from starting as long as the SSS window is open. more>> SSS (Screen Saver Stopper) 0.9.1 offers you a mini tool to protect the screen saver from starting as long as the SSS window is open. This is useful when you are watching a movie, viewing the progress of a program's compilation or performing any other task which the blanking of your screen by the screen saver can disrupt.

SSS works with both XScreenSaver and the KDE KScreenSaver (KDE's "screen corners action" option only supports KScreenSaver). It is much easier to use than opening the Control Center, disabling the screen saver from there, and re-enabling it once you're done. To temporarily disable the screensaver, simply open SSS by clicking on its icon. Close the SSS window when you want the screensaver to be re-enabled. It's that simple.

Enhancements: Added Slovak translation (thanks to Jozef Riha)

KoverSS 0.2.1

KoverSS 0.2.1

KoverSS script creates an image based on the currently playing song in Amarok. more>>
I often use my computer to play music when I am having visitors or when I am just not in front of the monitor. I wanted some way to still be able to see what song was playing. As my TV is connected to the computer I decided to make a screen saver that would do just this. (you dont need to even own a TV to use this script, but my TV is in my living room and my computer is not...)

KoverSS script creates an image based on the currently playing song in Amarok, then changes your screen saver to KSlideshow and tells it to display this particular image. It then restores your original screen saver settings.

The script has some basic settings configurable via kdialogs:

Party / safe - mode:

The script can be configured to lock the screen saver, you will need your password to return to the desktop. This is great if you are having a party and dont want everybody to use the computer for surfing or changing track every other minute.

DPMS:

I use display power management to turn off my monitor after a given period of time. This did not work well with my idea. Therefore I created an option to turn off DPMS, and turning it back on when the script is exited or Amarok is shut down.

scrot is a command line screen capture utility.
scrot (SCReen shOT) is a simple commandline screen capture utility that uses imlib2 to grab and save images.
Multiple image formats are supported through imlib2s dynamic saver modules.
Enhancements:
- Patch from Claes Nasten
- Enhances thumbnail related options:
- First, specifying -t would break the $f param to -exec.
- Second, the thumbnail and the screenshot got different timestamps.
- Third, one werent able to specify geometry with -t.
- I fixed those and added, $m ( mini, instead of $t as it was taken ) so that one can do.
- About the geometry, having either the width or height set to 0 makes it fill in the other pertaining the aspect ratio.

Mediainlinux 4 RC5

Mediainlinux 4 RC5

Mediainlinux is a multimedia-focused Linux distribution. more>>
Mediainlinux is a complete Linux distribution targeted at multimedia production, wich consist in a live cd (knoppix derived) containing more than 200 graphical application and thousands of command line tools for:

* Acquisition
* Conversion
* Editing
* Compression
* PostProduction in the Audio, 2D and 3D graphics and Video domain.

Mediainlinux distribution is a working prototype of a Debian Multimedia Distribution, based on the last version (3.4) of the Knoppix Linux Live Cd.

Our CD supports most of the graphic, audio and tv/satellite computer card on the consumer and prosumer market GNU/Linux compatible and has more than 200 graphical applications and hundreds (nearly 1000) of command line tools for covering all the complexity of the multimedia process of production: acquisition, conversion, compression and mastering.

Most of the Multimedia in the GNU/Linux world is covered, but there are some tools which we dont want to distribute together with Mediainlinux for legal reason and mainly because we are not sure about the integrity of the code, which could be stolen or covered by copyrights and so on.

You can install this applications after Mediainlinux is installed on the hard disk, because they will be present in the Synaptic interface (because we added the sources to the sources file).

Technical Goals:

1.Multimedia Kernel (modified to gain more reactivity from the system) and especially in the graphic (drivers for consumer and prosumer video cards) and audio (firmware for professional audio cards) subsystems, applying many patches like the low latency, preemption, real time e capabilities patches and reach a better recognizing of peripherals.

2.Boot splash: cover the Knoppix Live Cd initialization (which is oldish and bad looking, in our opinion) with an animation and some informations about the project.

3.Develop customized multimedia cd and application.

4.OpenMosix enabled kernel to make distributed rendering with Blender and Yafray.

Non technical goals:

1.Include applications which are not already part of the Debian distribution: speed in the free software world creates a situation in which hundreds of projects starts in a year and the ones which survive with an active development the first year and get developed for two or three years have a good chance to continue and be included in the major distributions. Sometimes it needs to anticipate this process and “discover” some applications which are not already shipped with a major distribution, before they become famous and encouraging their diffusion putting them in Mediainlinux. This has a double effect: makes the software better testing it and reporting bugs, suggestions and ideas and making better the whole Mediainlinux itself.

2.Support package maintainer to promote the diffusion of applications that havent already been debianized: programmers that transform the source code of a certain software in a Debian .deb, ready to be installed on a computer with a Debian GNU/Linux distribution (or a Debian compatible one like Mediainlinux) are often volunteers doing this work just as an hobby. For some other software there are already some sponsorships from some facilities and one of the goals of Mediainlinux is to find economic support for this programmers in the multimedia field of application.

3.Organizations: we had contacts with some organizations like ONU and UNESCO and with Italian (Turin, Padova, Bologna, Siena) and international (Bristol, Oslo, Zlin, Tampere, Georgia) universities and with some other organizations in the audio and video fields like FESTPACO or African Women Media Center. In all this places Mediainlinux has been introduced and in some also experimented, still limiting to single tests. With all this entities we would like to set up a collaboration that goes from simple testing and reporting of bugs, to requests for new characteristics and development of additional software.

4.Art Academies: many institutions like MULTIDAMS of Turin, the school of Art and Media of Tampere or the Brera Academy of Art in Milan has a double role: public places for experimentation (and so contamination between technology and art) and possible producers of demonstrations and examples of use, artist and collaborators.

User side goals:

1.Make Mediainlinux a better looking distribution: the look of Mediainlinux is a key aspect of the whole project. The more the distribution will be stylish (from the cd to the manual, from the Internet site to an exhibition stand) in the design and in its graphic and artistic ideas, the more it will gain success between the Linux Artists and the Macintosh community. Then we need to surpass the look of proprietary systems, using all the widgets that can simulate the most stylish looking applets and so we must need graphics to create icons, desktop themes, wallpapers, screen savers and audio video materials (like desktop sounds or video tutorials).

2.Make Mediainlinux simpler: we need to do more integration between different applications, in the way that for a .ogg vorbis file we will have a contextual menu to play, edit, record it etc. etc. This should be done for most of the file formats in the multimedia field and its an operation very intensive of configuring, programming, experimenting and daily use.

3.Make better configuration tools: most of all we need a good configuration of auto mounter to create automatically the icons of peripherals on the desktop.

4.Documentation: we need a manual for the primary applications (mostly done) and its translation in English, French, Spanish and German.

5.Training: we are organizing many courses on subsystems included in Mediainlinux and especially for audio and video streaming, 2D and 3D graphic, musical composition and less common training lessons in multimedia installations and physical and acoustic simulation.

6.Support: make concrete a way to support our users with a mailing list, a forum and a satellite program with tutorials, examples and demonstrations of creativity.

Gravit 0.4.2

Gravit 0.4.2

Gravit is a gravity simulator which runs under Linux. more>>
Gravit is a gravity simulator which runs under Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. Its released under the GNU General Public License which makes it free. It uses Newtonian physics using the Barnes-Hut N-body algorithm.
Although the main goal of Gravit is to be as accurate as possible, it also creates beautiful looking gravity patterns. It records the history of each particle so it can animate and display a path of its travels.
At any stage you can rotate your view in 3D and zoom in and out. Gravit uses OpenGL with Lua, SDL, SDL_ttf and SDL_image.
Main features:
- It looks pretty :)
- View the simulation in 3D using stereoscopic imaging!
- Can be installed as a screen saver in Windows
- You can record, then play back at any speed
- Stores every particles position for every frame in memory
- Compresses history when needed, for very long recordings
- Mouse controllable rotation
- Console with script execution
- Colours can be based on mass, velocity, acceleration, momentum or kinetic energy
- See an octtree being created in real-time
- Save/Load functionality
- Update display/input while recording a frame
It is written in C and uses Lua, SDL, SDL_ttf, SDL_image and OpenGL.
It uses the Barnes-Hut Algorithm (with room for optimisation).
Gravit was called Graviton, but i changed the name because someone already used Graviton for their project!
Enhancements:
- Console tab completion
- Added Q and W keys for lowering and increasing frameskip
- added S key to toggle stereo mode
- added D and F to decrease and increase stereoseparation
- Reorganised F1 help
- Added stereoosd to make the osd shown in stereo (but stretched for now)
- When drawosd is 0, the console and console log will be displayed when you activate the console
- Fixed a bug with the octree (and others) sometimes not being drawn
- Fixed colour scheme bug with one colour
