ALUT 1.0.1

ALUT 1.0.1

ALUT is the OpenAL Utility Toolkit. more>>
At time of writing (August 2005), ALUT was a set of undocumented semi-portable functions that were mixed up in the OpenAL library distribution. The intent had always been that ALUT would be a cleanly separated library that would be portable between systems.

It was hoped that it would be well suited to producing succinct demo programs and to help new developers to get started with OpenAL. It was to do this by removing the annoying details of getting an audio application started - allowing developers to learn OpenAL without distractions such as loading sound samples from disk.

In order to move from this initial implementation to a clean API that would meet the original goals of ALUT, it was necessary to break from the past and make a clean start. The original version(s) were unnumbered - so we will arbitarily label all previous versions as 0.x.x and start this cleaned up version at release 1.0.0 to reflect changed API and implementations.

About OpenAL:

OpenAL is a cross-platform 3D audio API appropriate for use with gaming applications and many other types of audio applications.

The library models a collection of audio sources moving in a 3D space that are heard by a single listener somewhere in that space. The basic OpenAL objects are a Listener, a Source, and a Buffer. There can be a large number of Buffers, which contain audio data.

Each buffer can be attached to one or more Sources, which represent points in 3D space which are emitting audio. There is always one Listener object (per audio context), which represents the position where the sources are heard -- rendering is done from the perspective of the Listener.

freeglut 2.2.0

freeglut 2.2.0

freeglut is an OpenSourced clone of the GLUT library. more>>
freeglut is a completely OpenSourced alternative to the OpenGL Utility Toolkit (GLUT) library. GLUT was originally written by Mark Kilgard to support the sample programs in the second edition OpenGL RedBook.

Since then, GLUT has been used in a wide variety of practical applications because it is simple, widely available and highly portable.

GLUT (and hence freeglut) allows the user to create and manage windows containing OpenGL contexts on a wide range of platforms and also read the mouse, keyboard and joystick functions.

freeglut is released under the X-Consortium license.

The original GLUT library seems to have been abandoned with the most recent version (3.7) dating back to August 1998. Its license does not allow anyone to distribute modified library code.

This would be OK, if not for the fact that GLUT is getting old and really needs improvement. Also, GLUTs license is incompatible with some software distributions (e.g., XFree86).

Hackystat 7.6.1223

Hackystat 7.6.1223

Hackystat is a framework for the automated collection and analysis of software. more>>
Hackystat is a framework for the automated collection and analysis of software engineering product and process data.
Hackystat uses sensors to unobtrusively collect data from development environment tools; there is no chronic overhead on developers to collect product and process data. Hackystat does not tie you to a particular tool, environment, process, or application.
Hackystat project is intended to provide in-process project management support.
Hackystat is in its sixth major architectural release family. The first architectural release family, called the "Spike Solution", was used to explore the feasibility of the approach and to evaluate various component technologies (including JATO, XSL, Ant, JUnit/HttpUnit, Tomcat, Cocoon, and SOAP). Work on this Spike Solution architecture lasted eight months, from May to December, 2001.
In December 2001, we began a major re-implementation of the system in order to provide architectural support for design discoveries made with the Spike Solution. This second architectural release family is called the "Framework Architecture", because it implements package and class-level patterns that facilitate extension of the system via inheritance and composition of existing classes. Unfortunately, the Framework architecture required modification of the hackystat source code to implement new sensors and analysis, and only a single configuration of analyses and sensors can be supported in this architecture.
In November, 2002, we began work on the "SDK" (or "kernelized") architecture release family. This third architectural family decomposes the system into two layers. The first layer is a kernel system which implements the core facilities for data definition, storage, transmission and user interface.
Developers build an actual Hackystat installation by combining the framework with a second layer: a set of plug-in extension modules that define the specific sensor data types, tool sensors, and analyses required to support their development procedures. In the SDK architecture, developers can implement new sensors and analyses without modifying the underlying kernel code, and multiple Hackystat installations can be built with different configurations of analyses and sensors.
In June, 2003, we performed a package restructuring that facilitates the development of third layer, or "application" layer systems. This is the fourth architectural release family, called the "Three Layer" architecture.
After only a month of application layer development, we realized that the build process we developed for the second release family would be woefully inadequate to support the three layer architecture, in which multiple components would be combined into a configuration for release.
So, in August, 2003, we released the fifth architectural release family, called the "Component Architecture", along with extensive new build support including the hackydev web site with daily integration builds.
In July, 2004, we released the sixth architectural family, which provides services to support a "telemetry" based approach to software project monitoring and control. This includes various caching mechanisms, as well as the hackyTelemetry package that includes a telemetry specification language and associated APIs. In this architecture, telemetry support becomes a "low level" feature of the system.
Enhancements:
- A new sensor for IntelliJ Idea, enhancements to the Visual Studio sensor, improved support for test driven development inference, and many bugfixes.

oggment is a mixing/streaming environment able to mix an unlimited (depending on the CPU) number of vorbis encoded audio files. more>>
oggment is a mixing/streaming environment able to mix an unlimited (depending on the CPU) number of vorbis encoded audio files. These files could came from from the hardisk with a line/mic input from the soundcard and stream to an icecast2.0 server.

It is being written with simplicity in mind and is planned to either use the portaudio or the sndlib libraries for cross-compilable audio. At the moment, however, this is untested. It uses SDL for keyboard events, threading, and visible interface.

It makes heavy use of key commands that may demand a bit of patience to learn. Also, using the joystick api of SDL, it is planned to develop a cheap joystick hardware/software combination for knob-turning satisfaction.

Template::Plugin::ByDate is a Perl module that keeps/removes included text based on whether the current date is within range. more>>
Template::Plugin::ByDate is a Perl module that keeps/removes included text based on whether the current date is within range.

SYNOPSIS

[% USE ByDate %]

[% FILTER ByDate
starting = 2006-05-02
until = 2006-08-22 %]
This text only shows up from May 2, 2006 through August 22, 2006.
[% END %]

FUNCTIONS

init

filter

We accept one optional argument, the word "not". If specified, it will reverse the meaning of the filter: rather than keeping the text if the current date is between starting and until, ignore it. e.g.,

[% FILTER ByDate
starting = 2006-05-02
until = 2006-08-22 %]
This only shows up inside the date range
[% END %]
while
[% FILTER ByDate
not starting = 2006-05-02
until = 2006-08-22 %]
This only shows up outside the date range
[% END %]

The starting and until dates are actually parsed by Date::Parse. If you do not specify a time, the starting time is 00:00:00, while the until time is 23:59:59. This is done by checking the until stamp for a colon - if there is no colon, we add " 23:59:59" to the string before passing it into Date::Parse. If that doesnt work for you, please let me know what string youre using.

Gantry::Docs::About is a document explaining Gantrys features and history.
History
Along about 1997 or so, our company (a cable/ISP owned by a newspaper) began serving mod_perl apps to staff and customers. A framework developed and flourished. It was simple, explicit, and fast enough for the high-volume sites run by our parent newspaper. As time passed, improvements were made until a second version was conceived and deployed.
Finally, in August of 2005, a third revision was completed which is now available as an open source product (under the standard Perl license). The new version has lots of new features and removes some of the arcana that built up over the previous six or so years. Notably, it gained an MVC structure and some nifty automated CRUD. But the newly released third version, now called Gantry, retains simplicity, explicitness, speedy throughput, and the ability to host complex projects.
Main features:
- a central mod_perl handler all apps may inherit (Gantry.pm)
- CGI/FastCGI support (Gantry::Engine::CGI)
- automated CRUD (create, retrieve, update, delete) for straightforward tables (Gantry::Plugins::AutoCRUD)
- flexible CRUD for the sophisticated parts of applications (Gantry::Plugins::CRUD)
- easy date entry (via javascript code in form.tt)

Mad Bomber project is a SDL-based clone of Activisions 2600 game.
Mad Bomber is a clone of Activisions 1981 Atari 2600 classic, "Kaboom!" The Mad Bomber rushes back and forth at the top of the screen and drops bombs which you must catch with your bucket. If one drops, you lose a bucket and go back one level.
One or two players can play, using keyboard or mouse.
There is also a "versus" mode where player two controls the Mad Bomber.
Main features:
- Runs on a variety of platforms, including PDAs!
- Controlled with mouse or keyboard.
- One- and two-player modes, including two-player versus.
- On desktop systems, Mad Bomber can be run in a window or fullscreen, in 640x480 resolution.
- Mad Bomber optionally supports stereo sound, and includes music. Volume settings can be changed in the options screen.
- You can choose to play either with an attractive photo-realistic background, or with a plain (zen) Kaboom!-style background.
- A handicap can be set for either or both player, reducing the width of their bucket to half-size.
- High score and options are saved.
Enhancements:
- Now takes advantage of SDL_mixers left/right stereo panning support. (For splashes and explosions.)

a2b 2.0

a2b 2.0

a2b is an abstract train game. more>>
a2b project is an abstract train game.
You guide trains to their destination without letting them collide with each other.
Each game is played on a set of tracks on which trains run at regular intervals. You click-pick a train and accelerate, brake or stop as necessary to safely guide it to its destination.
As trains are continously launched, more than 1 train will want to use the same section of a track potentially leading to a collision.
You resolve this by making a train wait while you rush another train or even cancel a train by sending it back to its base.
When you despatch 100 trains, a level is complete. 2 more tracks are added to the network and the game continues.
a2b controls:
- Click on or near a train to select it. Only 1 train can be selected at anytime.
- Press UP arrow key to accelerate the selected train.
- Press DOWN arrow key to brake (and reverse) the selected train.
- Press LEFT or RIGHT arrow key to stop the selected train.
- You can use W, S, A and D instead of UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys.
- Right click to pause the game.
- ESC to abort or quit the game.
- Use the Level Browser at the bottom of the main menu to choose a level to play.

ioquake3 project (or ioq3 for short) aims to build upon id Softwares Quake 3 source code release. The source code was released on August 20, 2005 under the GPL. Since then, we have been cleaning up, fixing bugs, and adding features.

Our permanent goal is to create the open source Quake 3 distribution upon which people base their games and projects. We also seek to have the perfect version of the engine for playing Quake 3: Arena, Team Arena, and all popular mods.

This distribution of the engine has been ported to many new platforms and has had a slew of new features added, along with massive bug extermination. While we dont have PunkBuster (and never will), we do have more security for servers and clients from various bugfixes which arent in ids client.
