RipOff CD Ripper attempts to appeal to those users who want a non-GNOME dependent CD ripper with a simple interface, or users who just dont like the interfaces of the other GTK+ CD rippers.
Enhancements:
- Added HTTP_PROXY Functionality
- Fixed a bug where for newer versions of GTK "about" dialogue windows were not closing
- FLAC plugin now supports FLAC 1.1.3
- Added an icon for RipOff
- Miscellaneous code cleanups

KungFu DVD Ripper 0.2.3

KungFu DVD Ripper 0.2.3

KungFu DVD Ripper is a GStreamer based DVD ripper. more>>
KungFu DVD Ripper is a GStreamer based DVD ripper.

KungFu creates backups of your DVDs, saving them as .oggs on your hard drive. It encodes the backup using patent-free codecs, Theora for video and Vorbis for audio.

KungFu is not designed for producing backups that fit within a certain file size (say, for burning onto CD); instead, it is designed to produce backups of consistent quality while maintaining the lowest average file size possible (for building a video library on your hard drive).

MDF audio extracter 0.1

MDF audio extracter 0.1

MDF audio extracter project is a tool to extract audio data from MDF/MDS audio cd images to wav or raw files. more>>
MDF audio extracter project is a tool to extract audio data from MDF/MDS audio cd images to wav or raw files. Tracks will be extracted to the current directory and named track_[num].wav or track_[num].raw. Output can also be redirected to stdout to allow the audio data to be fed to an encoder or player directly.
You need both a .mds and .mdf file to be able to extract tracks. The .mds file contains the information about the tracks, while the .mdf file contains the actual data. They usually should have the same name (except for the extension ofcourse). This is case sensitive, so for example FileName is not the same as filename.
Usage: mdfextract [options] file.mds
Options:
-i output mds info instead of extracting
-r extract raw track data
-s output to stdout instead of file
-t < num > extract single track (num > 0)
-q quiet, no output
Version restrictions:
- Probably does not work on big endian archs.

KBookRipper 0.7

KBookRipper 0.7

KBookRipper is a CD-riper based on cdparanoia focused on audio books delivered on CD. more>>
KBookRipper is a CD-riper based on cdparanoia focused on audio books delivered on CD. The project will rip a set of CDs with the same meta data. The output format is OGG, not MP3. The CDs assumes to be part of a audio book.

I wrote it since I was very annoyed that the meta data for a book delivered on several CDs never was the same for all CDs and frequently was missing for at least one of the CDs. The crappy meta data made it hard to rip books with K3B.

This program allows you to enter meta data (author, title, published year) that is used for all the CDs in the book. The only meta data that is changed if the CD-number and that one is increased automatically.

Each books is stored on disk kept together and files are named with the assumption to be part of a book.

For me, this little program has been most valuable since I have ripped about 150 aduio books to put them on my MP3-player. Or, rather, my OGG-player. The output of this program if ogg-files. There is no option what so ever to create MP3-files (although it is a GPLed software and lame takes about the same command options as the oggenc takes).

The applications is made with kommander. The working part is written in bash and the script depends on cdparanoia and oggenc. The command play is used to play a little blip when ac CD is done (blip not included). The script will fail if cdparanoia or oggenc is missing (do the test in the settings-page). If the command play is missing only the blip will fail.

Ive used this for a about one hundred books and I have designed the GUI myself. I guess that disqualifies me to actually have any opinions about the GUI and usability. Du feel free to send me an email and give me feedback. If you think this application is useless, please let me know why.

jRipper 2007.01

jRipper 2007.01

jRipper is an cd ripper and audio converter made in java. more>>
jRipper is an cd ripper and audio converter made in java.
jRipper can encode and decode Wav, Flac, MP3, Ogg, AAC(M4A) formats.
jRipper project is an frontend to cdda2wav, lame, oggenc/oggdec, flac and faac/faad programs.
jRipper can load track names for an CD from freedb.org by http or using the cdda2wav program.
It should work on all platforms that has the right java version (1.5). It has been tested on Linux and Windows XP. The installer contains static versions of cdda2wav, lame, oggenc, oggdec, flac, faac and faad for Linux and Windows.
Problems
Not all transcoding variants works. Known problems are:
AAC to Flac (linux, windows)
If jRipper cant be stopped during encoding, do kill the console program running in the background (cdda2wav, lame, ...).
Encoders
Some of the console applications have been modified to work better with jRipper. faac did get an extra quiet option which means it doesnt print anything to stderr. faad got a few extra fflush after prints to stderr. flac has some error checks canceled! It works for some degree but... So all source for the encoders are packed together for you to download. But its only the source nothing else, you have to do the compiling all by yourself.
Meta Tags
Meta tags are not converted when you do transcoding.
If an audio file can have meta tags, they will have the album and title data you see in the main window.
Installation:
- Install jRipper with clicking the jripper-install-2005.12.jar file.
- Or with the command java -jar jripper-install-2005.12.jar.
- After the install you can start jRipper with the icon on the desktop.
- If the installer failed to create an icon on the desktop or in the start menu, you can try the following ways:
- Double click jripper-2005.12.jar in the installation directory.
- Start it with java -jar jripper-2005.12.jar.
- Execute run.bat or run.sh.
To use jRipper you have to edit some settings in the setup dialog:
- Set the path to the encoder/decoder programs unless you have them already in the system path.
- Set the CD device.
- Typical values are /dev/cdrom for normal ide drives, 1,0,0 for SCSI or SCSI/IDE emulation.
- For SCSI settings run cdda2wav -scanbus as root or as a normal user in windows from a console to get a list of available drives.
- Set the root destination folder for your encoded tracks.
Enhancements:
- A minor Java 1.6 incompatibility was fixed.
- jRipper can dump a multi track CD to a single track (with an optional cue sheet).
- Two more directory layout options were added.
- All the ripper programs (for Windows) were updated.
- A few internal tweaks were made.

Python Audio Tools 2.2

Python Audio Tools 2.2

Python Audio Tools are a collection of audio handling programs which work from the command line. more>>
Python Audio Tools are a collection of audio handling programs which work from the command line. These include programs for CD extraction, track conversion from one audio format to another, track renaming and retagging, track identification, CD burning from tracks, and more.
Supports internationalized track filenames and metadata using Unicode. Works with high-definition, multi-channel audio as well as CD-quality. Track conversion uses multiple CPUs or CPU cores if available to greatly speed the transcoding process. Track metadata can be retrieved from FreeDB or FreeDB-compatible servers. Audio formats supported are:
- WAV
- AIFF
- Sun AU
- FLAC
- WavPack
- Monkeys Audio
- MP3
- MP2
- Ogg Vorbis
- Ogg Speex
- M4A
Easy to install and use:
I dont like programs with lots of obscure dependencies, so Ive written Python Audio Tools to require as few external libraries and programs as possible. Most formats require only one or two common executables and some require none at all. Installation utilizes Pythons built-in distutils, but a provided makefile reduces the process to a simple "make install" command.
The programs that make up Python Audio Tools provide a consistent interface for painless switching between them. man pages are included, as is a lengthy manual for both users and programmers. See the short tutorial in the documentation for an illustration of their usage.
These Python Audio Tools are designed with Unix-like systems in mind. Although most of it is written in pure Python, the libcdio library is used to read from a CD-ROM drive. If one is willing to forgo the CD-based tools, Python Audio Tools is fully portable so long as the required helper applications are present. I have used it on the i386, x86_64 and ppc architectures without difficulty.
Standards compliant
Because Python Audio Tools sticks very close to established, documented standards, it has no trouble interoperating with other audio-handling programs. If you want to rip CDs with Exact Audio Copy, batch convert them to M4As with these tools and play them back in iTunes, thats no problem.
Enhancements:
- Revamped the track metadata system.
- Improved the file detection routines.
- Minor bugfixes.

auCDtect 0.8

auCDtect 0.8

AuCDtect - is a free console program for determining the authenticity of musical CDs. more>>
AuCDtect - is a free console program for determining the authenticity of musical CDs. By evaluating the character of audio data a CD contains, Tau Analyzer can distinguish between original studio-based recordings and those that have been "reconstructed" using a lossy audio source, such as MP3. Its a console application and is freeware.
This program could determine authenticity of a musical CD records, stored in WAV format, using the character of the audio data it contains, and predicts its possible source - is it an
original record or a reconstruction from a lossy encoded music file (for example, MP3).
Enhancements:
- Program should work little bit faster;
- Supports disk conclusion mode over the set of tracks (-d key);
- Decreased error level while processing strongly hardware-compressed; studio records - now makes less errors;
- Small algorithm improvements.
