Attention Recorder 0.65

Attention Recorder is a Firefox extension that allows users to monitor their clickstream and browsing history. more>>
Everything we do online, what we browse, what feeds we read, what we search for, increasingly represents who we are. This "Attention Data" has real value and needs to be protected.

Until now, only companies on the other side of our clicking captured this value. AttentionTrust is a not-for-profit organization that attempts to place the user in control of his or her Attention data.

Attention Recorder is a Firefox extension that allows users to monitor their clickstream and browsing history. YOU alone are in sole control of this information, when it is stored locally on your desktop in an XML file. YOU alone can choose to share it with a service you trust.

AttentionTrust believes that you have the following rights to your Attention Data:

1. Property--You own your data
2. Mobility--You can copy or delete your data.
3. Economy--You can exchange your data with others your trust.
4. Transparency--You can see how your data is being used

Gentium fonts 1.02

Gentium fonts 1.02

Gentium is a typeface family designed to enable the diverse ethnic groups around the world. more>>
Gentium is a typeface family designed to enable the diverse ethnic groups around the world who use the Latin script to produce readable, high-quality publications.

Gentium fonts project supports a wide range of Latin-based alphabets and includes glyphs that correspond to all the Latin ranges of Unicode.

The design is intended to be highly readable, reasonably compact, and visually attractive. The additional "extended" Latin letters are designed to naturally harmonize with the traditional 26 ones. Diacritics are treated with careful thought and attention to their use.

Gentium also supports both ancient and modern Greek, including a number of alternate forms. These fonts were originally the product of two years of research and study by the designer at the University of Reading, England, as part of an MA program in Typeface Design.

SIL International has now embraced the Gentium project, and plans to continue development. Expansion of the glyph set to include more extended Latin glyphs, archaic Greek symbols, and full Cyrillic script support is the next step. Work on this has already begun, but the results will not be available for a few months. Addition of bold and bold italic faces will follow.

Gentium is freely available and may be used by anyone at no cost. It is now released under the SIL Open Font License, a free and open source license that permits modification and redistribution.

Our hope is that it will stimulate literature production and elevate extended Latin alphabets to greater parity with the basic Latin alphabet. We also hope it will encourage other type designers to appreciate and support those fascinating and beautiful extra letters.

HTML Tidy

HTML Tidy

HTML Tidy cleans up HTML source and formats it nicely. more>>
HTML TIDY is a free utility to fix mistakes made while editing HTML and to automatically tidy up sloppy editing into nicely layed out markup. It also works great on the atrociously hard to read markup generated by specialized HTML editors and conversion tools, and can help you identify where you need to pay further attention on making your pages more accessible to people with disabilities.
When editing HTML its easy to make mistakes. Wouldnt it be nice if there was a simple way to fix these mistakes automatically and tidy up sloppy editing into nicely layed out markup? Well now there is! Dave Raggetts HTML TIDY is a free utility for doing just that. It also works great on the atrociously hard to read markup generated by specialized HTML editors and conversion tools, and can help you identify where you need to pay further attention on making your pages more accessible to people with disabilities.
Tidy is able to fix up a wide range of problems and to bring to your attention things that you need to work on yourself. Each item found is listed with the line number and column so that you can see where the problem lies in your markup. Tidy wont generate a cleaned up version when there are problems that it cant be sure of how to handle. These are logged as "errors" rather than "warnings".
Dave Raggett has now passed the baton for maintaining Tidy to a group of volunteers working together as part of the open source community at Source Forge. The source code continues to be available under an open source license, and you are encouraged to pass on bug reports and enhancement requests at http://tidy.sourceforge.net.
If you find HTML Tidy useful and you would like to say thanks, then please send me a (paper) postcard or other souvenir from the area in which you live along with a few words on what you are using Tidy for. It will be fun to map out where Tidy users are to be found! My postal address is given at the end of this file.
The W3C public email list devoted to HTML Tidy is: . To subscribe send an email to html-tidy-request@w3.org with the word subscribe in the subject line (include the word unsubscribe if you want to unsubscribe). The archive for this list is accessible online. If you would like to contact the developers, or you just want to submit an enhancement request or a bug report, please visit http://tidy.sourceforge.net.
Tidy can now perform wonders on HTML saved from Microsoft Word 2000! Word bulks out HTML files with stuff for round-tripping presentation between HTML and Word. If you are more concerned about using HTML on the Web, check out Tidys "Word-2000" config option! Of course Tidy does a good job on Word97 files as well!

Satellite 1.0.2

Satellite 1.0.2

Satellite can track many remote machines with dynamic IP addresses in situations where public DNS services are inappropriate. more>>
Satellite can track many remote machines with dynamic IP addresses in situations where public DNS services are inappropriate. Satellite can log and alert an admin immediately when a site comes online or needs attention.
The Satellite archive also includes an RPM spec file. RPM users can build a binary package ready to install by running:
rpm -tb satellite-1.0.2.tar.gz
You will find the binary rpm under /usr/src/rpm/RPMS/i386 or /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386.
Reasons for Satellite
Public DNS services are often used to track clients with changing IP addresses, but DNS solutions suffer from several problems:
Failure
Public DNS servers regularly fail due to overloading and system administration problems.
No notification
There is no notification when a system goes online. Instead you must poll DNS regularly to see when a system comes online.
Latency
Updating can take from several minutes to several hours before the change is made public. On systems with small idle timeouts it is often impossible to find the current IP address via DNS.
No history
Public DNS services only keep track of the current address and dont record past times or changes in a central location.
Enhancements:
- Minor code improvements. -e no longer searches PATH.
- --with-port removed. Default now found from /etc/services.
- Documentation updates

HTMLatex 1.3

HTMLatex 1.3

HTMLatex does on-the-fly rendering of LaTeX source to HTML documents. more>>
HTMLatex is a mod_python application that uses memcached to reduce the massive overhead of repeatedly rendering the same equation. It has an option to sanitize the latex source removing any potentially dangerous code. Currently it is only tested on Apache 2 + mod_python with python 2.3 and py-memcached-1.2. It is fairly generous about the HTML and latex it accepts.
Im unsure if this will work on Windows as I paid zero attention to interoperability.
HTMLatex has two main goals: first, I wanted to avoid preprocessing; I wanted to be able to type the raw latex into an HTML document and be finished. Second, I wanted the HTML/Latex file to remain untouched.
There is one option: DEBUG. If DEBUG is set, the intermediate files are maintained on disk in /tmp/htmlatex -- this is the only method available for helping to troubleshoot latex errors. Oddly enough, performance should theoretically *increase* if debug mode is on as it doesnt require repeated filesystem access to delete files.
There used to be another option: SANITIZE, which checked the latex source for dangerous code and replaces it with a sanitized graphic. I decidd that giving people the option to auto-render latex code over the web that could do arbitrary things to their PC was a bad idea.
All latex code is sanitized now. If you want to turn it off, just comment out all of the _sanitize() calls in Equation._translateToTex().
Enhancements:
- Internet Explorer users can now see the rendered equations.
- Memcached is no longer used. Instead, images are served from the filesystem.

Net::Daemon::SSL 1.0

Net::Daemon::SSL 1.0

Net::Daemon::SSL is a SSL extension for Net::Daemon. more>>
Net::Daemon::SSL is a SSL extension for Net::Daemon.

SYNOPSIS

use Net::Daemon::SSL;
package MyDaemon;
@MyDaemon::ISA = qw (Net::Daemon::SSL);
sub Run
{
my $this = shift;
my $buffer;
$this->{socket}->print ( "vasja was heren" );
$this->{socket}->sysread ( $buffer, 100 ); # Attention! getline() method
# do not work with IO::Socket::SSL
# version 0.73
# see perldoc IO::Socket::SSL
# for more details
}
package main;
my $daemon = new MyDaemon ( {}, @ARGV ); # you can use --help command line key
$daemon || die "error create daemon instance: $!n";
$daemon->Bind();
__top

This class implements an IO::Socket::SSL functionality for Net::Daemon class. See perldoc Net::Daemon for more information about Net::Daemon usage.

Options

This method add IO::Socket::SSL specific options ( SSL_use_cert, SSL_verify_mode, SSL_key_file, SSL_cert_file, SSL_ca_path, SSL_ca_file ) to generic Net::Daemon options. See perldoc IO::Socket::SSL for description of this options

Bind

This method creates an IO::Socket::SSL::SafeAccept socket, stores this socket into $this->{socket} and passes control to parent Net::Daemon::Bind. The IO::Socket::SSL::SafeAccept is a class inherited from IO::Socket::SSL with the only difference from parent class - the accept() method of this class returns EINTR on *any* error. This trick is needed to ``hack Net::Daemon::Bind functionality: if this method gets an error from accept() ( Net::Daemon::SSL auth error, for example ) it will call Fatal() method and die unless this is a EINTR error.

Multiplication Station 1.3.3

Multiplication Station 1.3.3

Multiplication Station is an application to help memorize multiplication tables through 12x12. more>>
Multiplication Station project is an application to help memorize multiplication tables through 12x12. The user logs in and faces a blank 12x12 grid.
The program gives all the products in random order. When a correct answer is given, the problem is marked "complete" and the corresponding grid cell displays the product (i.e. row * col). If a wrong answer is given then the problem is inserted at a random position in the problem queue and asked again later.
The countdown-timer works as follows: if set for "5", then after 5 seconds, if no answer yet entered, the problem is re-inserted in the problem queue to be asked again, later. This has been found to keep kids more focused.
The administrator can change the operator for each account separately among {+,-,*} for the analogous exercises.
Main features:
- Multiple Account control via Admin Interface
- Separate configurations for each account
- High-Score display encourages competition
- Configurable countdown timer encourages attention
- Configurable number of points to award
- Configurable operator support for add/sub/mult
- Configurable colors
Enhancements:
- The admin panel has been made resizable.
- A call to the anti-alias function that affected some displays has been fixed.

Arithmetic Operations Simulation Library 0.01

Arithmetic Operations Simulation Library 0.01

Arithmetic Operations Simulation Librarys aim is to develop an open source library to simulate heavy arithmetic operations. more>>
Arithmetic Operations Simulation Librarys aim is to develop an open source library to simulate heavy arithmetic operations efficiently.
Finding different ways to solve a problem has been an interesting way to relax for many people. Not only they derive some kicks out of it, but as a side effect they develop much deeper insight into the problems enabling them to work out solutions under different constraints easily.
Here you will find discussion/hints to solve some common programming problems in efficient ways, supported with code that you can try.
DSP Programming Tricks
Often support for many heavy arithmetic operations goes missing to reduce the chip cost for marketability reasons, or during chip development stages. And we programmers have to make for the lack of these.
Accessing recent N items in history
This problem attracted my attention during DSP guest lectures by Mr. Ganesh Bhokare at PUCSD in later half of 2005. Various programming solutions to this problem would be.
Maintain a circular buffer in an array of N (or N+1) items. This will require support for MOD operation.
In case N is a power of 2, bitwise-anding with (N-1) can be used in place of MOD.
If neither N is a power of 2, nor MOD support is available?
Enhancements:
- This version supports finding the first 1/0 bit from left/right (lsb/msb), 16-bit unsigned numbers multiplication, division and mod operations, and also special cases of division by 3.

The Life of a Geek is very silly console game in which you (a geek) must keep a computer running until you graduate college.
Surf around on the Internet, battling hackers to gain money and better security for your box. Drink lots of caffeine to keep yourself awake, since if you go to sleep, you risk an attack on your computer.
The Life of a Geek is a simple console game.
Save up money to take a month-long college course and improve your education, but remember that paying attention to schoolwork also leaves your computer open to attack.
Find a quick job for a month at places like fast-food restaurants and grocery stores, but remember again that time away from your computer leaves it open to attack. Viruses may also appear on your computer, weakening your computers health points regularly until cleaned.
Enhancements:
- Improved randomness, a fix for a bug where more energy drinks could be bought than the available money allowed, and support for compiling using Visual C++.

Avant Window Navigator 0.1.1.1

Avant Window Navigator 0.1.1.1

Avant Window Navgator is a dock-like bar which sits at the bottom of the screen tracking open windows. more>>
Avant Window Navgator (Awn) is a dock-like bar which sits at the bottom of the screen (in all its composited-goodness) tracking open windows.
Awn uses libwnck to keep a track of open windows, and behaves exactly like a normal window-list:
- Clicking an icon switches to that window, clicking again will minimise the window
- Right-clicking will bring up a menu extactly like that of what you see on the window-list, allowing you to max, min, close, resize etc the window.
- Dragging something on top of an icon will activate that window.
- Visually (and quite attractively) responds to needs attention & urgent events
- Can show windows from the entire viewport, or just the visible viewport.
The bar can be customised extensivley:
Choose between two engines:
- Glass engine. All the gradients can be changed to your tastes.
- Pattern engine. Thats right, you can now have a leopard print bar to match your underpants :).
- The border & internal border colours can be changed.
- The glow (the background of an active window icon) can be changed, to be as simple or as lavish as you require.
- Choose between sharp or rounded corners.
- Choose the text & shadow colour of the window title text.
All preferences can be adjusted using the provided avant-preferences program, which provides a friendly interface to the gconf settings.

Aapl C++ Template Library 2.14

Aapl C++ Template Library 2.14

Aapl is a C++ template library for generic programming. more>>
Aapl is a C++ template library for generic programming.
Aapl supports different generic programming paradigms by providing variations of standard data structures. For example, a by-value linked list template may be used to store a user supplied type such as an integer.
A different list template allows the user to define the data structure that is to be used as the element. A third list template allows a single instance of a data structure to be an element in multiple lists.
Wherever possible, Aapl data structures do not depend on heap memory allocation. There are variations of the linked list and AVL tree that allow the programmer to allocate a collection of elements statically and insert/remove them at will.
Aapl data structures do not have their data members hidden behind a strict abstraction layer. Aapl makes very little use of the private keyword. Though data abstractions can be a useful programming technique to quickly produce very robust code, they can inhibit functionality when the data structure is the centre of much attention. Therefore Aapl leaves the use of abstractions up to the programmer.
Enhancements:
- A transfer function has been added to the double lists and AVL trees.
- Remaining double list and AVL tree copy constructors and assignment operators have been changed to implement a deep copy, rather than a shallow copy.
- All copy constructors and assignment operators now implement a deep copy.
- Deep and shallow copy functions have been removed.

Max Fighter 1.0

Max Fighter 1.0

Max Fighter is a vertical-scrolling asteroids shootemup. more>>
Max Fighter is a vertical-scrolling asteroids shootemup game.

You have a bad feeling about this: For only one brief moment you let your attention slip, and suddenly, you find your spaceship heading right into a vast asteroid field. Though it does not seem very dense at the outskirts, your board computer readouts make you doubt you will ever see the other side of it - and did your radar just pick up traces of pirate activity!?

Keep control of your spaceship as you go ever deeper into the asteroid field and the gameplay reaches breakneck speed. Shoot asteroids and containers and collect power-ups, shield energy and special weapons. And last but not least - beware of the pirates!

Metacity 2.18.5

Metacity 2.18.5

Metacity is a lightweight window manager written by Havoc Pennington from Red Hat. more>>
Metacity is a lightweight window manager written by Havoc Pennington from Red Hat. The first version was 2.3, which was released in 2001. Metacity is implemented with the GTK+ 2.x toolkit, and so integrates well with the GNOME 2.x platform.
In fact the intention is to remove the traditional separation between window manager and desktop, and present to the user a single desktop interface.
This means that the limited configuration options available for Metacity are shown as desktop options, not as Metacity options (although there is an optional "Metacity-setup" panel which conflicts with this approach).
Enhancements:
This release fixes a problem with KDE applications appearing to request attention when the user switched workspaces.
- Only activate windows which change their startup ID if the new ID differs from the old. (Thomas) [#400167]
