VETH 1.0

VETH 1.0

VETH is a daemon that creates a virtual ethernet card in Linux. more>>
VETH is a daemon that creates a virtual ethernet card in Linux. This is done via the Universal TUN/ TAP Driver. It is useful to request more than one IP address via DHCP with a virtual ethernet card attached to an existing NIC.

Linux has an implementation that does the work, but partially. Sometimes, this emulation doesnt work as expected. Because of this, I wrote VETH, to be helpful in this situations.

For example, if you want to have more than one IP address obtained via DHCP probably you know thats impossible. With VETH you can attach a virtual ethernet into an existent NIC card, and the run dhclient in it to obtain a new IP.

Perhaps you are saying "hey, man, dont mess with me, I can do that with aliasing. With an ifconfig eth0:1 I have a new ethernet". OK, perhaps, perhaps...

It isnt 100% true. Look at this scenario:

You have a DSL modem working as a bridge. You have a firewall with exactly 2 NICs, no more. One of these NICs is crossover-connected to your modem, and another is in your internal subnet.

retty 1.0

retty 1.0

retty project is a utlity that can attach to processes running on another terminal. more>>
retty project is a utlity that can attach to processes running on another terminal. This is useful, for example, when you run an application locally and then decide you want to use that running application from some remote location.
You can run retty on it, do your work, and detach application back again. Its advantage over screen is that you dont have to run the processes on retty in advance.
Bugs:
- Attaching less doesnt work, we have no idea why yet
- The new terminal does not become the new controlling terminal for the application (this seems to be unfixable without messing with the kernel, unfortunately) - that has all sorts of negative consequences, most importantly: /dev/tty is not the right terminal, leading many applications (e.g. mutt) to misguess window size; pressing Ctrl-C does not deliver a signal to the application, so you cant break it this way (send SIGINT manually)
- You can attach only a single process, so if you want to resume editing a mail in mutt, first you need to attach the editor, then when you are finished quit it and attach mutt

Devel::TraceMethods 1.00

Devel::TraceMethods 1.00

Devel::TraceMethods is a Perl module for tracing module calls. more>>
Devel::TraceMethods is a Perl module for tracing module calls.

SYNOPSIS

use Devel::TraceMethods qw( PackageOne PackageTwo );

Devel::TraceMethods allows you to attach a logging subroutine of your choosing to all of the methods and functions within multiple packages or classes. You can use this to trace execution. It even respects inheritance.
To enable logging, pass the name of the packages you wish to trace on the line where you use Devel::TraceMethods. It will automatically install logging for all functions in the named packages.

You can also call import() after you have use()d the module if you want to log functions and methods in another package.

You can specify per-package (or per-class) logging subroutines. For example:

Devel::TraceMethods( SomePackage => &log_one, OtherPackage => &log_two );
callback( $subroutine_reference )

By default, Devel::TraceMethods uses Carp::carp() to log a method call. You can change this with the set_logger() function. Pass a subroutine reference as the only argument, and all subsequent calls to logged methods will use the new subroutine reference instead of carp().

The first argument to the logging subroutine is the full name of the logged method. The rest of the arguments are copies of those being passed to the logged method. You can modify them in the logging subroutine without disturbing your call.

SmartSplitter 1.3

SmartSplitter 1.3

SmartSplitter is a cross-platform open-source control splitter class for REALbasic 5 or greater. more>>
SmartSplitter is a cross-platform open-source control splitter class for REALbasic 5 or greater. The SmartSplitter control allows the user to resize other controls contained in the window as desired.
SmartSplitter can automatically attach nearby controls thus achieving full functionality with NO coding and NO binding! SmartSplitter is developed for and tested on Linux, Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, and Windows 98/2000/XP.
SmartSplitter began like so many other classes do - as a simple crappy class in an early crappy project. But as I used this divider thingy in more of my projects, I gradually added in smarts until so great the intellect of this amazing class, I felt obliged to spend the extra effort to simplify it, clean it up, and make it more accessible.
The SmartSplitter class is provided free for all to use. However, I do maintain ownership of SmartSplitter. You are free to redistribute the source code. If you distribute it as a standalone class, please include this documentation with it. If you distribute source code containing SmartSplitter, you do not need to include this documentation. There is no requirement to credit me in your program for using SmartSplitter.
Enhancements:
- Fixed control smarts to handle embeded control resize change in REALbasic 2005
- Added logic to handle invisible attached controls
- (Use new subroutine setAttachedControlNormallyVisible to alert SmartSplitter if an attached control changes visibility)
- Using DisableLiveDrag looks MUCH better
- Fixed a Win32 "expanding" handle refresh problem

warichu bar 1.1.00

warichu bar provides a social annotation tool that sits on top of the web and allows everyone to discuss the webs content. more>>
warichu bar provides a social annotation tool that sits on top of the web and allows everyone to discuss the webs content.

Warichu is a social annotation tool that sits on top of the web and allows everyone to discuss the webs content. You can think of the situation as being similar to that of an ant colony mapping out the terrain it lives in - all the ants investigate here and there, finding useful resources, remembering the details and telling their friends so they can use the resources too. In this analogy the web is the terrain, and we are the ants! We communicate on a layer that overlays the web - a layer just for collaborative communication of information. That layer is the Warichu.

With Warichu you can create various types of virtual sticky note and attach them to web pages. Whenever you go back to that page, your note will appear - and if you send the note to some friends it will appear on the page for them too. Different types of sticky note fulfill different requirements - some can be shared with other people, some are stored locally on your computer, some allow you to modify the web page you stick them to, others allow you to conglomerate snippets of text from a page..

An API is included that allows developers to create their own types of content notes (eg, page highlights, annotations, blogging tools)

Horatio 1.7

Horatio 1.7

The Horatio system is a firewall authentication tool. more>>
The Horatio system is a firewall authentication tool. The premise: Legitimate users want to attach laptops and other mobile hosts to the network, but security demands that illegitimate users be prevented from accessing the internal, secure network and from abusing the general Internet. The approach taken by Horatio is to provide a separate, untrusted, network that only connects to the internal network (and thus to the Internet) through a firewall that by default does not pass any traffic.
When a legitimate user connects his or her host, it is assigned an address by a DHCP server (such as dhcpd), but is unable to contact anything outside the untrusted network. The user must must point a web browser at the horatio web server, which runs on the firewall machine, and provide a username and password.
When leaving, the user can log out, removing his or her host from the access list. If the user does not log out, a periodic rollcall (using fping) will detect that the host is no longer accessible and remove it from the access list.Once the username and password have been validated, the firewall rules are modified and are allowing the access to the rest of the network.
The horatio server uses syslog to log the actions it takes, including log-ins, log-outs, web accesses, rollcalls, and process starts and stops. The firewall uses Linux ipchains. HTTPS support is provided using OpenSSL, and the Perl modules IO::Socket::SSL, Net::SSLeay, and HTTP::Daemon::SSL. The firewall and host list management scripts are written in Bash.
For more information, see the horatio(8) man page. More details about the firewall are available in the horatio-firewall(8) man page and about the host management in the horatio-hostlist(8) man page.
Enhancements:
- horatio.in: Added Timeout to HTTPS daemon, log logins/logouts with HTTP/HTTPS

Save The Penguins 0.02

Save The Penguins 0.02

Save The Penguins is a crazy space shooter with penguins and flying saucers. more>>
Save The Penguins is a crazy space shooter with penguins and flying saucers.
This is inspired by "Save The Gweeks" for the Archimedes, in which you saved the gweeks from the snerds. I havent had access to the original, so how close it is I couldnt say.
You control this sphere/circle/whatever with the mouse. Left click to acellerate towards the cursor. Right click to fire lasers. Middle click to pause. Esc to Quit.
The idea is to kill the space ships before they either kill you or all the penguins.
The art for the penguins came from Pingus, the tileset was ripped from supertux.
If anyone would like to contribute levels/art/sound that would be cool.
Main features:
- Scrolling, moving and shooting.
- Tileset defined in simple configuration file
- Loading/Saving level to file with in-game level editor (press E).
- Objects (that is, non-static ones) get damaged when you hit them. The penguins explode in a pile of blood.
- Reasonable collision detection - you have to at least try to get it stuck.
- NEW!! Nice particle-based explosions. Saves me both needing a graphic for it, and it looks pretty cool
- NEW!! Powerups. Dont do much atm. One heals you, the other two hurt you by different amounts. Theres a hook to attach a sound to powerup/powerdown for when I get round to it.

email2fax 1.2

email2fax 1.2

email2fax is a bash script that allows you to send a fax through your Asterisk PBX. more>>
email2fax is a bash script that allows you to send a fax through your Asterisk PBX.
email2fax accepts emails with a PDF or a TIFF attachment, and faxes them through Asterisk to a number specified in a subject field of the email.
Main features:
- it expects to find a fax number in a subject field,
- it expects to find one PDF or one TIFF attachment,
- if these conditions are met, it converts an attachment to the right format, and passes it to Asterisk, and instructs it to send it to a specified number.
As mail2fax wasnt really user friendly (it didnt support PDF attachments; TIFF attachments had to be in a special format), I decidet to write my own implementation.
Currently, email2fax depends on AstFax - that means, a processed attachment (which needs to have a right format) is passed to AstFax, which then passes it to Asterisk.
Usage:
- make sure your Asterisk box can receive faxes - Spandsp has to be set up correctly,
- download and extract email2fax package, dont forget about mpack and munpack, if you dont have them in the system (they are in the package)
- compose a sample message - attach a PDF file, and put a fax number in the subject field - save it on a disk as message.eml; copy it to your Asterisk box
- try to send your first fax from the command line:
cat message.eml | sudo -u asterisk email2fax --debug
- if it worked, congratulations, if not, make sure Spandsp is set up correctly (i.e., you are able to receive faxes), consult /var/log/asterisk/faxlog file, connect to asterisk console (sudo -u asterisk asterisk -crvvvvv), etc.
- if everything works, set up a .procmailrc for the asterisk user:
:0fw
| /var/lib/asterisk/m2f/email2fax
and try to send this same email directly to asterisk@yourasteriskbox
Enhancements:
- Handling multi-page TIFF files was fixed.
- All *.call files should now have random names.
